DO NOT BOOK! WORST HOSTEL EVER! COCKROACH INFESTATION AND NO ONE TO HELP YOU CHECK-IN AT NIGHT. POOR BATHROOM AMENITIES TOO.
This hostel had everything you expected to have, staff was friendly. They even gave out NWD 100 breakfast voucher a day for each person to eat at next door cafe. The breakfast there was good and we ate there every morning.
Clean, great location, above-average hostel!
We are a couple and I'm a business traveler. This is a hostel but definitely a fun and clean one, front desk staff very helpful; gatherings in nicely-decorated common areas, good location (5-min walk from Taipei train station); clean room although a bit small, overall great stay. The breakfast stand was cute, we could get a burrito/ egg pancake thingy there for free! :) Good value for the money!

Location is good, 5mins walk from Taipei Main Station. For a hostel, it’s very clean, especially the beds. I like the fact that all beds have a USB port and curtain, very handy and a bit of privacy.

The hostel is located conveniently within walking distance to Taipei Main and Zhongshan stations, and these 2 stations are linked by a super long underground shopping street.
The room and bed were quite clean. However, sharing with others means having to put up with smelly shoes and odd smells, and wished the hostel had provided air fresheners. The room I had faced the main street and the noise from the traffic was loud.
Plus point is staff are friendly and willing to help.

Great stay at clean, warm and comfy hostel
Great location nearby train stations and bus stops. Awesome hostel with great team of staff. Bunk bed is comfy, private and spacious. Highly recommenced!

A unpleasant stay that turned out fantastic!
My initial check-in wasn't a pleasant experience as I was assigned to a room that is different from what I booked and paid for. I tried to explain at check-in that the room with a upper deck bed (that needs climbing) was not what I chose. As it was a late check in at 8pm (i was on a late flight), I was told that it's their policy for first come first serve travelers to get whichever room type that is available, and those who check in late will be issued with whichever rooms left from the category you booked. As it was getting late and all rooms were full, I ended up sleeping on the sofa at the lower deck (the upper deck is really a Steep climb). The next morning I left a feedback on Hotels.com and further explained that i have an injury and climbing up was really a challenge. Within moments, the staff got in touch with me and helped to solve my problem with the room. I want to commend Flona (staff of Flip Flop Hostel) for helping me to settle into a room where I can have easy access to the bed. Thank you Hotels.com too for providing me with an avenue to give feedback and assuring me that my bookings can be made right!
Flip Flop Hostel, Slippers everywhere
The hostel is located next to Taipei main station which makes travelling around Taipei very easy. The staff are helpful and approachable. They provide good service and guidance for day-trips for solo travelers. There are weekly events held at the hostel but do remember to check with the staff whether are the activities still on-going before reserving your time for the event. Lastly, it was a pleasant experience with friendly staff.
