Taj Bentota Resort & Spa, Sri Lanka

Vivanta by Taj, Bentota is similar as heaven I have ever imagined. In each and every department they exceed your expectations. May it be room, decor, ambience, location, food, cleanliness, recreation, drinks, feel, staff, housekeeping, etc etc etc. The reception area when you entered till you reach the room everything is delight and soothing to the eye. The location is such that I think it is one the best beach resort in the world. The housekeeping and room are spacious and well maintained. The property is in acres but it’s totally clean and welcoming. The swimming pool on the fourth floor with the sea view gives and amazing infinity experience. The sitting areas are amazing. Drinks, cocktails, beers, you get a wide range of options. The breakfast is till date the best I have ever had let be in options as well as taste. The staff is always welcoming and ready to go an extra mile for you. The food is so amazing that you won’t consider going out of the property even for food. And the prices are even cheaper if you are not a Sri lankan. Thus, there are no words to express what it was in the Vivanta. So just one word to summon it all, “HEAVEN”.
The room were totally amazing and were well maintained. We had a garden view room which was well ventilated and you feel like you are between the garden. The Taj Bentota Resort & Spa, Sri Lanka has many rooms but they are built in a way that you feel privacy in each room. The lounge, the reception area, the passage before the room are heavenly.

The Taj brand truly lives up tp its name in this beach town. First of all, the property's location is commendable. Being situated right by the sea with a private beach of sorts gives you luxury, convenience, and privacy in appropriate portions. Secondly, the room allotted to us was spacious, well-designed and overlooked the pool and the sea. This made every morning worthy of waking up to. Thirdly, the staff is courteous and helpful as one would expect of a hospitality brand like Taj. The only downside was the buffet breakfast which had an unchanged menu and mediocre variety. Bonus: The resort is located close to Bentota railway station. That makes commute to other locations such as Colombo, Galle and Hikkaduwa affordable. No need to get ripped off by cabbies and tuk-tuk drivers. There might be competition, but Taj Bentota stands head and shoulders above the rest.

If you want to experience hospitality, luxury and pristine beauty, this is the place for you. We were travelling with an infant and they did everything they could to make it a memorable and comfortable stay for us and our kid. Starting with a great ocean facing room, conveniently located near the pool, restaurant and reception. The Indian chef made khichdi for our kid just in the way we requested. Every member of the staff greeted our kid and made him feel comfortable away from home on his first trip and I can go on and on! The beach was a minute walk away from our room and it was absolutely breathtaking. The food was brilliant. The activity center and health centre great, Pool beautifully located overlooking the ocean. In one sentence, do not miss Taj Bentota for anything!

Overall experience was good. Positives first - the room decor is really cute, cleanliness is given due focus (I felt in general people give much focus to cleanliness there, which is really great). Other services are also good - (i) Local travel - you can avail local travel services from Taj Bentota Resort & Spa, Sri Lanka or from outside Taj Bentota Resort & Spa, Sri Lanka too (ii) Food - Breakfast buffet was pretty extensive covering wide variety of food, lot of vegetarian options too. Just outside the Taj Bentota Resort & Spa, Sri Lanka, there are several cute cafés with good food. Negatives - I just felt the bathroom was a bit small for such an expensive room booking nonetheless it was clean.

We celebrated our daughter's 1st birthday here and truly was a wonderful and memorable experience. Executive chef Neeraj was a blessing in disguise for us as travelling with a one year old and my parents who are 75+ can be a very delicate travel, he ensured that everything was managed and looked into for us- starting from baking a special cake for her and catering to our crazy specifications to ensuring her daily meals are cooked as per the requirements and timely sent without reminders. The resort is also really amazing with breathtaking views and good facilities. Thank you for ensuring that our trip stays memorable forever.

Barring the small bathroom and small bathtub, there is nothing that I would want to change in this place. The Resort is amazing. The Beach is shallow and is very good for kids and even for people who don't know swimming. Staff is courteous and keep notes of what you say. We got a morning surprise with a cake for my wife's birthday. Coming to food. Food is tasty and there are tons of options for vegetarians and vegans. Resort also does various paid and free activities such as dance shows and yoga classes. In a single line, it is a total value for money Resort.

Stayed with a friend for 3 nights. Loved the location and the view from the room with sea view, beach access, breakfast buffet. The hospitality was amazing. The resort sent a complimentary mini cake as a surprise for the friend's birthday. Thank you for a wonderful stay. One suggestion, may be they could have more Sri Lankan options in vegetarian apart from mixed vegetable Curry and dhal curry. And more Sri Lankan desserts. Also would have liked to have had bathrobes and slippers already in the room instead of requesting it from guest services.

I stayed in Taj Bentota for 3 nights and 4 days. The experience was wonderful, spacious and clean rooms. hospitality was wonderful. i had srilankan cuisine, especially the veg dishes were wonderful. The best of this Taj Bentota Resort & Spa, Sri Lanka is the staff behaviour and location of the Taj Bentota Resort & Spa, Sri Lanka. The beach side is excellent with a small rocky coves which will enable you to walk between waves. all in all a great relaxing holiday, not to forget the free sauna and Jacuzzi facility!

The beach location is just perfect. The hospitality was great, we got upgraded to beach view room. Thanks to the executive at check-in. View from the room was superb which just made our holiday better. The restaurant serves delicious food including Indian cuisine and local Sri Lanka delicacies. Soaking in the pool which is located strategically facing the beach was just perfect! Spa offering several therapies with ayurvedic doctor consultation was very good. Overall we had a fantastic holiday!

I stayed with my family for 2 nights and it was a bliss. We didn’t have to step out of the Taj Bentota Resort & Spa, Sri Lanka during the stay. It’s one of the best-managed Taj properties I have visited so far. Hats off to the Taj Bentota Resort & Spa, Sri Lanka staff for their prompt service with a smile on their face all the time. Also hats off the chef for the variety and the quality of food served for each of the meals. Overall fantastic experience. Feel like going again.

I just loved the overall experience of our family vacation here. It was really thoughtful of double upgrading us to a family room to make space for my toddler to run around. The food was delicious and had a lot of variety. It was made all the more special when one of the Taj Bentota Resort & Spa, Sri Lanka staff clicked a photo of me with my daughter and kindly got that printed and shared with us the following day, it was such a lovely gesture. Extraordinary people.

The Taj lives up to its brand name. First of all thanks for upgrading my booking to sea view room and the room is also clean and spacious. The location is great as they have private beach access. We had an amazing morning experience at the beach. As in Srilanka vegetarian people like me have less food options but at Taj, food was excellent and the chef also cooks as per your wish, and food is also very good. The staff is courteous and helpful.

We stayed in Taj Bentota for 3 days. It was one of the most amazing stay in Sri Lanka. The chef took special care about our food requirements (veg). I would like to specially mention chef Dalip for his customer centric approach and making us feel at home.

Everything was simply amazing. Huge property, awesome food, excellent staff.

Wonderful property, next to the beach, heated pool and very courteous staff. Rooms are spacious. Lot of eating options next to the resort and walking distance to the station

Our stay at Taj was amazing. We had our lunch and dinner here as well and we were amazed by the food! Their chef is really good. We had Indian food. Apart from this we also called for 2-3 types of snacks and it was amazing. We went to the spa too and were very impressed by it. I will totally recommend a stay here!

Staff: absolutely amazing. Chef piyush and his team went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and ensure that we have amazing food and service. The entire f&b as well as the kitchen team were amazing. They even ensured my 15 year old daughter got an impromptu sri lankan cooking class.

Went before christmas, excellent selection of indian and vegetarian in breakfast buffet including dosas, a loo puri subji, etc. All hygiene and safety standards taken care of, lovely pool overlooking the sea, got upgraded to deluxe room on 6 th floor with the best vew

Clean, serene and luxurious stay right at the Beach. Staff was friendly. Food was good. The usual Taj standards are maintained. Every room overlook the Beach. Slightly on the expensive Side though.

Its an old property of taj. Went went there with the brand name taj as our expectations were high. There was no problem as such but its was not that luxury upto the standards of taj group. Bathroom felt like bathtub was unnecessary installed making the space tight. Spa was not good, it was wastage indian food was amazing. Better alternates are available rather cheaper like centara.

It was a pleasant stay at for 2 days in this wonderful property. While the food, location etc was excellent, it didn't really match up to my experience in Taj properties in India.
