Stay is good. Staff in houseboat are very courteous. Food in house boat is excellent. Dinner buffet at lake palace resort is horrible. Breakfast is okay. Main issue in buffet: very limited kerala authentic food, instead more north indian items. Why we to come all the way to eat north indian food?

Average houseboat stay and overpriced property

Good location. Excellent services. Cordial staff. They have to improve quality of food. Buffet menu is limited. Special thanks to manager alush. Houseboat stay could be made better by regularly ventilating the rooms and washrooms. Offensive odour and stuffiness which air freshner cannot take out but will need sunlight and fresh ventilation. Property is not as big as showcased. For ensuring guests privacy staying overnight in the houseboat, the houseboat should have a main door which can be locked from inside. During our stay people kept walking in the houseboat and we had no privacy at all. Houseboat itinerary mentions lot of visits and stops like boat building site and water sports site which we were not taken to. Also boat ride stops in the evening by 6 pm. You are tied up after that till your checkout next day. They should take houseboat guests for ride in the morning also. Other houseboats take their guests for ride in the mornings also for 2 hours.

We had booked this houseboat on short notixe. The property is a resort and has the houseboat docked just outside the hotel reception. Houseboat is good and luxurious. The staff that was with us was very attentive and helpful. They took care of all the requests. Food on board was miz of borth and southern delicacies. There is an option to try local fish or seafood bought while o the boat itseld though we didnt ac-ail the option. Overall houseboat was clean ans good. We had bookes a family suite for 5 adults and we had 2 good bedrooms for our size. Please note that houseboat comes back and is docked in the property for the night. The property itself has lot of options for activities and spa.

Lush-green paddy fields and resort is surrounded with lake. Houseboat hospitality is awesome. Special care taken by our host yash. Kudos to him. Will visit again. Breakfast so many options and wo wonderful taste.

Booked sterling houseboat for family and it was the best decision ever made. The staffs were super caring and helpful. The chef’s cooking for lunch was super tasty and was a top notch experience. The scenic view was a delight to experience in houseboat. The houseboat was super clean and neatly maintained

Nice hygienic boat, awesome food and great hospitality. Most amazing part was that we were able to use the amenities of the resort like swimming pool and indoor recreations, where boat gets parked post evening. The chef customised the lunch as per our choice a day before check-in. I would say that it is the best place to stay in alleppey.

Everything was perfect just that the staff was not responding properly about few things that we asked them to do. Plus the boat house could have a standing ac in the lobby which could have made the experience much better. Rest the properly is amazing.

Amazing houseboat but average food

We rented the houseboat for a night. The boat ambience and cleanliness was amazing. I can’t point out anything bad with the boat. However, food that was served throughout was average and sometimes poor. The lunch served on boat was not prepared on the spot. We got chapatis which were prepared 3-4 hours back and it felt like we are eating papad. Dinner and breakfast was in the resort restaurant. Here also, food taste and variety was not upto the mark. Even the restaurant service was very slow.

I never thought sterling lake palace houseboat could be a excellent trip. It was a 5 star experience. We five people travel-led in maharani house boat. It had two double bed ac rooms with attached bathroom. Best part is non stop ac, you can take a nap in the afternoon also. Open dining hall with excellent food including fish and kerala dishes. Alleppey is like venice. Lots of backwater and most of the houses are connected by canals. Main mode of transport is boats. Each house has a boat. There are boat buses, which is public transportation. Children travel to school by boats and they distribute gas cylinders through boats. House boat, there were two drivers, one house keeper and one chef. On the way they stopped at fish market, where we bought curry meen, prawns( back water fish and jumbo prawns. Chef cooked for us. Curry meen is costly, 1kg 1000 rupees. Prawns 1600 rupees. These house boats travel for only 5 hours. They start at 12. 30pm and dock at 6pm. The sad part is, even if you book the boat for one day, they sail only for 5 hours. The sterling house boat dock at sterling lake palace resort. You can spend the night at boat or go around the resort, go to swimming pool. Dinner served at the restaurant only because the dining hall in the house boat is a open one and there is mosquito problems. The drivers and chef and house keeping leave by 7pm. After that you are all in the boat and there will be security outside. Breakfast also served in restaurant. You have to check out by 9. 30am. The house boat by sterling lake palace is life time experience. If you get a chance you should enjoy it

Absolutely fantastic house boat with beautiful interior. Staff was exceptionally helpfull. Food was tasty. Lunch and evening tea served on the board and dinner and breakfast at resort. Way used for backwater ride is fabulous and scenic. Overall wonderful stay.
