Fantastic hotel with a great atmosphere. The lounge area was very relaxing and the bar staff were great.

We had a great room, and the decor looked like a movie theater. Plus we had a guitar in our room which was fun. Very convenient location and comfy beds.

Property had a very cool/unique design aesthetic. Loved that each room had a movie quote on the board outside, was just fun. The room we booked was tiny, which we knew at booking. Definitely wouldn't recommend one of those small rooms if you are travelling with very large or multiple pieces of luggage. We has one medium sized suitcase which was a squeeze but fine. Breakfast was great but space is very limited even with people spilling out into the lobby to eat

No complaints. Everything as expected.

Really cute hotel, nice location - very convenient for walking downtown. My only issue was the construction directly above our room and across the street that was very loud for the first couple hours we were there. It stopped around 5pm but started again around 7am. Good thing we were up early anyway, but not ideal if you want to sleep in.

Unique hotel with walkable dining options and activities. Beautiful room with a guitar available! Only downfall is that the room door kept being slammed by the main door.

Great central location to everything in town, clean and lovely room

Reception staff was very friendly and willing to assist with any needs. When we got to our room, the window (ground floor) was open and there was a sewer gas smell. Staff thought it was from the outside and after closing the window, it stopped. We had a new guest punch in the key code and open our room. Not sure why they were given our room and code. No place to hang towels in the bathroom, only one bar on the door. Very small room which is hard to ascertain from the pictures. Double bed but one person has to crawl over the other to get out. Breakfast was nice but limited and in a very small room for the size of the guests the two sites hold. The lobbies in each site have great 1920s character. We were ok for one night but would not recommend more. It was great there was free parking and an easy walk to downtown and restaurants. No problem walking around at night.

During our entire stay in Iceland (so far), this has been the best hotel - professional, helpful staff, very comfortable and clean room, great bed and big pillows, clean bathroom, great location (near shops and restaurants) and plenty of free nearby parking

This hotel was fantastic! The staff was super helpful and nice, and everything was designed so beautifully. Breakfast was amazing and even had gluten free options. The only reason for 4 stars was the noise level. We could hear people walking outside our window, and when anyone would close their door in the hallway, it was super loud. We also heard really loud construction hammering in the morning which was unfortunate. I would still absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone, I would only suggest that you bring earplugs with you. This isn't the fault of the hotel, it's just the way it's built. But honestly loved this place and would stay here again!

Eccentric design choices

Breakfast was outstanding. Room was very small. It was fine for the one night I stayed but a longer stay would have been inconvenient.

Hotel Dynheimar and Hotel Akureyri are operated by the same management. This review is for the Akureyri. This hotel has very cool decor! The lobby has funky and fun furniture, a nice bar, free pool table, and plays mellow tunes. Even the hallways have cool artwork. The included breakfast was good, and the restaurant fare is reported to be great (it was booked up a day in advance so we couldn't try it out tho). I would recommend that breakfast diners also consider carrying their plates to the nearby lobby to eat, as the dedicated dinning area is quite small and fills up quickly. The lobby is awesome so enjoy this option! Tip:The surrounding area and town are very walkable, and there is a beautiful botanical garden at the top of the hill with an awesome cafe. Check it out if the weather is good!
