It is not usual hotel. It is a fort built by british governer. It is in heart of the colombo city. So, we can see all the tourist places from here, which are very close to this hotel.

Very bare amenities, unhygienic room. Cockroaches were there, average breakfast, poor toiletries, hotel veranda smells cigarettes, charged even for drinking water, poorly maintained ac and was not adequate cooling. Location good nesr bazar. But sought seeing places sped across.

The hotel is in shabby state / lights in room are very dim / not working/ don't know why would they still use yellow lights in 2024 / rooms are not well lit hot water supply was not in room / beds were made dirty / some construction work is going on in neighboring rooms even in night time / i hope they improve

The ambience and staff behaviour is good, the harbour view is amazing. Rooms are clean and neat, giving a vintage themed feel. Overall best in terms of location and budget, value for money.

We family of 3 stayed in grand oriental hotel, york street colombo. It is an awesome property in the heart of city and all markets, museums and casinos are in close vicinity. Best decision for our vacation to stay in grand oriental hotel.

It was such a wonderful experience to stay in a heritage hotel. Located in the heart of colombo city, tourist attractions are quite close to this property in fact some of it is walkable. The heritage vibe is well maintained, the room was really good. However, food/beverage services are quite pricy, even water turned out to be a bit expensive. Apart from that, a real good stay.

The person who's contact details was shared in bookings was very helpful and friendly. He actually guided me properly for my tour, but the front office service was really very bad, no bell boy was assigned, the just gave me the key and didn't even care to say which floor is my room located. The allotted room doesn't even have inner lick at the main door, they just had the chain strap to stop open the door completely. The harbour entrance is located at the next campus, we could not sleep comfortably as it was very noisy. I will definitely not recommend this hotel. The ha

Horrible hotel and horrible attitude of people, they don’t have value for indian guest and cheating attitude. Wash rooms are worst, food is worst, tv not functioning. No value for guests staying inside and worried about money only. I suggest guests not to use this hotel any more

Very smelly and one bulb in room, tiny bathroom. Hotel lobby is beautiful but it has a stale smell when you enter.

Location of property is good. Hotel is too outdated and deteriorated further than what i stayed last time. Room, bathroom is too outdated with the old box type tv. No proper shower in bathroom and hot water does'nt come. Food is very average. Breakfast spread too is very average. There is no room service menu in the room, even the phone number of reception, restaurant is not mentioned on the room phone. The front office even refused to help me with changing my us dollar when i had to leave for the airport on sun-day morning (exchange shops were closed nearby. I requested them that even if the exchange rates are bad is not an issue, just help with changing a few so that i can pay the taxi. But no help from the hotel. Wouldn't stay in this hotel henceforth and wouldn't recommend too. Unless you are having too much budget constraints.
