Nice staff very helpful

The staff is very kind and helpfull. The hotel is beautiful and located in a very nice part of the city. We’ve stayed here multiple times and I surely recommend staying here!!

I like the location. The room is too small.

Location was great, the morning breakfast was more than i expected and the staff was very Professional/Helpfull with all our day travel destinations I have traveled to approximately 75 countries so speak from experience so would recommend this hotel to any seasoned traveler Terry Keys

A lovely stay. The staff were great' welcoming and very helpful. An oasis of calm in this joyful, busy and lively city.

I’ve stayed here twice in the single room (which, happily, is more like an American “full” sized bed vs just a twin). I stayed here just one night each time because I needed to catch the ferry the next day to Capri. The service is helpful, the breakfast has all the basics, and it’s walking distance (12 mins) to the ferry departure point. If you’re a budget traveler and just need a classic, comfortable hotel, this is a great option. Nothing too fancy, very old school, everything is in order. I like the vintage charm. Good google options very close to the hotel and Gambrinus cafe/pastry shop is not to be missed.

This hotel is located in a lively area with shops and restaurants. The staff here is wonderful - very helpful and kind. The delicious breakfast consists of fruit, yogurt, pastries, coffee, and cappuccino. We enjoyed our stay very much.
Convenient location - we walked everywhere

This little B&B, tucked away in the middle of the city, was a very welcome surprise. On our only night in Naples, we walked all around and to the port for dinner & drinks. Take the Underground Tour (Napoli Sotterranea) around the corner on Vico S. Anna di Palazzo for another nice surprise.

This property scores high on all accounts. The rooms were very comfortable and the staff was always helpful.

Review from an American couple: The property is in a dated building and requires the travel of 4-5 stories of stairs. There is a tiny outdated elevator but I would rather take the stairs. The employees were very nice and the room was indeed charming and had a traditional European look to them. The bathroom was nice and the room itself was fine, but the bed was extremely firm and uncomfortable. The AC created a very unpleasant smell when it ran and inflamed my wife and I’s allergies immediately. The location in town feels safe and has multiple shops and restaurants nearby. Overall, the experience was okay.
Verified review powered by
It is rated as a 3 star hotel, but the staff are extremely nice and helpful. They push it up to 4 stars in my view.
Late-night arrival kind of tricky
Verified review powered by
Overall fine, but due to extensive travel delays we arrived very late. With no sign in a dimly-lit courtyard (shared with other businesses) indicating the presence of an elevator we ended up lugging our bags up the very uneven and even more poorly lit stairs to reach reception. Surprising that the night clerk did not come down to assist after buzzing us into the courtyard.
Verified review powered by
Interesting hotel in this location. Staff very friendly and helpful and always someone available. Good choice of places to eat very nearby. Very secure at night, when the huge wooden doors to the courtyard, a shopping area during the day, are closed. Access by ringing doorbell, promptly answered. Breakfast was fine but fairly basic - again very nice staff Not suitable hotel if you have mobility issues - big flight of stone stairs up to reception on the first floor.
worth visiting

Our stay was pretty amazing. Different culture and a lot to visit. At the front desk, receptionist were very nice. Over all our stay was pretty awesome.

Horrible breakfast. Room was super dark. Service is ok. I asked for something but never showed up. Great location. Clean.

Didn’t have a room for us and put us at a cheaper b&b and charged the full amount. Never got to see a room.
Great place to stay
Verified review powered by
We spent 4 nights. The front desk staff we helpful with great recommendations for travel, tours, meals, taxi etc. it's close to lots of tourist sites, shopping an Napoli families. The hotel is in a safe neighborhood. The mini bar is stocked with prose content, beer, etc, at the same low price as the local restaurants. There are lots of funky little restaurants within a 100m. Each room is different, but ours was just right. Showers and bathrooms are great.

Old World experience for good and bad
Verified review powered by
Hotel is nice and clean. The rooms are ample, though the furniture is very antiquated and somewhat difficult to use. It is centrally located, but on a basically pedestrianized street making it impossible to access directly by vehicle. If you have a lot of luggage, as we had, this is difficult. The hotel staff helped us get the luggage out to a taxicab, but we were on our own getting it into the hotel. Also, the large courtyard doors are locked at night, and you need to be buzzed into the courtyard through a small medieval door. The daytime staff was officious and minimally helpful; the nighttime staff is much friendlier and more helpful. If you want a very, very European-style hotel, this hotel is for you. If you want an up-to-date hotel oriented to modern conveniences, go elsewhere.

Excellent location. Half of hotel was a luxury mansion and half a bordello. We had 2 rooms and the mansion rooms were much nicer. Overall good value in excellent historic part of Naples.

The hotel was great! The only downside was finding it! We had a car and it was hard to find parking.

Amazing staff. It was our first time in the area and the wonderful lady checking us in was so incredibly helpful making sure we found the parking garage and helping us with our luggage. 100% we will be coming back :) keep up the great work

Liked: walkable location, clean room and hotel Did not like: terrible plumbing - WC almost did not flush so I had to use a bucket to flush it, was not repaired during all 5 days I stayed, in spite of the promise it would be. At the time of my complain I was told though that there is a limit of what they can do in such a building, but not being able to flush the WC is not acceptable for a three-star hotel. Did not like : Sound isolation - could hear every little noise (such as phone ringing) from the other rooms, not to speak about the noisy plumbing. Did not like: no AC power plug to charge a notebook PC, although there were USB plugs to charge smartphones. I tried to use the plug for one of the lamps, but it stopped working, and was not repaired during all days of my stay, in spite of a promise to the contrary. Did not like: Entrance to building is depressing (the photo seems rather edited end omits the ground floor, which is not fit for a three-star hotel). The same building has some cheap hostels at other floors. However the entrance to those parts of the building belonging to the hotel was nice.

A delightful stay in a hotel that was so calming
Verified review powered by
The stay at the hotel was delightful. The person at the desk , Fernadine, helped me so much. My husband was sick and we couldnt go out and he helped take care of him, by ordering food in for us and a bottle of wine. The best wine I have ever had. I kept the label from the bottle and am going to order more bottles. The breakfast was amazing, with Americano Coffee , pastries, and fruit. I was in such a case of despair and the kindess of Fernadine helped me so much. Thanks to you Fernandine !

Charm at the Charme
Verified review powered by
We stayed for five nights at this centrally located hotel which uses the upper floors of a very grand former private house. It is accessed through a courtyard (which is locked off from the street at night) and by a lift and /or staircases. The room was spacious with en suite shower/bath both of which were cleaned to a high standard daily. The bed was too hard for our taste but this was the only drawback. The hotel is on one of the major shopping streets which is pedestrianised during the day and, once the shops closed, was very quiet. The breakfasts were of good quality with a wide variety of foods to suit national preferences. It was easy walking to the main central area sites and there were a number of good restaurants in the immediate area. The staff were polite and pleasant, speaking heavily accented English (and, presumably, other languages as well). In all, a good boutique hotel.
Verified review powered by
Good location, cannot get your car closer than 500 meters to the hotel. Somewhat run down, hot water broke down one morning. The rooms are adjacent to a pedestrian mall and by 6:30 in the morning the noise is loud with garbage trucks, street cleaners and stores moving inventory. This is an OK hotel but not good.
Verified review powered by
The hotel is in a great location. Very close to Piazza del Plebiscito and taxis. The staff was great and greeted us with sfogliatelle at check in. There are also snacks every afternoon available to the guests. The only complaint would be the noise. We had a room that faced the street and it was very noisy. Other than that the hotel was great.

A very good place to stay in central Naples, Friendly Staff, good breakfast
Verified review powered by
We only stayed here one night and were very satisfied. It’s on a great street in the middle of everything, and the room was quiet and comfortable with a nice shower. We would have stayed longer if we could have. 2 downsides: The WiFi didn’t work well in my room, but I was able to get it in the reception area so it wasn’t a big deal. Also the parking is not free as it was advertised on Expedia. It’s offsite parking in a lot and it’s 20 euros. If you have a rental car it’s probably not the best location anyway.

This hotel is aptly named - it is truly charming and located in a most charming part of Naples! It is well located to see the sights of Naples - there are lots of those - and is situated on a lovely pedestrians only street with nice shops and cafes nearby. Our room was lovely and clean and had everything we needed. The staff were great and could not have been more helpful. A simple inquiry about tours was met with good information about our options and good advice about how to best use our limited time. When I forgot a jacket on the bus, the staff went above and beyond to try to locate it and arrange its return. We will certainly stay at Hotel de Charme again if we’re lucky enough to return to Naples.

great location. Great service. small bedroom but you don't spend much time in as there is so much to do and see in Naples.
Wonderful welcome
Verified review powered by
Lovely, friendly hotel in one of the best locations in Naples. Within walking distance of the ferry port for a day in Capri, the funicular, metro stations and the beautiful Piazza del Plebliscito. We were welcomed in the evening after a tiring flight with a slice of pizza. Superb breakfast the next morning. Our only quibble was the very noisy plumbing from the room next door, which seemed to go into overdrive at 5am!
Verified review powered by
Our room had black mold on the floor area by the bathtub and bathroom door frame. It was impossible to shower without holding the spray nozzle at all times. The water was not contained in the shower by the swinging glass shower door. Water would leak from the shower no matter what we tried to do to mitigate the problem. Most of the staff tried to help with questions about local site seeing, but only one could speak or understand English well enough to help. All other cities that we stayed in had very helpful English speaking hotel staff. The air conditioning was shut off when we left for the day, so upon our return each day it took an hour for the room to be cooled off. We had to use the do not disturb sign and forego room cleaning in order to keep the air conditioning on during the day. On the last day we gave explicit instructions to not turn the air off and the hotel heeded the request. The “pedestrian only” street is frequented by loud, smelly, fast driving motorcycles and small cars.

Nice little hotel, in what was once a lovely home. Intimate, a little idiosyncratic but with a curious charm, near the harbor and Teatro San Carlo. We enjoyed our stay, and are happy to recommend it.

My husband and I enjoyed a fantastic week staying at the Chiaja Hotel. A place of great character in a central position, just right for exploring the city of Naples. The hotel staff were very helpful at all times. Their professional manner was always appreciated, with consideration for our needs. Their cheery advice and excellent language skills - speaking English - was very helpful too.Breakfasts were always delicious. Thanks to all concerned.

Good location. Average hotel.
Verified review powered by
The hotel is well located on a safe pedestrian street. Many restaurants, cafes and shops just outside the door. About a 10 minute walk to the Metro on Toledo. Expect some amount of noise if your room faces the street. Heads Up: It is very difficult to find, not well marked in a courtyard off the street. We finally went into a store to ask where the entrance was. There was a nice tray of complimentary pastries or appetizers in the lobby in the evenings which I thought was a nice touch. Also, one of us needed to stay much later in the afternoon on our departure day and the hotel was kind enough to let him stay in his room well after check out time. This is very unusual and was very much appreciated. We found the beds to be exceedingly uncomfortable. The drain in the sink did not stay open to drain the water. There was leftover food in our mini fridge that was moldy and smelly. They offer a complimentary breakfast which was average. Our room was quite close to the lobby and so we heard quite a bit of noise as people came and went. Water pressure in the shower was quite strong but when turned up resulted in soaking the bathroom floor. We were there 3 nights and had 2 rooms in March.

Well-placed in centre of town in attractive pedestrian area Some our groups make the buffet breakfast a bit chaotic as they all need to leave at the same time. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Nice hotel in centre of Naples
Verified review powered by
Lovely hotel unless you have a car. Don't go to Naples with a car. They have a deal with a local garage to park your car which is reasonably priced. €18 per day. It's the streets they are so narrow. Took an hour to find the garage and the hotel google map was useless. Not the hotels fault I have to say. The hotel was very good and helped at the end by fetching my car for me to a square nearby that was reasonably easy to get out of.
In the heart of old Naples with helpful staff

Close to many things and the staff was really helpful.
Dilapidated!!!!!.
Verified review powered by
After 8:00pm you are required to enter this hotel through a small wooden porthole in a large closed carriage door. The building and hotel (inside and out) are significantly dilapidated. The room was at the end of a long narrow hall with no emergency exit and would be considered unfit for human habitation for fire safety reasons in the USA. There was no fire escape from the room or hallway, our balcony was at least 25 feet above the street. The elevator can barely fit 3 people in it, was very slow and was often occupied when we desired to use it. The furniture appeared to be very old, was chipped and very worn. In my opinion it compares to a one star or no star in the USA. Excellent staff.
Lovely location, very pleasant staff
Verified review powered by
I stayed here three nights. It's a lovely old building with hotel rooms here and there; mine was out the reception door and up the stairs. Very good breakfast available and afternoon treats in the dining area. It's hard to find after hours unless you have been forewarned. The street is pedestrianised so you need to be able to handle your own bags. The location would be hard to better. It was easy walking everywhere.
A Hotel with Character and Wonderful Staff
Verified review powered by
This is not a hotel for people who want a sterile huge International chain. It is like Naples itself, quirky and full of character. It is located on the first floor of an old building on one of the main shopping streets, Via Chiaia. Well located, you can walk to the old town, the Duomo and Archaeological Museum and very close to the Spagnoli district where there are a host of little Pizzarias and Trattoria. The rooms are high ceiling-ed and comfortable. If, like us, you like to have a bath after a days walking around, you will need to book one of their superior rooms as the standard room only has a shower. But what makes this hotel extraordinary is the staff. They really go that extra mile to make your stay as enjoyable as possible, with advice on the best way to get anywhere and when there is a problem, to make sure that it is resolved to your complete satisfaction. I have traveled a lot, but have never seen personal service like this.
Wonderful staff, noisy room
Verified review powered by
This hotel is perched directly above a noisy, bustling, never-sleeping pedestrian street, and unless you're willing to keep your windows closed all the time (which leaves the room stuffy when you're between seasons, as we were--no option for AC and too warm for heat), it's very hard to have a conversation, let alone sleep. We are longtime residents of New York City, and even we were astonished by how noisy it was. That said, the hotel staff could not have been more accommodating, friendly, helpful, and pleasant.

Hotel de Charme ? (Charmless)
Verified review powered by
Not so charming ! Bit tired inside . Our rooms were next door to each other ,when toilets were flushed the noise was horrendous . We were supposed to have someone pick our car up from the garage and have it at the hotel so we could leave for the airport ,however my husband had to rush through the busy streets not quite sure where he was going find the garage himself as nobody turned up to get the car . Very disorganised and very stressful for us . This service is offered by the hotel however why offer if they cannot come up with the goods .
Value and Safety

We spent one night in Napoli and flew out early the next day. We wanted something in a safe neighborhood and didn't really need anything fancy. The neighborhood is awesome. Great location, safe, lots of shopping and restaurants. Right next door to famous Pizzeria Brandi - (highly recommended). A safe 5 min walk from the sea side and other sights. Hotel itself is nothing special. The rooms are old and tired. We had an early flight so I can't comment on the breakfast. Staff was decent. Very helpful. We were on the far end of hotel and wifi was really strong.
Pleasant Hotel in good location for short stay
Verified review powered by
Firstly the Hotel is in a pedestrianised road, so the taxi will drop you a short walking distance from the Hotel but which can feel a lot if you have a lot of luggage to cart along! Then I was not warned that the Hotel is on the first floor of a very old building hidden behind a formidable door - like you are entering a medieval castle! The steps leading to the lift are terrible, and no signs to guide you to the Reception! However, once you are in, the staff are friendly and helpful. Our triple room was adequate. But most important, the Hotel is strategically located for trains and the ferry to Sorrento! Also, there are many restaurants in the vicinity. And I would like to mention a special one - Ali's Donner Kebab, which is just a short walk on the right and serves delicious Donner Kebabs and other delicacies at very reasonable prices. Now that I know where the Hotel is situated I would definitely return if I am ever back in Naples!

Great place to stay in Naples. Stayed in a superior room with a street view. I loved the room, it was large room with a big comfortable bed and a balcony overlooking the street. Nice size bathroom with excellent water pressure. The mini bar was reasonably priced and found it to be very convenient.

This was one of 5 hotels we stayed at during our 2 week trip - by far the most disappointing. It was more like a bedroom than a hotel room - very small with paper thin walls . . . you could hear every time a neighbor flushed the toilet. Wouldn't stay here again or recommend it.
Great staff, decent location, dodgy plumbing
Verified review powered by
A pretty good location in one of the cleanest parts of this far from clean city. An average hotel in terms of features and comfort. Good value for the location. The guy at the front desk (afraid I didn't catch his name) was extremely polite, friendly and helpful. He checked us in and showed us to our room and offered lots of advice - giving us a city map and the best sights to check out in the limited time we had available in the city. We decided to try to use the jacuzzi function of the bath, but this was a nightmare - when turning it on, water poured out from under the bath panel. I think this must have been leaking for a long time as the bathroom had a very damp smell and black mould around the sealant. Breakfast was pastries, coffee and fruit & yogurt. Another plumbing problem surfaced just as we were heading our for the morning - upon flushing the toilet, a crazy loud noise started from the cistern. Upon contacting the front desk, they sent a maintenance guy to rectify this immediately. We just stayed one night. On the morning of the check-out, the same kind front desk guy arranged a cab to the central station for us with an agreed up-front price. Better than trying to get your own taxi as I've heard bad stories about Neapolitan cabbies.
Good value and location

Room was comfortable though not particularly large or fancy. Our bed was two single beds pushed together but that was to be expected. We were glad to be farther from the lobby/breakfast area. I thought I'd read there were shower/tub combos but we had a rather small box shower. The wifi worked fine for us, though we could've used a heartier air conditioner (it worked but didn't keep it as cool as we like to have it at home). The breakfast was coffee, pastries, juice, yogurt, cereal and fruit - did the trick for us). The location and price were very good. The front desk staff were very nice, helpful and multilingual. A solid place to stay.

Clean Nice Part of Naples
Verified review powered by
The hotel was reasonably priced, and was in a very nice safe part of Naples. Plenty of shops and restaurants, the water, and a castle were within walking distance. The staff was very nice and helpful, giving us a map of the area and recommendations for restaurants and attractions, and carrying our heavy suitcases for us. The room was a bit outdated, but clean and comfortable, with the exception of the air conditioning. Apparently you have to tell the front desk you want to use the air conditioning, even though there is a remote in the room. We set the temperature and later woke up covered in sweat because it was blowing out hot air instead of cold! The front door is very interesting. It is large and there is a small hatch that opens up after you ring the bell and you have to climb through with your luggage. The hotel is staffed 24 hours and it only took a few minutes for them to get us a taxi to the airport.
Great location, lovely stff

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Chiaja. The room was on the small side, but this is common with Naples, given the design of the buildings in th city. It's also on the first and second floor of the building, but there is a lift, you just have to find it. The staff were all lovely, and very helpful to us in arranging taxis and dinner recommendations. The location is fantastic for seeing the sites and also being able to travel easily to Pompeii and Vesuvius, although note for your arrival that it is on a pedestrianised street so you will need to walk a short way with your baggage. Breakfast was typical Italian, with good coffee and juices.

Great location, right on one of the main shopping streets. Not the easiest place to find after dark. Our room (107) on the main floor should be avoided. It was next to the kitchen and although being quiet, had a very poor outlook. Ask for something higher up. Claudia and Annalisa at the front desk speak very good English.

We were nervous about a stay in Naples after reading several negative posts. After arriving at Napoli Centrale, we took a taxi (highly recommend) with "Lino" he was knowledegable and spoke good English, he quoted us a reasonable fare and got us to the Via Chiaia quickly. We arrived on a Saturday and the Via was packed with people. We walked about 50 yards to the door to the square, a helpful resident led us to the Hotel reception. We received polite service and a beautiful double bed room. The cab ride was 20 euro and took about 15 min. You do need to be smart in Naples especially around the train station.

This hotel is very conveniently located but hard to find. It has some historical significance as it used to be an old brother and the hotel service was phenomenal but don't expect the rooms to be very nice.

Hotel well located. Staff pleasant, as was breakfast service. Family room booked was completely inadequate - four beds squashed into a small corner, twin room with badly maintained furniture and poor ventilation. I'm sure some of the standard double rooms were much better furnished and quite comfortable, however the family room appeared to be the last resort option for guests. Would not recommend a family room to any potential guest. Note access is not ideal if driving into Napoli / car parking is a distance away from hotel.
Traditional hotel in the heart of Naples

The hotel rooms are opulent and decorated in 19th century Neapolitan style - but also have air conditioning and en suite bathrooms. The beds are very comfortable. The breakfasts are generous; there are also plates of (free) Neapolitan savouries or pastries in reception in the evenings. Many of the staff speak good English, and were unfailingly helpful throughout our week-long stay. The internal (courtyard) rooms are quieter than the rooms fronting onto the street, but there are shutters and noise isn't really a problem. Only one thing annoyed us - the lighting in our room was slightly too dim to read comfortably by at night.
Good Value Close to Centro Storico

The staff are friendly: when I asked to switch from a room with a shower to one with a tub, it happened pretty quick. The included breakfast was typical, with good cappuccinos.
Island in the city

The hotel is centrally located on a pedestrian only street with good shopping, great restaurants, and close to many prime sites. Our room was spacious and my wife particularly loved the bathtub. An excellent continental breakfast was served with yummy cappuccinos, pastries, and yogurt. The staff was particularly helpful.
What a fabulous boutique hotel

Wonderful, is the word to describe this little hidden gem. I believe it is family owned as it came across very cozy, very friendly and everyone at the hotel was absolutely fantastic - from Salvatore the porter who efficiently drove our rented car to park in the nearest car park on day 1 and carry all our bags on our last day, to all the cleaners, receptioninsts and the breakfast waiters. It is a lovely old building with high ceiling and everything was very clean, Location is also brilliant for both shopping and great little restaurants. Napolitans are warm, friendly people in general and the staff in this hotel really represented them.
