Standard hotel with clean bed but room and carpet are definitely outdated. Seemed like the room, hallways and quite frankly the entire building smelled like old cigarette smoke despite being in a smoke free room. Not sure if the entire hotel is smoke free or not but everwhere smelled like old smoke. Front desk agent was polite during check in and had a smile anytime we stopped by with qestions. The free breakfast buffet was the nicest part of the hotel with lots of options both hot and cold food plus various beverages. I think it's pretty expensive for the condition of the hotel.
diane.partnerNov 12, 2024 5.0Easy check in. Room was spacious and clean. Breakfast had lots of options. Easy access via car to many wondeful locations. Some great hikes from the hotel.
Bar had a happy hour ☺️
The food was great with multiple options. Hiking right behind the hotel so beautiful. they saved items for me that I had left behind when I checked out. I was easily able to stop back by and pick them up before leaving the country.
The hotel is well located for visits around the glacier area. It’s extremely simple (like a hostel) but the price is similar to a four star hotel. I was shocked by the low cost benefit. The breakfast is simple. We had dinner at the restaurant and, while the food was good, the prices were out of this world. Unfortunately there are not great options to eat in the area. The only other place is the service station across the road which is also not great. The region itself is magnificent and there’s easy access from to a trail just behind the hotel. It is also well situated to visit the local attractions. But we left with a bad feeling.
michael.friendsOct 14, 2024 3.0I travel to Iceland every few months, and have stayed in countless hotels throughout the country. This is a very nice hotel, however, the beds… the softest I have seen in my life. I could not sleep one minute all night long. If you are a person who likes even a low-grade firmness, you will have trouble as I did. There is absolutely no support as you sink into the bed. For this reason alone, unfortunately I will not patron this hotel again.
Loved the path behind the hotel that lead to the glacier. Great place for watching the Northern Lights.
This is a basic hotel with a good location. The room met our needs for our one night stay. The breakfast buffet was the best part with lots of options and plenty to eat. We appreciated the “aurora wake up service”, added our name to the call list and promptly received a call when they came out in the sky. Thank you!
Nice hotel,great breakfast, highly recommended
ritesh.partnerOct 07, 2024 5.0This area doesn’t have a lot of choices but this is a great choice. Lots of parking, excellent breakfast and friendly staff. They offer a Northern Lights wake up call so you don’t miss out, a nice touch! Would definitely recommend this hotel.
This was one of my favorite stays on my entire trip!!! All because of the heated floors 😂 loved that they called for an Aurora wake up call and I didn’t even have to go outside, I just opened my window and there they were. Breakfast was great and it was early which I loved so I could start my day.
It’s an older hotel but nice staff and great location. Good breakfast, good dinner but expensive but then again everything is expensive in Iceland. One of the few places around to eat so having a good restaurant at the hotel was appreciated! You can walk from the hotel to the park and glacial lakes within minutes. Rooms and beds were weathered but clean. Expensive overall but location was great.
diane.partnerOct 05, 2024 4.0Nice hotel, includes a restaurant (complimentary brrakfast). A bit weathered, small shower, comfy beds, friendly staff who will wake you if auroras happening at night.
Location and access to parking. The restaurant was excellent for dinner as well as buffet breakfast.
Tiniest room ever to sleep 3 people. Barely fit 3 twin beds.
Great location! Walking trail from property directly to the glaciers. Breakfast buffet had lots of options. Very clean too.
Overnight Stay in Skaftafell
4.0Hotel Skaftafell is the only hotel located in Skaftafell and we chose it to be close to the National Park for a glacier hike. The view out of our room was of a glacier and there was a short trail to it. Hotel staff were helpful upon arrival and informed us that our only options for dinner were the hotel or the convenience store across the street. We opted for the convenience store since we were heading to the glacier lagoon. The beds were not very comfortable so glad it was only a one night stay. Breakfast was included and it was good. If you’re traveling the Ring Road and need a place to stay for one night I would recommend this hotel.
audrey.familySep 22, 2024 4.0Our stay at Hotel Skaftafell was good. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room and facility was clean and quiet. Our continental breakfast was very nice.
phillip.familySep 20, 2024 5.0Very peaceful very nice. Very nice breakfast was included. Would stay again.
Grossly overpriced for what it is. The shower had the lowest water pressure I have ever experienced and was lukewarm. It felt like camping.
