I didn't consider Montparnasse area before, but this time found nothing in my budget in Quartier Latin/Saint-Germain. So I found surprisingly nice Hotel Sophie Germain in good surrounding at price 2. 5 times better. May be it is more real life district, than historical centre or luxury shopping street, but it is nice. Note Monoprix store near metro, it offers very good price/selection of french cheeses, goose liver, iberico hamon. Also as I remember Androuet cheese shop is not far. And you can reach Luxembourg garden, Saint Germain, rue de Mouffetard and other "left bank" places in 20-30min of walking through beautiful streets of historical center. Actually I came back from Louvre to Hotel Sophie Germain in 1 hour and find it very pleasant in sunny day. And yes, room equipped by minibar (with enough space for 4kg of cheese) and tea kettle, and Hotel Sophie Germain keep your luggage after check in for free. Will gladly return again
