eileen.partnerDec 02, 2024 The hotel is top class. Staff are so friendly. Very easy to access the Universal parks either by boat or 15 minute walk. Restaurants , deli, coffee shop and bars on site were great but lots of choice at City Walk as well. We will definitely be back. Sad to leave!
leeann.familyDec 01, 2024 My two children and I just spent the past 4 days at Portofino Bay. The employees were very kind, accommodating, and extremely helpful. The hotel is gorgeous. Yes, there is construction going on, but the only thing that affected for us, was getting to the pool. It was a hike. Otherwise it was the perfect place. We enjoyed the boat ride to Universal and even tried the path to walk there. It was gorgeous! We would go back.

carolann.family_with_childrenNov 15, 2024 The hotel is outdated and currently under construction. All of this is okay, except we payed a premium to stay at this resort. We were given a room with scaffolding outside the window, which blocked the view. We were hung up on 2 times by staff when we called to ask for a room change. Our room was not cleaned, unless we called and asked, and then it was after 6 PM. Overall, the Hard Rock is a much better choice, and I would not stay here unless you have absolutely no choice.
The proximity to the parks and the express pass were great. Otherwise it was an average hotel, lots of renovation underway which is a good thing, the rooms and corridors are pretty outdated for the price being charged.

I booked a club level room here for 2 nights for my family of 5. We were on a 7 day trip from the UK visiting Universal Studios and this appealed due to the fast pass and food & drink inclusion. It was at the time of renovation and I was expecting the disruption to be worse than it was . Our room had no view as the window was blocked out and the temporary gym was tiny , but we popped into the one in Hard Rock instead which was amazing . We loved the pools at Portofino ..Villa pool was empty late at night for some family ball games , and we spent a fun afternoon at the Beach pool . My teenage boys loved the DJ, pool games & table tennis . Great idea to have Factor 30 SPF on tap poolside for guests . We enjoyed the lounge food : breakfast had a choice of fresh fruit /bagels and some hot food. Lunch was bags of crisps , salads ,bread cheese & ham. Dinner had some hot dishes , soup and salad. And cans of drinks from the fridge were very welcome . We used the water taxi into the parks then popped back for lunch and went in again in the evening. The fast passes were valid for the day we checked in and the day we checked out . Given the price of food in the Universal complex , for my hungry family of 5 this proved to be a cost effective option with the bonus of it being a lovely hotel and it added an extra dimension to the holiday .

Hotel is under construction so many amenities are not available. Price should have been reduced due to the condition of the hotel. Our lake view room had scaffolding and a tarp covering the window. Courtyard was empty due to construction. Had to walk through construction area to get to the pool. Paid too much for this experience.
Great place to stay for families. They are currently doing construction but it didn’t affect us too much!
It was an amazing experience. I would recommend it for any family.
royston d.partnerSep 28, 2024 The property had advertised construction was occurring but the level of construction is quite extreme. Our room window was covered with sheeting so you couldn’t see out. I would give this resort a miss until they finish construction as it’s quite intrusive! When we complained to conciege they said “it will be nice when it’s finished”.Wish we booked the Hard Rock instead for the Money we spent!
Portonfino Bay is beautiful. The staff are friendly. We use the water taxi to transport to and from the park, which is a lifesaver after HHN.
The hotel includes express passes and early entry to the parks. The pools are always wonderful.
We also love hearing the tenors and eating at Tratorea de Port.
Club level was Terrible!!
Poor level of food!!
