Check-in and safety was excellent, location very convenient. Beds were okay and also the aircon. However, a piano was in our room which didn't work. Piano chair wobbly. Windows broken and unable to close them. Please fix this, not great. Having shutters was brilliant and helped. Gorgeous flooring, spacious apartment. Very quiet and peaceful. Lovely receptionist.
Excellent location

The head manager Mark was so helpful.

Great staff and place
Good hotel
Verified review powered by
As a whole, it was good. But the wifi didn't reach my room (and I had two different ones). The rest was great.
Verified review powered by
Nice tucked in accomodation that is perfect for exploring Budapest given the metro is very close by. The grand market is also a walking distance away, and a variety of dining options around.

WiFi sometimes does not work

Neat old hotel from the 19 century big rooms Lots of character.
Cool stay
Verified review powered by
It was so nice to come to the cool room from outside. The price meets the quality really well.

Wifi is poor. Air condition is not working in the first day.

Excellent choice for a night or two for the airport
Verified review powered by
A good, basic hotel. Nothing fancy but I don’t need fancy. The staff were exceptional. My favorite thing: my room had a folding drying rack, a godsend when one has been traveling for a while and has clothes to rinse out.
Verified review powered by
We really enjoyed our stay. It was a really good location that was walkable to a lot of the sights with a lot of restaurants nearby as well. Good continental breakfast that kept us full for a long time. Some reviews talked about creaky beds and the outside being noisy but we didn’t find that. The bed’s were also super comfy. Would definitely come back again.

Very good value for what you pay for. Staff were great and rooms are very good.
A comfortable hotel close to everything
Verified review powered by
A Very nice hotel room that is really close to Kalvin Ter (3 minute walk from the airport bus 100E). The room was comfortable, spacious, and clean. There is an elevator if you come with lots of luggage like I did. Everything is accessible through the use of keypads, making it a contact-less check in. However, I found out that I still needed to go to reception with my ID so they could input all my information. I enjoyed my stay because of how close this hotel room is to everything. There are markets and restaurants across the street, and it is really easy to connect to most forms of public transportation to get to other parts of the city.
Would recommend
Verified review powered by
Comfortable room, clean, spacious bathroom. Quiet at night. Very close to locations worth visiting. Excellent public transport.
Clean and great location
Verified review powered by
The property was very clean and well organized, though a little cold. The front desk service was helpful and courteous. The location was superb, near many restaurants and tourist attractions. Overall I was very pleased with the whole experience and would recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable no frills place to stay in the city center.
Verified review powered by
I requested a quiet room, I was assigned 107 which it was right on top of a bar with tran loud music all night long, and young people screaming on the street and on the bar. Nightmare
Verified review powered by
This is the perfect spot for someone who wants to be in Budapest economically, in a pleasant, perfectly adequate and comfortable "hotel" (it's not like a full-service hotel, but there was quite a good breakfast). It's old fashioned, an old, once-gorgeous mansion-type building, with the curved staircases and super-high ceilings, and there's real furniture (old, not sleek or slick) and a lovely sense of comfortable. I've stayed here more than once. I would always choose to be here for my needs if it's available. Also I could arrange an affordable transfer from airport. Prompt communications through email. I'm very happy with the two nights there and will come again.

Our stay was very comfortable. Staff went out of their way to be helpful. The hotel is near shopping, dining, and the metro. Very walkable!
Verified review powered by
Kálvin Haz is an excellent hotel but what’s even more amazing is their staff. The receptionist, Reka, went out of the way to help us when we arrived early from an overnight flight. We will definitely recommend this hotel to everyone we know & I’ll definitely come back the next time that we visit Budapest.
Verified review powered by
Great Location within walking distance of the main attractions & a stones throw from a metro stop (Kalvin tere)
It has it all.
Verified review powered by
This is a great place to stay. The staff are very helpful and the new receptionist is an asset to the hotel. She and staff were very helpful to ensure our needs were covered whether in and at the hotel or questions we had as a tourist. The room was very good and our only problem was the toilet seat which was not fitted correctly, (however this was a common problem in so many hotels and needs to be addressed generally.) It had a lift, and the position of the hotel was ideal for easy access to the Metro and Main railway station. We also had access to some very good eating places, either in market (just down our street some 3 minutes) or opposite the front of the market down a lovely street of many eateries. This place was ideal for all requirements. This is the second time we have stayed,

great location, nice room
Brilliant three-day stay
Verified review powered by
Brilliant three-night stay. Hotel reception very friendly and helpful. Room spacious and clean. Hotel very quiet which was very nice, and the air conditioning was a real bonus in what was a very hot and humid Hungarian summer! I had an academic commitment at the nearby university, so it was also a perfect location, and very close to shops, transport links, and the airport shuttle service. I would certainly stay here again.
Verified review powered by
For the suite, the bed was not comfortable. It was not a mattress. Wooden floor tiles moved when you stepped on them. Staff was great and location is convenient for public transport with plenty of nearby restaurants.
Verified review powered by
We liked everything! We had the suite which was spacious and pleasant for 3. The staff was friendly and helpful. Great location!
Lovely little hotel
Verified review powered by
I was nervous about going as I booked before I realised about the check in times. However I emailed them and they confirmed the arrangements which were simple. The rooms are beautifully clean and simple, but they are basic rather than luxurious. I would definitely stay here again. The staff are lovely and cannot do enough to help you. If I stayed again I would ask for a different room that didn’t face the Tesco opposite but actually it was quiet at night.
Verified review powered by
Older but clean hotel in perfect location. Walking distance to restaurants and attractions. Staff was very nice and helpful. I would stay here again next time.
Very good located apartments
Verified review powered by
Central location, clean apartments. Rooms a bit old style and beds noisy. Helpful and friendly staff.
Verified review powered by
It is an old and beautiful building with high ceiling and wood floor. The bed is very comfortable. The manager is a perfect gentleman and his staff are most helpful. The breakfast is light with good coffee. The hotel is situated near the market and the beautiful Green Bridge. It is very close to the Danube and the famous Turkish thermal bath you. I had a great time.

Nice location, friendly staff, spacious rooms. Clean
Verified review powered by
Nice room, clean and well kept. No complaints.
Verified review powered by
Charming , old fashioned building with grand rooms, high ceilings and heavy wooden doors in a quiet area just down the street from the Central Market and near the river. Staff all spoke English, were very helpful and welcoming, and offered extra services like airport transfers and event bookings. Breakfast buffet was typical and OK standard although not spectacular Some room fittings were in need of attention - a few loose parquet flooring tiles, bathroom door kept sticking, some scary-looking electrical fittings round the place but the rooms were warm and spacious. It would probably benefit from a bit of a makeover however for the price it was fine and really rather quaint; we liked it.
Great location
Verified review powered by
Great location with big spacious rooms. The staff were lovely, the price excellent, and very clean. The only downside was the bed, it could have been a bit better but not a huge problem for a stay of a few nights. I would recommend this hotel
Verified review powered by
I loved the circular stair case, I am a fairly fit 68 year old and only used the lift twice in four days. The staff were wonderful, really pleasant and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble.
Verified review powered by
Room is amazing. High ceilings like 3m high, and a private balcony which I did not expect. Location is excellent, close to river, and two M stations for underground/tram/bus. Easy walk to the center or across to Buda. Breakfast was ample and good but not hot, be aware of that. Great value and everyone on staff was super friendly and helpful.
Verified review powered by
Convenient location and staff were very friendly and helpful. We arrived early, looking to just store our luggage, and the room was already ready. Breakfast was pretty good too.
Verified review powered by
I loved the location! The room was very clean and staff was very friendly. Also, the breakfast was wonderful!
Lovely place and welcoming staff
Verified review powered by
The hotel is retro style which was a pleasnat experience and made my visit great. The staff was nice and welcoming.
Verified review powered by
This hotel is situated really well: bank with atm, grocery store, restaurants are literally right outside. It is also a 2 minute walk to the Great Hall market and Vaci Utca, the shopping street. If you want to take a step back in time, Kalvin House is the place to say; the wooden floors seem like it is in its original state and all the furniture came from the same time period. The staff is wonderful and absolutely helpful especially with making sure the room was warm and calling taxis for us. The breakfast was simple but filling; a great way to start the day.
Good Hotel

Inn Side Kalvin House was a fine hotel in an excellent location in the center of Budapest.
Near what you need
Verified review powered by
My friends stayed there 3 years ago, they recommended it to me when I decided to travel to Budapest. The location is great, supermarket, pharmacy, one the biggest attractions, central market, are all near by. One thing that bother me was the mosquito problem. I couldn’t sleep for the first night because of it.
Verified review powered by
Always friendly and helpful. Rooms are spacious and clean. Great location.
Verified review powered by
Excellent location and really helpful staff with great service.
Verified review powered by
The staff were nice and helpful however i was the only person bitten at night. I suspect there we're bed bugs in my bed. my friends however did not have this problem.

Lovely big rooms sweeping staircases plenty of character No tea or coffee provided in room only a kettle
Verified review powered by
the hotel was central , in a quiet street. and the breakfast was plentiful. There was also a kettle in the room. The hotel benefited from a lift and external security was in operation at night.
Verified review powered by
Nice hotel in an apartment building. Great location with nearby airport shuttle stop.
Verified review powered by
The property is old and rooms very basic. The front desk staff were excellent.
Charming Accommodation in a Convenient Location
Verified review powered by
We had a spacious suite (with frig) in a charming building near two subway lines. The included breakfast was wonderful, a real plus: the hotel acquired an excellent new espresso maker during our stay. The one negative: the hotel misleadingly advertises on Hotels.com that they have self-service laundry. This may be true in SOME suites, but not in ours. More honesty would be appreciated.
Simply amazing

An amazing place to stay in Budapest!
Verified review powered by
It is a nice little hotel near the metro station and near all the sights.
Stay here, great little spot!
Verified review powered by
We stayed here as part of our honeymoon trip to Europe and fell in love with Budapest. The room was comfortable, very large, the beds at first seemed hard but we slept very well in this quiet hotel. The bathroom was huge, lots of hot water! The staff were very helpful for us, they were very accommodating to any requests we had, even providing us with a takeaway breakfast the day we left. Breakfast was a typical breakfast and quite adequate. The wifi was a bit spotty one evening and we went to the reception area to use it, the gentleman on duty provided us with coffee while we did so! The hotel is close to lots of restaurants, grocery stores, the metro, the Jewish quarter and the market hall. It is also a simple walk to the Gellert Baths. I would highly recommend and stay here again in a heartbeat!

Every was good, accept the location which was perfect :)
Good bet for the price
Verified review powered by
Simple but comfortable pension/hotel in a great location. Friendly, solid service; very basic continental breakfast; very basic but clean and comfortable room.
Verified review powered by
This is very nicely located near Central Market, Danube shores, and in walking distance from other attractions. They have both old-fashion rooms, and renewed ones. On the other hand, the elevator seems also too a bit too old-fashioned and the wifi may be weak. Overall, however, a good experience.
Verified review powered by
The beds creaked horribly. Every time we moved the creaking woke us up. In the end we put the matresses on the floor just to get some sleep. To get a decent breakfast you had to get to the dining room early. General impression was that the place was run on a shoestring budget.
Great staff and location and nothing more.
Verified review powered by
As of my first time in budapest. The location was pretty good. Since it is near a square (kalvin square) with direct bus to airport. But the hotel was a little hard to find and it has no great sign but a little writing on a sunshade. Breakfast was not great and very brief. The room was good and cleaning was done every day. The sink plugged and they repaired temporarily. Staff were great and very helping with good manners. I score 6/10. And in one comment location and staff are great.
Lovely Budapest

To be honest on arrival infront of the main door I had thoughts, but I was wrong, its perfect, clean, good breakfast, staff really helpfull, nothing to say against, well done and keep it up

A traditional hotel. Large room, tasty breakfast, comfortable bed. Spoilt only by noisy air con.
Verified review powered by
The hotel is in a great location. The room sizes are generous. The building itself could do with some renovation. The breakfast is quite basic.
Verified review powered by
All the staff were very kind. They answered and helped every time I asked questions.
Verified review powered by
It was a traditional style Hungarian building which we really liked instead of a modern one. This does not mean it didn't have up to date facilities because it did. Great wifi too. The staff were always on hand and very helpful, friendly and informative.

Nice and clean, great location, easy access to anywhere, old building but really clean inside, friendly and helpful staff
Would definitely stay again
Verified review powered by
Great location and amazing staff. Nice breakfast.
Nice large hotel room
Verified review powered by
Check in was easy. Location was good, 20 minute walk to the city centre and about 10-15 minutes to the Jewish quarter. There was a metro station (Kálvin ter) 3 minute walk away, which was handy and the airport just stopped close to that also. I had a double room which was very large and there was a large AC which is a must in summer! The bed was large but it gave me a back ache unfortunately. The shower power was good and hot water was always available. Breakfast was okay, not a huge variety of anything, and replacement was slow. Staff were friendly and helpful. Stairs and lifts were available. The overall building was dated but clean, and reasonably priced in summer. I would stay again if I couldn’t find anything in the heart of the Jewish quarter which I feel is the best place to stay if you want to be close to restaurants and bars.
Lovely hotel, great location, wonderful staff
Verified review powered by
Excellent location, lovely rooms, quiet area, decent breakfast, only problem being the bed creaks every time you so much as move an inch in it. Apart from that brilliant, would visit again.
Location, location, location
Verified review powered by
Fantastically located hotel with helpful staff. Old style ubrwrior and furniture bur the bed was comfy. The price was good, only minor downsides was that the shower could have been bwtter and there could have been more shower gel provided as it was on a hot weekend.

We like the location and the stuff! basically breakast.
Never again
Verified review powered by
Very boring hotel. Unfriendly staff. Horrible breakfast. All TV channels in Hungarian, so even when chilling out at night after being out all day you don’t understand a single word unless you are fluent in Hungarian. At the end I needed a towel to freshen up before heading to the airport. They refused unless I paid 500 HUFs!! Shocking hospitality. Never again.
Book with confidence, lovely place.

The rooms were very large AND there was air conditioning. It has been very hot this June a d so far this is the only hotel with air. The staff was so friendly and helpful especially Luca.
I really liked this hotel.

I really liked it. A little balcony overlooking a very large and tranquil interior courtyard, a cozy room, great breakfast, a nice bathtub. Neither glitzy nor glamorous but quiet and clean and welcoming staff and near the center. I would definitely return.
Okey stay

The hotel was very accessible to a lot of establishments and was right in the center of the city. The staff were very helpful and accommodating. Though the place looks old it has some charm to it. The breakfast selections was basic.

Well maintained older hotel. Clean, good location, good breakfast, wonderful service. Beds could be better but otherwise rooms are comfortable.
Good hotel in a GREAT location
Verified review powered by
This is a solid hotel in an excellent location - I took the 100E bus to and from the airport and the stop was a five minute walk from the hotel. It’s steps from the Grand Market Hall and the bottom of Váci Utca so the location for the price is amazing. And I have to say, the staff are FANTASTIC. Friendly, helpful, and they all have a sense of humor which was delightful. The hotel itself was perfectly nice; I was on the top floor in a room with big windows so I had a great view but the WiFi access was hit or miss inside the room itself. Standing at the top of the stairs the signal was clear as a bell so that’s a minor issue. The hotel is inside an old apartment building so the soundproofing is less than other places but overall I’m very satisfied.
Verified review powered by
wifi was slightly on the slow side. staff were very friendly and helpful. breakfast was ok but not exceptional. building and room furnishings were really wonderful; room was quite spacious. location was excellent.

Location of hotel was great, only 15 mins to Anne Frank House and 10 mins to pancake bakery. The hotel was very well maintained, room was exceedingly spacious and had high ceiling. And they use Rituals toiletries! Staff were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!

I loved the location of this property! It was right around the corner from a Tesco Express supermarket, The market Hall, and a subway station. The Liberty Bridge, Gellert spa and Vorosmarty square was all within 15 minutes. Even though the property is an old apartment building it was very clean and comfortable. The staff was very welcoming and helpful and are available 24 hours. They allowed me to store my luggage until very late the day of my check out which was very helpful.

Stayed at the hotel in September 2018 with my mum. Staff are super lovely and helpful, assisted with anything we needed and giving ideas of what was best to do and alternatives. Hotel is close to bus routes and lots of attractions, but set back from the road so not noisey at all. Definitely recomend it for a short trip.
Verified review powered by
It was a really nice experience. It is very well located, near bus, tram and metro. Quiet at night for a good rest. Nice employees. Nice breakfast. Just one thing, the toilet had a bad smell, maybe from the pipes...but it went away next day.

Super friendly staff. The gave me a free room upgrade with a private balcony. Great breakfast each day. Perfect location and very quiet. Tons of great bars and restaurants.
Verified review powered by
The hotel room was very large, almost like an apartment without the kitchen, but there was a fridge. The lift was small, but they did have one. The breakfast was good. My husband did not like the bed, they need to change the mattresses. We liked the location, it was close to everything, and close to transit, as well as a grocery store.
