Villa Park Sun Island Resort

We visited Sun Island Resort and Spa for a 6 night Water Villa stay on 10th Sep 2022. We had two bookings for a total of 4 people, with 2 of us staying in a Sunrise Water Villa (also simply known as Water Villa) and the other 2 staying at Sunset Water Villa. We really had a great time during our stay and enjoyed absolutely everything this beautiful island had to offer. Here is our overall experience as much detailed as possible. Getting there. We travelled from Mumbai, India and had a total travel time of approx. 8 to 9 hours (one way). We took off from Mumbai at 10:30 AM and arrived at Velena International Airport at Male at 1:00 PM local time. We easily found our way to the Sun Island counter located at the airport exit and were politely guided to the next domestic airline check-in by the attendant. The domestic flight would take us to Maamigili airport and was scheduled to depart at 3:00 PM. This flight duration was around 30 mins and they also provided a snack and a beverage. After landing at Maamigili airport, we were directed to a mini air-conditioned bus, which took us to the boat dock in about 5 mins. Soon thereafter a speedboat took us to Sun Island in about 5 to 10 mins. We arrived at the resort reception at 4:00 PM. Check-in experience. We were greeted by a friendly woman (whose name I don’t recall unfortunately) and she quickly gave us a brief about the layout of the entire resort. As we had booked the All-Inclusive (AI) package, she also explained to us our entitlements and pointed out all the bars and restaurants along with their timings. They also asked us if we would like to have a late lunch after a long travel, but we instead opted for the evening snacks which were served at the nearby coffee shop. After that we took a golf cart buggy to our rooms. As the Island is huge, a lot of times we had to rely on the buggy service which is helpful getting from one place to another. Also, the buggy drivers are always polite and always ready to help. Water Villas Both our Water Villa’s had extremely breath-taking views and the upkeep and cleanliness of our rooms was excellent. Housekeeping staff would clean the rooms twice a day and refill our daily minibar entitlements as per our AI package (2 juices, 2 soft drinks, 2 beers, 2 wine, 2 can of Pringles). Ismail was in charge of housekeeping for my room and he was extremely polite and very good with his job. Drinking and Dining experience With AI, we have 3 buffet meals daily at breakfast, lunch and dinner and we were never even once disappointed with the wide spread of food choices at the buffet. The live counters attracted my attention as there was daily something different to taste. There are two restaurants, Maaniya (for all guests from Beach and Sun Villas) and Southern Star (for all guests from Water Villas) which were the buffet meals are served. While Maaniya was the bigger restaurant of the two, we really preferred to dine at the Southern Star mainly because of the proximity to our rooms, and also because of the super polite staff who happily greeted us everytime and seemed to be very eager to make our experience more magical. Special mentions from the Southern Star restaurant – Tia who would welcome and greet us daily with bright smile. Samy, Silva and Rakesh from the live counters. Shah-Alum from the fruit counter who artistically designed a fruit plate for us on our final night. Sugahi who was one of the main chefs. Milinda who served our table and had decorated our table nicely on our farewell night (I took as many pics as possible of everyone and apologise if I missed out anyone who made our stay even more enjoyable). Besides the meals, we explored many different bars around the resort which served a huge variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages which were part of our AI package. The Main Pool bar is located close to the huge swimming pool and have daily evening entertainment activities like fireshows, live bands, DJ nights etc. There is also a bar located inside the swimming pool which serves drinks to those enjoying the swimming pool. Another Golf Bar which has a neat little mini golf course next to it. And another Beach bar located near the Water Sports area located to the far east end of the island, close to the beautiful Sand bank. There is also a Coffee Shop located close to the reception which is open 24 hrs and serves drinks from 10 AM. We loved the Cappuccino there, thanks to Sagar the Barista. I also enjoyed the acoustic live bands which played almost everyday, and the Manager Biju also dedicated a nice song for us during our last evening there. There are two Ala Carte restaurants serving Thai food and Italian food and our AI package also included one free meal per person on any restaurant of our choice for a minimum 5 night stay. We opted for a meal in the Italian Restaurant and it was a delicious four course meal and they also served drinks as per our AI inclusions. Excursions and Water sports activities As part of our AI package, we were entitled for one hour of Canoeing and Wind Surfing daily. We went for canoeing for a couple of days and enjoyed it. Besides this, we also got a free Sunset Fishing excursion for a 6 night stay and it last for 2.5 hours. We also signed up for a mini submarine ride and which lasted for 40 mins and we got to see the beautiful coral reefs and infinite marine life around the island. Overall it was truly a great vacation for all of us and there are absolutely no negative points that I can think of during our stay. I will recommend the AI package for anyone so that you enjoy drinks on almost every corner of the island AND you can never go hungry thanks to the buffet meals.

This is regarding our experience during 2 day long stay in superior beach bungalow of sun island. Well i booked the Villa Park Sun Island Resort through make my trip. Once I reached male, the Villa Park Sun Island Resort representatives guided us clearly enough to take the domestic flight and from there to reach resort was very well managed! You will have to pay much for two way transit charges between airport and Villa Park Sun Island Resort and green tax per person. The resort is very beautifully maintained. This is a huge resort and it has a capacity close to 1000 persons at a time. We chose to take bed and breakfast. The good room option can be bed and break fast, full board or all inclusive. B&B has included breakfast, full board has all 3 meals included, all inclusive contains food along with liquor unlimited. Each person will be given with id card which has to be hand carried while going to all places. The amount spent on each activity / food expenses will be recorded against your id card and will be collected during your exit. We visited in mid of March and it was sunny and usually very humid. The Villa Park Sun Island Resort room is provided with 600 ml of complementary water bottle which is usually not sufficient. The room has a spacious bathroom, 24 hr AC, TV facility, Tea making facilities, comfortable couple bed, site out inside and outside the home. The room has an exit towards the beach, a very good relaxing bench in the beach. The room service was really very nice and makes sure all our requirements are met. The breakfast is open till 10 AM in the morning where one can get Indian, western and Chinese type food. Delightful breakfast for non vegetarians. Good and wise economic option to be taken is bed and breakfast package. Very disappointed with drinks since they give a 330 ml beer and it has an alcohol content of 4.5% only. Also only 40 ml for hot drinks. It's better to take all inclusive package if alcohol is an important part of your trip plan. Otherwise it was a pleasant stay with a lot of restaurants inside the island to chose our food menu. A bicycle for rent can make our life beautiful and happy since this resort has too much area to cover. We planned two days in beach resort and two days on water villa. This review is only about standard beach bungalow.

Overall, sun island was one of the best resorts which we have stayed minus the operational hassles which we needed to face. All the staff in sun island were very cooperative. I would like to thank manna and mohsin from buggy team to help us travel from one place to another in the island. In manniya restaurant i would like to thank katlyne, mohammed (both) and the coffee maker person to help us with the buffet. From the start of my trip to the end there were lot of operational issues like 1. We were 2 adults and one child (they charged me the transfer fee for 3 adults. It got sorted out after a few minutes argument) 2. We had booked and already paid for 3 nights in beach pool villa and 1 night in water villa, we wanted to change 1 night of water villa and wanted to continue into beach pool villa. One of the front office staff told that i would be charged $225 as an additional fee for changing the room, after a lot of explaining and quarrel and after showing the rate difference in their own to some another front office staff they after have many approval from their seniors finally charged me with $50 for change in the room. 3. The biggest goof up which was done was that my check out from the resort was on 26th may and at the start i had confirmed that i would like to have a transfer to the airport at 11am, to my surprise just to reconfirm on 25th night at 11pm. I got to know that they have not booked my transfer for 26th may as in their systems it was showing my checkout date as 27th may. After a heated arguments and quarrel for an hour and a half, they finally booked my transfer for 26th may but at 3pm in front desk, i would like to specially thank dhaniya who help us sort all the operational issues.

I had booked my stay for 3 days while my holiday trip to Maldives at Sun Island Resorts & Spa from 21st Feb 2020 to 24 Feb 2020. Sun Island Resort and Spa is located in Nalaguraidhoo, South ari Atoll. The Private island is beautifully located surrounded by Aqua blue Sea, Plethora of Marine life under the sea beds ,various breeds of marine animals visible near the beaches, cool Breezes of fresh air brewing from the sea, peacefully located beach bungalows giving a sense of relaxation & Peace of mind. The food was served at Maaniya Restaurant located near the reception offering abundant variety of delicious dishes. However, as regards vegetarian food, there were very limited options but the Food was very delicious and tasty. The service right from representative at Resort counters at airports to the representatives and employees at the resorts were highly commendable. All the Staff were nicely groomed, good hospitality towards the guest, very friendly and very polite in there conversations. Mrs. Archana at the reception was extremely professional in her hospitality service & I really grateful for her stupendous service. The one thing I liked about the staff is their superb coordination between different departments be it reception, logistic, Villa Park Sun Island Resort staff, room cleaning etc, All were very polite, friendly and very cooperative. I would surely Like to visit Sun Island Resort & Spa for my future trip at Maldives.

We were welcomed at the reception with an executive by the Villa Park Sun Island Resort, that was very generous or else in other Villa Park Sun Island Resorts we have to stand at the reception front number, the room was clean and the housekeeping was very kind and generous, the food was very delicious, they had all varieties, either it be Indian or Western, Indians would love the food here and the most awesome part was that, they had a huge variety of food, The Menu changed everyday, The food of Maaniya as well as Southern Star was Awesome, even though the staff was very helpful, kind and generous, they would bring water the moment ur glass gets empty and would take the used play's before we go and get other ones, proper hygiene and safety was maintained at all the places, we were not allowed to take food at the Buffet without masks, the whole staff wore masks each and every time, the whole island was owned by the property, I would recommend everyone to visit this Resort, It Was the Best Resorts I have visited till Now. I have been to many resorts but would reccomend this resort as the Best !! ☺️

A shoutout for the entire staff at sun island - hospitality is embedded in their culture. Loved the ocean villas and the beach villas. Great view - they feed sharks and rays - easy to spot. Island has a store as well as souvenir store. Plane ride had good views but it was not a sea plane - it took us to mamigli. From there it was small ferry ride to sun island. Food was decent - have the full-board as it saves you a lot of trouble. Resort offers complimentary cake and wine for anniversaries and bdays. There are many restaurants - full-board and halfboard and breakfast happen at maaniya and southern star(for ocean villas. There is a 24x7 cafe (vani) on the beach, another cafe in garden, a sea restaurant on the lagoon, a jungle style restaurant(reminiscent of bali, a beach bar and a few more restaurants. They have incredible tours like whale spotting, village visits etc. Recommended please note that in maldives, they dont accept even slightly torn notes unlike in india.

Good Resort with warm and courteous staff. The only issue we had was on our checkout day. We were informed at 8:10 in the morning that the next speed boat is at 8:30 hours. Such hassle could have been easily avoided with a little planning. Rest all was extremely great and pleasant. I would recommend people to opt for full board, accommodation plus three meals a day if available at a good price. There are 5 different restaurants serving Asian, Indian, Thai, Italian and other foods. Water villas are good. The other types of accommodation are good as well. Mosquitoes are a bit of trouble at some places. Its better to carry snorkeling and swimming gear if possible. Bicycles can be hired to go around the Island. Anyone planning for a relaxed holiday with not much to explore will be happy at this place.

The island is good.. Pristine and clean beaches... Awesome landscape and nice set of activities from the Villa Park Sun Island Resort end. A must visit for beach lovers. The Villa Park Sun Island Resort amenities are also good. We stayed in Sunset Villas which are close to the beaches. The water villas are awesome too. Food is excellent and the buffet has an extensive range of food items. The Villa Park Sun Island Resort people actually prepare dishes which caters to the culinary taste buds of the people currently occupying the Villa Park Sun Island Resort. All in all a good place to relax and rejuvenate yourself. Do explore the rich flora and fauna around the island and the rich ocean life around the beaches and treat your eyes to the beautiful blue water of the ocean.

I have travelled 17 countries and have stayed in finest of resorts and Villa Park Sun Island Resorts. Will rate sun villa in top 2. Food is amazing and prepared with fine detailing. Staff there is to pamper you with comfort. You might feel resort is expensive at time of booking but its worth once you land up there. Its a one time life experience. Advice: 1. 4 days stay is sufficient. 2 in beach villa and 2 in water villa. 2. Take a full board else it might get expensive. 3. Get complete details on amminities and services you can avail on day one from reception. 4. Try to be there before monsoon as sea gets rough and chances of water activities getting cancel are high.

We had a great stay, location is excellent and quite scenic. Staff is polite and courteous, rooms are spacious and clean. They have quite a few restaurants spread across resort, so you don't get bored with same food options. Good for snorkelling and they also offer other water activities like scuba, wind surfing etc. One need to take a domestic flight from Mali to reach here (20-30 minutes). These are again operated by resort affiliates schedule for these are fixed. So better check with Resort about domestic flight schedule and book international flights accordingly or you may spend/waste few hours waiting at airport.

Amazing place to stay, you can live for entire week or even more. You can relax and enjoy many activities and joyful events at the place. The activities on the island are very costly, so better to plan it elsewhere if you are tight on budget. Also, the special request like honeymoon decorations or the honeymoon freebies you have to follow up multiple times and even then they might miss it, very bad amazing experience with it. This was sent at the time of booking as well as repeatedly enquired at the property multiple times and yet they failed to provide any services for the same.

Very good stay in Sun Island Resort.

We stayed here for a couple of days and it was a great experience. The resort has beautiful beaches and the staff is very very helpful. The newer beach villas are just amazing and highly recommended to stay in. The included buffet has good choices and is very well organised. Must stay. Highly recommended.

A perfect resort for everybody, be it a couple or family or group of friends. Very cooperative and friendly staff. Recommended to everybody to visit.

We stayed there for 4 nights in a beach villa, I must say it was one of the best holidays we had. Very cooperating staffs, very clean island with lots of amenities. Villas are right next to beach so you can have anytime accessibility of beach (almost sort of private beach). It's a big island and will take time to explore things, many restaurants to cater your hunger needs.

This is a good and clean Resort. All staff is well behave. Hotel service is excellent.

The beauty of the resort ll artificial in the first click but you have to be here to believe that such place exists on earth. The location is bit far from male but the at r trip is worth every penny as you get the view of garland of islands

We inform our departure at 8:45am that ship will depart at 9:00 am. There is no prior information about that and it's return on Villa Park Sun Island Resort policy that 12:00 pm is to there departure time. We talked about this with their staff but didnot get sufficient response from their end. Finally our breakfast got skipped and need to be deported at there timings i. E. 9 am

We had great time as a honeymooner couple. Sun Island had nice night activities such as Mr. Hotel, Fakir show. Lot of variety in food even for vegetarians like us. Indian food was also superb. Photoshoot arranged by the resort guys was also well planned. We did snorkeling and it was worth doing as we could see lot of fish and reefs in the shallow water. Reception and room service was awesome. The airport transfers were very well managed.

Overall beautiful stay. Beautifully decorated.

Staffs here are very cordial. U get to enjoy the breathtaking beauty of maldives with sun island, with no concerns regarding the sanitation, cleanliness or any other issues. They have a perfect infrastructure to minimize contact and to maintain the safety of the guests.

Location is very excellent and perfect landscape etc. Restaurants are very good and clean. We enjoyed foods. Very tasty food compared to other resorts restaurant. Service also excellent. We traveled many countries but Maldives Sun Island we can't forget.

Nice view. Budget wise it is good. Food is awesome, but prebook food while going, as food is very expensive if you order there. Overall nice stay

Stayed in the sunset beach villa for 4 days and water villa for 2 days. Both worth it. I think one should experience both. The buffet spreads were lavish with 4/5 live counters. Both the veg and non veg options were ample along with the desserts. Chef samiran was very helpful in preparing baby food for my 1 year 10 month daughter. Overall care and staff behaviour was excellent. Had a lovely stay. 10 on 10.

Snorkeling and sailing excursions was awesome. Lots of place to go snorkeling!

Excellent Villa Park Sun Island Resort with superb amenities. Distance from Male airport is the only drawback but rest every thing is perfect. We has a 3 day/night stay there and felt like spending more time as apart from the resort, the island is also big so there are lot to explore there.

We spent our 5th anniversary in sun island in jul 2019. The only one issue was the waiting time at domestic terminal. Apart from that, everything was well managed, well maintained. The property is superb, huge, beautiful and well maintained. Dinner was ok, breakfast was good. Pick up and drop was an issue, as we had to wait while reaching, and while returning we were booked at an early flight than our scheduled one, so we had a long wait at maldives airport. Nevertheless, the stay was fine, relaxing and worth a visit.
