Great hotel and very Zen, close to a number of transport hubs which is handy to get around Kyoto. Not too many places to eat nearby however the hotel has a great bar and snacks so makes up in that area! Highly recommend it!!
The booked room had a terrible smell, as other reviewers have noted. We asked reception to change us to another, which they kindly did. However the same horrible smell was present throughout our stay. The odor is hard to describe. A mixture of sweat, cigarette smoke and old carpet all-in-one that gets you everytime you walked into the room. In contrast, the ground floor lobby area smelled fine and became our refuge throughout the evenings until it was time to go sleep. All in all, quite disappointed with the room quality. Not worth the money. Also quite surprised that the hotel didn't have a formal restaurant, just a self-serve amenities area.
Walking distance to Kyoto Station. Good faculties for self-serve food and drink in the lounge area.

However, there were notable issues. Cleanliness was lacking, especially around the toilet seat. Additionally, the breakfast offerings were limited, particularly for those who don't eat pork. The absence of basic breakfast items like croissants and cereal, along with the lack of hot food, made the breakfast experience less satisfying. While the 24-hour food option is a convenient feature, it may be worth considering dining out for breakfast in the future.
Overall, while the hotel has its strengths, addressing cleanliness and improving breakfast variety could enhance the overall guest experience.
Had a lovely stay. Rooms were clean and tidy. Location was convenient for train station. Lobby was welcoming and so were staff. Especially loved the touch of the free pyjamas.

Horrible. Do not stay. As a frequent traveller and after staying in hundreds of hotels globally and in Japan, this was by far the worst. First, the bathrooms are super small, like, really small. Zero space to place your things. Then, they do not clean your room, and this is part of their "green"policy. Then, the rooms have zero view. A small tiny window that is blurred and can barely open. Also, if you travel with kids this will not consider your kids and hence not provide separate beds or else. Service was inexistant, spoke little english I asked for extra pillows and they told me they do not have any. Feels like a hostel. Shame on you Hoshino!
Great hotel in a great location. close to a mall and kyoto station. Staff speaks english and is very friendly. can’t recommend this hotel enough! Great izakaya down the street as well.

There’s a home-like comfort to the property, from my room to the lobby and it made my stay all the more enjoyable. The rooms were a nice size and the staff were super helpful. The food and beverage area was really well stocked and purchasing items was really easy. Toji Station, Lawson, and lots of shopping were within a 10 minute walk which made getting around super easy. Toji Temple was within walking distance as well which was such a treat and I enjoyed it a lot. I definitely won’t hesitate to book here again the next time I visit the Kyoto area.

New Hotel in Good Location
The free breakfast turned out to be a voucher for a food area on the lobby floor. Prepackaged food and drinks were available with microwave etc for heating/preparing food. The advantage of this system was that one could use the vouchers at any time. And there were New Year sweets available. :-)
The hotel is about a ten minute walk from the station and close to an Aeon Mall with cinema and to convenience stores and to a Nos Burgers and to a KFC and to a Book Off.

We like the hotel the moment we entered as it has a Zen look and chill corners with self servicing areas (quite appealing). The rooms are bigger than my expectation and facilities are great, one of the better one during my stay in Japan. It's a 5 mins walk to Toji Temple, walkable distance to Kyoto main station, 3 mins walk to a mall (Aeon), and even a train station just a few mins walk away.
Great staff and memorable stay! All in all, a hotel that i would book again, anytime!

Messaged the property for updates and assistance via expedia and got very prompt replies. Staff was helpful and reassured me that I could get checked in past midnight. The property itself was comfortable and accessible as well.
