We were very happy with the friendly staff and the great room.
Comfortable base for Kakadu
This was a great place to stay while exploring Kakadu! The room was super clean, comfy, and spacious, which was fantastic given that it was necessary to return to the room during the hottest hours of the day. The restaurant was lovely, it was easy to get a good coffee drink first thing in the morning, the amenities were great, and everyone was friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.
Lovely hotel to stay in with all the facilities travellers could need including the nice dining room, air-con of course, and the onsite undercover pool. Great facility for the town and visitors - it is an attraction in itself with fantastic architecture and beautiful indigenous art displays.

Just one point missing for perfect was that’s getting some noise from early morning birds….
Anyway I can recommend you all from family with kids to elderly couples.
Very pleasant stay. Good sized room. comfortable p though bathroom slightly dated. Shame theres no lift.
Evening meals (a la carte) excellent.
Breakfast very expensive, food not very warm, cold plates.
Great property, awesome staff and the Art gallery has some fantastic paintings and artifacts.
A few tiny updates needed but otherwise a fabulous property.
Accommodation very good and convenient to visits the attractions of Kakadu.
Restaurant closing times however do not reflect the activities in the area. Eg to be accepting last dinner orders at 8:15 pm is too early when guests have been out viewing sunsets 45 mins drive from the resort.
We had a nice stay at Mercure. Spacious room and comfortable bed. Staff were lovely, mainly young overseas workers who did a great job. Aircon had a malfunction but was quickly repaired on request. Pool was refreshing. Food was very nice, had both the buffet and a la carte. All in all a very pleasant stay.

Poor state of repair - old and tired
We’ve stayed here a few times over the years - for the middle of nowhere it is fine but that’s it. More like a large motel.
Old and dated rooms - poor service - in desperate need of repair and maintenance.
We stayed for two nights and then moved to Cooinda Lodge which was much better!
A Highway motel at hotel prices - but they charge you as they’re the only option there! Embarrassing for the Mercure brand!
Overall it was a good and enjoyable stay. Some facilities seem a little rundown. As an iconic location I was expecting a bit more.

To get that type of accommodation in that area is great the people in jabiru were really friendly
French bar (men) staff were abrupt and not friendly. Room and complex a bit dated but overall a clean room. The guy on reception was lovely and friendly
We spent a very pleasant night here. The restaurant was very nice, the food was amazing and the staff were attentive and friendly. Our room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable.
Best hotel in town, not many other options.
Very little to do in the town, bit plenty to do in the area. Hotel restaurant is pretty good, not many other options in town.
Reception service was excellent and though the rooms may look a little tired a dated in places they are clean and perfectly adequate. We encountered a problem with the kettle which shorted out the electrics in our room a couple of times but someone came quickly on each occasion to reset it. Otherwise everything was good.
The Croc, as the locals call it, has been standing there in the excessive heat and humidity for a while now, so don't expect everything to be shining new and clean. The rooms are sizable and well furnished. But the bathroom and the "kitchen" area (doorway), although both well stocked, are very small hence difficult to use, also in need of a renovation. They could have easily reduced the size of the living area and gave them both some more space. I don't understand why they had to design them so cramped. There's a plug-in flashlight by the bathroom door for night adventures as there's no public lighting beyond the immediate premises of the building. You may find one or two lights in the room are broken too. Maybe due to its remote location, a thorough fix-up is not easily done. The staff members are efficient and very helpful. But seriously understaffed during wet season. Decent in-house restaurant that provides three meals a day (usually continental only in the morning, no full buffet but with a la carte available as well). All in all, apart from the particular shape of the build, pretty standard.
A small swimming pool in the courtyard, convenient and good for socialising. But you don't have to be restricted to it. Just some 200m away is the town's public swimming pool which only costs $5 per entry and it's a hidden gem! You simply have to check it out. The only place to be in the unbearable arvo heat.
We didn't stay here but Expedia won't let me NOT rate it.
After hearing about the rampant crime in Katherine, we canceled this reservation.
