Friendly staff, excellent free breakfast and close to convention centre

Well kept older building. The hotel is on the second floor, no elevators. Be prepared to climb a flight of stairs with you luggage. Our room had a separate private bathroom on the same floor; it was a bit of a nuisance.

Great quiet but Central location. Clean and comfortable with good air conditioner. Three minutes walking to train station and 5 minutes to Mercato Centrale. Would stay again.

excellent hotel and service

The location is great, but the bathroom is extremely small especially the sink
Excellent location
Verified review powered by
Close proximity to train station and San Lorenzo market & Mercato Centrale. Have to take stairs to first floor where hotel is. All rooms off reception/breakfast area isn’t great. Must leave key with reception when you leave. Rooms are not soundproof. Good size room with ensuite. Comfortable bed. Not much storage or power points. Iron available on request but must be returned to reception each time. For price, decent breakfast.

very small rooms. had only one electric plug in bathroom. OK for an average european 3 star hotel. Location was a plus.
Verified review powered by
Excellent location, great staff, clean and fairly priced.
Verified review powered by
Amazing local area, close to train station and Mercato Central for easy cheap dining. Only issue is the 15 mins walk to the centre. Not easy when very hot. My room had a detached bathroom which I did not like for the price I paid and the room was facing the main street which led to a few noise issues but not too bad. Only irritating thing I found was that the hotel is not clearly sign posted and is easy to miss when walking past it.

It was old and charming with large stained glass windows. The staff was excellent and breakfast everyday was delicious.

Excelente property and staff! Needs amenitie upgrade on beds and pillows etc. Other than that Excellent.
Decent Enough!
Verified review powered by
It’s a really old hotel which is not problem when travelling to Europe. However the AC didn’t work on all days we were there except the first, the room was fairly dusty, and the mattress was uncomfortable. If that’s going to be the case they shouldn’t charge well over $100 to be honest.

Location is close to the train station

Friendly manager and staff. Clean but small room. Enjoyed common living room and breakfasts. Good location for tours and train station. Good breakfast with choices. Provided breakfast early when it was needed.

Very charming place, clean. Friendly staff
Verified review powered by
Old house, rather shabby, with old fittings, and very thin, stained walls. I could hear the faintest noises, while guests were allowed to speak and lough loudly in the lounge 2m away from rooms till midnight. All conversations and music at the reception and breakfast areas were highly audible till late in the evening and starting 6:30 in the morning. There was frequent music from neighbouring houses. The very tiny bathroom remained particularly damp after shower and the room was cold, as the old air conditioning unit would only work on cooling. The tv had very poor image and the signal would get lost. The small fridge came in handy. The staff was helpful and polite. The location is very good, close to the railway station, restaurants and downtown.
Great charming hotel A+

Very nice hotel with charm, very clean and super friendly staff. Great central location, not a super fancy place but for uncomplicated and normal people, it's a perfect hotel. The breakfast was simple but good, really had fabulous experience and can only recommend it. I would go back. A+

Amazing hospitality! The front desk service crew is so helpful!
Verified review powered by
Breakfast is great! This hotel needs a lift. It’s hard to carry luggages on the second floor. Staff are very helpful, they offered assistance. A/C or heater works great even in winter.
Verified review powered by
Lovely family run hotel in a great location, close to the train station and the Duomo. Room was comfortable although the bathroom was a bit small. Simple breakfast was included, plus nice touches like free refills of your own water bottles with still or sparking water.
Decent Stay

Amazing staff. Breakfast selections are the same daily. Lots of croissants. To get to the lobby, you do need to climb a set of stairs. It's quite noisy at night, you can hear people passing by outside as it comes in through the window. You can also hear when the next door occupants wake up and move around their room.

Excellent location, near to Duomo. Staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast spread was quite good as well.

Hotel was in good condition and staff were super friendly. Price was reasonable. Hotel was located in good location. Close to train station (walking distance) and close to historical places in Florence.

We loved this hotel! It is small, but very homey and intimate. We felt Like we were at a friend's house and felt right at home. Very good and friendly staff as well. The location was perfect and it felt like we could just relax when we arrived back at the hotel. We would stay again if we visit Florence in the future
Verified review powered by
Location was great (close to train station), gentlemen at the front desk were excellent, very friendly and helpful. The hotel is not brand new but is clean, quiet and comfortable. We enjoyed the breakfast as well, they had a nice selection of things to get the day started and also offered coffee and light snacks later in the afternoon if you so desired. A nice touch for sure. There are also plenty of restaurants close by so no driving or cabs necessary when you’re ready to eat supper. The proximity to the sites is very good as well, all within walking distance just make sure to wear very sensible, comfortable shoes because some of the streets in Florence can be a little tricky to navigate (rough and uneven). All in all, we enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would recommend this hotel to others.

Nice hotel on quiet street but within walking distance to almost all attractions in Florence. Very helpful front desk.

Very nice , clean , beautifully decorated room and nice breakfast in a quiet Space with friendly staff , definitely worth the price and I recommend it .

Excellent location and very friendly staff. Good, spacious room and modern bathroom facilities. Wifi did not work in room and no independent computer access in hotel. Shower and coffee supplies not topped up in room.

Great location. It was an easy walk from Santa Maria Novella train station. The staff were very pleasant. We were given a two bedroom accommodation so it was great value. The breakfast was nice and included in the price.

Good location. Basic amenities, but suited to my needs. Great friendly staff!

Excellent location and a lovely little hotel. A short walk from the tram station (from airport) and everything else all walkable. Hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We were in a room above the main street so it was a little noisy in the early morning and there was also a dog whining (also early morning) a couple of times somewhere in the building. Our room was also pretty close to the breakfast area, so again it was a bit noisy from 7am onwards. Breakfast was a bit crowded a couple of times as there isn't a lot of space....so either go early or later (as we did). They serve till 10am. If you are looking a lie in I'd say ask for a room that isn't at the front of the building. Make sure you have an old style plug adaptor with you (with thinner prongs) as the modern adaptor prongs are too big for the sockets. We'd recommend this hotel for sure despite these few little quibbles.

Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Good location, within easy walking distance of all of the main attractions.

Great location, in a lovely old building oozing charm and character.
Great small hotel with great service.

Hotel Mario's is a small hotel on the first floor of a building. Please note first floor is not street level so there are stairs to climb. You need to make sure you are looking for it because there is just a small sign near the door. Staff is wonderful and very helpful. Rooms are clean and very nicely done. Close to train and a short walk to the duomo. Breakfast is good. Fresh bottled water on request. Would definitely stay again.
Quaint beautiful place

We had a wonderful stay in this hotel. It’s very charming. Leonardo helped us make arrangements for a friend that was flying in to meet us and juggled things around to make it work. Staff are friendly and polite. Breakfast is beautiful. There is a fantastic restaurant called Nerone just a block down from the hotel, you won’t regret going there for supper. This hotel is literally 3 blocks from the train station, 3 blocks from the market, close to laundromat if you have to wash clothes and it is in a quieter area then central Florence.
Amazing stay in a fantastic homely hotel

An amazing stay in a fantastic hotel the location was brilliant the staff so friendly a real home from home. Florence is an amazing city. All the staff were so welcoming. We rarely visit the same place twice (it's a great big world) but if we revisit Florence we will stay at Hotel Mario's for certain.

Spent 10 wonderful days at Hotel Mario’s and could not be happier with our experience. Very close to major attractions such as the Duomo, the Uffizi, and Santa Maria Novella train station. The desk is open 24/7 with English speaking staff who are extremely cordial and understanding. The rooms are quaint and very comfortable as well as being sparkling clean. There is a continental breakfast served from 7 until 10 which provides delicious pastries, eggs, bacon, cereal in addition to all the choices of Italian coffee you could possibly want. If you are planning a trip to Florence make this hotel your destination.

Hotel Marios is near to the city center and main train station, therefore, it has the best location in Florence. Also, staff is very friendly and informative. Overall, it is one of the best places to stay in Florence.

Exceeded our expectations tenfold! Great staff, great breakfast, great location, great price! The staff really when above an beyond to make sure our experience was top notch, it was hard to say goodbye when we checked out. If you are considering other hotels with a similar price point, don't! Hotel Marios is all you need.

Great find in Florence!

GREAT location to sightseeing and train station! Great staff and service. They refill your water bottle with either sparkling or still water. The staff recommends us to go to a local restaurant on the same street called Enzo & Piero which we fell in love with. The food is Soooooo good!

Great friendly people. Pillows are hard and thin so be sure to ask for extra. Lovely stay!

Enjoyed a lovely three-night stay at Hotel Mario's. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The hot drinks machine for breakfast is wonderful and you can fill up your own water bottles throughout the day with still or sparkling water for free. You can also leave your luggage at the hotel after you've checked out if you want to explore for a few hours before leaving Florence. The hotel is also in a great location, within a five-minute walk from the train station and 10 to 15 minutes to all the main attractions. Also plenty of places to eat nearby. Great for a three-star hotel.

Perfect location within walking distance from the train station. Friendly reception, great breakfast, wifi and walking distance to main sights and hop on hop off bus.
Verified review powered by
The hotel is nice. The location is perfect and close to almost all attractions. I also walked to almost all attractions. Most of the staff is nice. The breakfast is amazing. If the room is available and you get to the hotel earlier then the check in time, they still will give you your room, which is a huge plus. However, the walls in my room had smashed, killed mosquitos, which really should be cleaned from the walls. The mattress on my bed was uncomfortable. Other than that, no complaints about the room.

The staff was great, our room was comfortable, and the hotel is walking distance from just about everything in Florence.

The location is near the train station which is a plus. Staff are nice and give attention to detail.

Great location to visit Florence - easy walk from the train station and airport bus, and very close to all of the sights. We stayed in the room with a private bathroom down the hall which was cheaper and worked well for us.
Nice hotel. Good location.

We stayed there for two nights. The hotel is very nice and clean. The room is confortable. The hotel staffs are very friendly and helpful. Hotel is close to every interesting sites and near tain station and taxi station.

This is a wonderful hotel! The staff were just fantastic, friendly, helpful, went out of their way to help a couple Canadians on their first overseas trip. Mario's is also ideally located for sightseeing in Florence. It seemed as if everything we wanted to see was just a kilometer or two away. The rooms were clean, and full of Italian character (perhaps a little small by some North American standards, but that's to be expected), and quite comfortable. No restaurant on-site, but a great breakfast was provided, and countless, wonderful Italian restaurants were literally steps away. If you're going to Florence,do not hesitate to stay here!
Good hotel

Overall it is a good hotel at good location. Service is above average of Italians. It would be great if there is a lift.
Great value + location, a calm oasis in Florence
Verified review powered by
Great location, few minutes level walk from train and bus stations. Decent air con, standard breakfast, basic room furnishings, but great value for money. Only 7 mins walk from Duomo, 3 mins to market or 8 from the river. Plenty of choice for food and drink literally around the corner. Very helpful staff, we enjoyed our stay.

There was one point whichi was inconvenient for us. The hotel is situated on the first floor but there is no elevator to go to thee reception. As we are 68 years old couple, it was very hard for us to go up with 21 kg suitcase.

Great Staff, Location and Breakfast

Great location right next to Santa Maria Novella Station and Shuttle to Florence Airport. Breakfast was five star and we had fresh pastries which were different each morning during our 5 night stay. Comfortable beds and very helpful staff.
Verified review powered by
Excellent hotel. Walking distance from Firenze SMN, and walking distance to everything else in the city. The staff were very helpful, pointing out things to do on a map as soon as we arrived, and while the breakfast does not offer a large variety of choices, the food is very fresh and it's perfect to get the day started. The rooms are spacious, and it was a perfect place to stay for our 4 nights in Florence. We would definitely stay here again.

Very convenient from the train station. Front desk staff very accomodating and welcoming. Excellent full breakfast.. Bed comfortable. Lots of hot water in shower.
Verified review powered by
Overall it was a very good experience. The room was beautiful, customer service great and the included breakfast quite nice. The only downside is that our room was not ready the day we arrived and we were moved to a hotel across the street. We then had to pack up the next day and move back to Hotel Mario. Even though both hotels were nice, as travellers with limited time in Florence we didn't like having to unnecessarily spend more time packing and unpacking our belongings.
Nice Staff, great location

We were there for 2 days, staff was really nice. They welcomed us with biscotti. Room was acceptable, nothing spectacular, but it was clean and good enough.

Difficult to locate by car with all of the roadworks in Florence. Hotel was very clean and staff very nice and helpful. Location great for train station. Good value
Solid stay for a few days
Verified review powered by
Solid stay. good location in Florence. reasonable price. nice and friendly staff. room was decent size for European hotel. TV was pretty small which was funny. A bit noisy during the day because of construction. The breakfast in the morning was convenient, but mostly pastries and cold snacks, which is pretty standard even at restaurants. The bed was a bit hard but manageable. The highlights of the hotel were the location (close to the train station), the reasonable cost, and the friendly staff.

The lady in the breakfast room was very nice and there was a young guy in the front desk who also was very nice and helpful. The rest of the staff were not friendly even though they prentended to be. We liked the couziness of the hotel but it would be much better if they had people a the front desk that were more nice.

This was our second stay at Hotel Mario's. We decided to use it again after an excellent sojourn in 2016, and we were not disappointed. The staff are efficient, very friendly and offer good advice and help about where to go and how to get there. The breakfast was varied and the rooms spotless. It is in a quiet area and easy to reach from the station.
cheap but not worth it.

Overall it was not good experience; it likes family runs business, not in professional way. Staffs are friendly I have to say but you could hear all the noise from someone's talking, walking etc.

This was exactly what we were looking for! The lobby is very charming, breakfast was good, staff is friendly and helpful. Our room was a bit modest in decor but had old world charm. The room was good sized with a walk in closet and huge shower. The pillows were a little flat and mattress a little firm for my taste. A/C worked great. We were a bit surprised that we had to leave our key at the front desk when we left the property but it never caused us any delay. Everything was within walking distance from this cute hotel.

There was a plumbing problem at hotel mario's, so they gave a double room at the same cost of my single room in another hotel called home in florence, they also paid for the taxi to take me to the other hotel, they were very friendly. The new hotel is a little bit far from the center but in a very quite neighborhood close to some mini markets, bars and restaurants. Overall my experience was nice and the staff is very friendly.
Nice Hotel in the center of the city.

Wow, what a wonderful hotel. Hotel Mario's is a quick walk (2 minutes) from the Florence train station and also a quick walk to some of Florence's main attractions. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and have a well functioning air conditioner, but the best part of this hotel is the amazing staff. They are so welcoming and give you all the information you need for a great time in Florence. Also, the breakfast in the morning is delicious and fresh. I highly recommend this hotel!

Quaint hotel with lovely wooden furnishing. Very friendly and kind staff who helped my mum with her luggage. Room was clean, spacious and comfortable. Excellent location just minutes from the train station and walking distance to the main attractions. Street downstairs was quiet at night so we slept really well. Good breakfast. Highly recommended.

Great location & friendly staff
Verified review powered by
All the staff were friendly & helpful. Location is fantastic. We had not paid for breakfast & plenty of places outside the hotel for coffee & croisant. Our room was clean, just had to ask for extra pillows. The hotel can be a bit noisy due to location & type of building - we were aware of this from other reviews so I brought ear plugs, only had to use them on the Sat night. Overall excellent value hotel.
good stay

we stayed here for four nights whilst visiting with family. the hotel was only 5 minutes walk from the train station and not far from museums and local attractions. the room was comfortable but the bathroom was a little compact and had an odd smell, maybe just because of the age of the building. but it was adequate. breakfast was basic but a good enough start to the day.
