Horrible location

Horrible location, cars don’t go up the inclined road that has lots of holes and rocks

I’d like to first rate the owner and operator, Ms Barbara, she was awesome, a solid 10. The facilities, ….well, it depends on who you are and what you’re looking for. If you’re backpacking through and you just need a place to crash it will be perfect. Well, almost perfect. If you’re not a backpacker Roatan BnB may not be as convenient as you had imagined. The building is a charming wood structure that has seen better days and maintenance: Windows and doors, screens, don’t all operate as they should. Appliances, WiFi, too don’t always operate. One unit had a tv but the other unit did not. One ceiling fan wobbled and it looked dangerously close to falling. A kitchen table was broken and it was haphazardly patched up instead of being replaced. Sundays are the maid’s day off so there are no services that day. The building is located some 600 meters uphill from the beach which enjoys refreshing breezes all day long. Hot showers are available but if the BnB is under heavy use the water cistern may get all used up leaving the facilities with no water. I get it, and to a large extent I understand: it’s island life, the Caribbean, and no posh location; the price reflecting the age and wear of the facilities so overall it was OK.

The host Barbara was very friendly and welcoming, and her property is beautiful! We enjoyed relaxing in our room and the AC was essential to catching up on sleep. The rooftop views of the ocean and walking distance to the main street completed our first day in the island.

The lady is nice, unfortunately we had to leave the first night on a non refundable policy with more nights paid. The conditions are terrible especially because i was traveling with my baby and there was spiders everywhere, mushrooms growing out of the wood inside the rooms. Completely false advertisement and not what seeing on the pictures.

Beautiful bed and breakfast!! A treehouse paradise with Swiss Family Robinson vibes. Breakfast was served at the time of your request and always delicious. 10/10 recommend staying here if you’re alone or traveling with a partner/friend. The owner is sweet, friendly, and always available for questions. The property and view is absolutely beautiful.

The property is gorgeous, clean, and feels like a natural part of it's surroundings. I love the rooftop terrace with a 360 view of the ocean and the trees - I spent some time up there every evening. It's quiet and peaceful and Barbara is wonderful! It was fun chatting with her and she never hesitated to lend a hand and guide me on certain aspects of the island.
Rustic Roatan Adventure

Roatan B&B Apartments is perched high up on a hill above West Bay. Taking the road up is an adventure in itself, and somehow walking (minus bags) ends up feeling faster than the drive. The house is built almost entirely with wood and fits well into the tropical scenery. A terrific hammock crosses the downstairs porch and I spent a few hours relaxing and reading in it. What a visitor needs to know and expect is that the accommodations are quite rustic. There is no A/C and I'm pretty sure there isn't glass in the bedroom window at all. Fortunately, although it was a super hot summer day, the breeze from the fan and the window were able to keep us cool enough for sleep. There aren't bathroom toiletries aside from small bars of soap at the sinks, we had two bath towels and a floor towel, and you can't put toilet paper in the toilet (as is the case in most non-resort places in the Bay Islands). Barbara, the owner, is a wonderful Italian woman. We really enjoyed our conversations with her and she was happy to help out however needed, including a ride down into town. Just don't go into this expecting an American-level motel room type situation and you'll be fine. It's really more of a summer camp cabin type experience.
Would not recomended

My husband and I spent the Christmas holiday at the Roatán Bed and Breakfast and had a wonderful time. The home itself feels like a giant treehouse, and we couldn't get enough of how beautiful the trees and plants were. The views of the ocean made it wonderful to wake up every day. The owner, Barbara, is a lovely person. Breakfast was excellent every morning and got us started off on the right foot. Our room was cleaned daily. Barbara is friendly, fun, and informative! Our chats with Barbara and her two kitty cats were some of the best times we had on the island. We were right in choosing to stay in West end, and this B&B is close to all the fun activities. We used the services of Lionardo a gentleman on the island who gives rides and tours and we're very happy (504) 8800-4741. Also check out JC's Adventure Tours down on Half Moon Bay for an excellent snorkeling experience (504) 9901-7435. We highly recommend Roatán Bed and Breakfast to anyone looking for a fun, comfortable spot close to the action. We are looking forward to returning and staying much longer the next time.

Rustic retreat feel with beautiful jungle and ocean views walking distance to shopping/restaurants/dive shops/bars of West End. Owner took great care to make guests feel at home.

I booked this property last minute, I like the "Tree House" look. Great place to stay. Baraba is the BEST, and very very helpful. She arranged my farry pick up for a great price. The property is about a 8 minute walk to the main street, and many taxi available. The property also has a small parking area, great for a small car or motor bike. Can't wait to stay again.

Roatan Bed & Breakfast is a jewel of the West End tucked back from town up on the ridge, the B&B offers lovely rooms and fantastic personal service from the owner Barbara and her staff. From the balcony, where everyone gathers you are treated to great ocean views and cooling breezes. Over delicious breakfast you get the opportunity to meet people from all over and make friends.

The main problem with the property is the long un-marked drive up a gutted narrow hilly road that almost takes a 4WD to get up, and a good GPS to find the right building. And if it is raining, you are taking your life in your hands if you drive that road. Parking is limited to about 2 cars, and takes a lot of skillful turning to get in or out and could be outright dangerous to the unskilled or those with anything but a very small car. But the room and staff and breakfast were otherwise excellent. It would also be nice if the rooms had WiFi available in them. Neither the Property or even the office door were marked so it was a job to find the right location.

Barbara the owner is full of Aloha! She makes a great breakfast, thee best coffee and is one of those rare gems you come across when you travel abroad. And she has the best smile ever. I loved the woodwork of the home/structure - very beautiful. All the trees, birds, and quiet was perfect for me. It was actually ideal to be away from the main road with all the tourist, hustle. The five minute walk is very simple and worth every step. I slept with my door open - enjoying the safety and mild wind. The wifi worked great and I highly recommend. Mahalo Pumehana to Barbara and sending out a great Happy New Year

Barbara and the staff are so great and accommodating. There’s no AC, but you get an okay breeze through the windows. The b&b is is little farther from the beach than I thought. It takes about 12 minutes to walk to the beach, and you’re walking up and down gravelly hills. The breakfast they served each morning was so good!(eggs, fresh fruit, toast, coffee, and juice). Also, Barbara organized for taxi to pick us up and take us to the airport for only $25 each way. It’s definitely not a hotel, but it’s pretty good considering its price. Thank you for the stay, Barbara.

Wondering Why I cant see the previous review I wrote about this place. Not only Hotels . Com lies about the amenities of this plcae, but also prevents others from reading the bad experience I had. I lost my money and hotels.com only gave me a 100$ credit. This place is really bad. Now I see why I got to see only good coments. They both hide or simply they dont pushish bad reviews. Very this honest bussineses both Hotels.com and Roatan Aparments
Like staying in a treehouse

Barbara, the host, responded quickly to our last minute reservation and request for the airport "shuttle". Which we found to actually be a taxi for $25. But werr glad to have someone waiting to pick us up. The road to the house has hills, is very narrow, had gravel and bumpy. Only certain taxis will drive that road. If you choose to walk from the house to the main road to the restaurants etc, be aware. It does take 10 minutes to walk and gets very dark at night with only the occasional street/house light. The house and the room were clean. No frills. You get soap and two bath towels. Hotel.com states there is AC but only a fan. The breeze does blow through nicely. Filtered water in the kitchen. Barbara makes breakfast and chose an omelette, toast and fruit. She was willing to adjust my omelette ingredients and remove the toast for my food allergies. Check in was smooth, check out okay. We had to wait 20 minutes while she visited with someone that she obviously knew and had just arrived I believe. Then had to wait another 15 minutes after she called us a taxi to pick us up. Overall, Barbara was pleasant. The wifi worked until the power went out with the storm. You get a slight view of the ocean, but a beautiful view of the trees with birds and flowers!
Good for backpackers, not for a family of 5

We requested a room for 5 and when we got there in the bed room was a full bed, a twin mattress on the floor and in the living room there was one full bed that had a rod going down the middle. The bathroom was dirty when we got there. Maybe this was because we came in a busy time of year, but still. The hotel is cute with a spiral staircase so it resembles a tree house, and for a couple backpacking it is cool, but we were very cramped. Also, it is located on a side road up a non-paved hill and the rent-a-car bottomed out a couple times. It is far to walk at night to go down to the beach so we felt a little stir-crazy there as we did not want to ruin the car.
