Great hotel, great locations and at a great price.

No matter how many times myself and the agency attempted to contact this property about my arriving there later than planned (and eventually having to miss my stay there), they did not respond AT ALL!!!!

+ very good location in Xicheng in 5 min by foot to Tiān'ānmén square. Around a lot of food court and small shops. - the reception is not friendly, the hotel is very very tired, rooms are small and look like students campus.

The night time receptionist Mr Eei is very patient and helpful, you cannot expect much for the low price. Overall I am great I book this inexpensive for my transfer layover in Beijing. The location is excellent, easy walking from station. And fun surrounding in the typical Beijing Hutong. But WiFi is very weak.

Such a cute hotel with great courtyards. The staff was wonderful. The only downside was cleanliness was under the beds. The location was perfect, close to everything.

Very good location but the hotel room toilet door can’t close totally spoilt
Just OK, Fair for the price & great location.

It seems most of their clientele is Chinese , but still it would be good to have some english speaking stuff. Translate app is how they communicate. I didn’t get the right room the first night with private bath. The shared bath was freezing cold. No heat and open window and it was snowing outside. Rock hard bed and only a space heater in the room. I did get moved to a better room the next day. The bed was still hard but the heat worked and it had a toilet. When the power strip didn’t work they replaced it. Overall, it;s about what i expected for the cost. It wasn’t much more expensive than a dorm bed in a hostel. And it could not be more centrally located. So,emof the listed amenities were not available, such as free bicycle use and hot water in common area (second room had water kettle). The building could use some maintenance. My impression is that the staff are trying but the management is setting them up for failure with all of the deferred maintenance.

- Weak in English communications - poor breakfast - Room was very small - Did not have a proper shower - Poor service for Taxi - Taxi does not have access to the alley, I and one of the hotel employee had to drag all the luggages to the hotel

Pictures are deceiving. This hotel is in a good location but hard to find. Staff were unhelpful and seemed annoyed at our questions about taxis or distances to nearby locations. The WiFi did not work throughout our stay. The surrounding neighborhood is quite loud and could hear people talking and coughing all night. Bathroom has the kind of shower that’s a shower head over the floor, no curtain so everything gets wet. It feels more like a hostel than a hotel.
Comfy Bed - Overall good place to stay

Overall it's a nice place to stay. The bed was very comfortable which we really needed after hiking the great wall. However, on our first night, they moved us to a different hotel because something was wrong with our room, or they overbooked. But that other hotel had a terrible bed - it was literally just a comforter on top of a wood platform and they didn't take any money off for that one night. Also, their website says they offer an "Airport Shuttle" but it's not an airport shuttle. They just have a guy at the front desk call a taxi for you and it costs 280RMB which is 150RMB more than you would pay if you just get a taxi yourself (It cost us around 120RMB to get to the hotel by taxi) It's a cool looking place to experience staying in a Hutong and it's close to shopping and about a 10 min walk from the nearest subway.
Not worth the price

You are basically paying for the outside of the hotel looks. The room is not clean and smells of mold.
Best of the best in Beijing for a budget trip!

Staying in Beijing Hyde Courtyard Hotel was the best choice. i ) Short walk to 大栅栏 shopping area. Best place to get cheap souvenirs and food too. ii ) Staffs friendliness and kindness. They helped me out on moving to another hotel as I wanted to extend my stay in Beijing and unfortunately they were fully booked on the dates. They willingly helped me out on making reservations on another place nearby. iii ) Cleanliness and spacious of the room. Considering of how much you’ve paid, I think it is worth it.

Good hotel with nice services. Will come again for stay

A really decent place to stay. Walking distance to Tiananmen Square and Forbidden City. Easiest way to find it is walk south on Qianmen street (a very nice walking street with no vehicles). Once you see the H & M clothing shop, go right at the alley. The hotel is on the right with red lanterns hanging from the only 4 story building. A fun interior with lots of Chinese traditional character. Will go there again!

Old and not clean hotel

I had 3 days in the hotel. The good things: close to Tianamen square and food street. Staff is OK. One guy, his name is Bill, is very friendly, but others are not. Room is too old and dank. Wall and Toilet are mould. Towels are old and teared. I think the hotel should be upgraded .

Very bad!!! Terrible smell in the room and bathroom, full of cockroaches, bathroom tab leaking, mould overall, damaged wall paper, etc, etc.....and dust on and under all furnitures Smelly and dirty street around
Incredibly corrupt hotel - please be careful

There is some kind of corruption scheme meant to cheat you going on in this hotel! And when we were checking out we witnessed how the hotel was doing to another family the exact same horrible thing they did to us, so this might be common for them. Read on: 1)They didn't respect our reservation even though they had our Hotels.com booking with them, so on our first night we had to sleep in the lobby. The guy in the front desk (who didn't speak English), said (through an app) that there was a leakage in our room and that's why they couldn't give it to us. However, once other staff members arrived, they told us a different thing: that they were fully booked and that's why they didn't give us a room--for which we had already paid for! They refused to give us a refund. By 7am there were already 5 staff members and they were so rude that they were even laughing at our insistence of calling the manager or of getting some compensation for the night they never gave us. In the end they gave us free breakfast for two days, which meant that they covered 7 EUR of the 56 EUR we paid for one night. Sleeping in the lobby--in the breakfast area--was extremely humiliating, even more as my mother had a cold. 2) While we were checking out, a French family was arriving and the hotel was doing the exact same thing to them. And again, the only person that the hotel decided to leave in their front desk, was the staff member who didn't know how to speak English, so the family couldn't do anything.
Good for the price

This is my second stay at the Hyde and probably my last. The first time I think I have it 4 or 5 stars, this time I'm a more experienced Beijing visitor and am giving it 3. The good points: it's cheap, clean, the a/c works, and the beds are comfortable. So if you're looking for an inexpensive place to crash, it's fine. Main negative is the location. It's on a narrow and shabby alley (a hutong). First time I thought it was cool in a third-world sort of way. Now that I know the city better, I see that it's just a crummy neighborhood, smelly and dirty. Not dangerous, just sort of rundown. Also, the standard room is really small, with no space to even put your suitcase, and the shower is just jammed in between the sink and toilet. So if you stay here, definitely upgrade to the "family suite" which is much better.
