DOM Himalaya Hotel

Booked DOM Himalaya Hotel on 01 march and reached there on 19th as planned to be told that my booking cannot be accommodated because of difference in normal rate of rooms offered by DOM Himalaya Hotel and offer at which I had booked. The issue took almost two hours to be sorted out by MakeMyTrip after 36 hours of journey which was really pathetic. The DOM Himalaya Hotel could have taken endeavors to either cancel or contact the middle men company or company and inform them of their decision. They should not have waited for customers to arrive and then inform that rooms can be booked after additional payment. During the above period DOM Himalaya Hotel manager was courteous and there was no I'll feelings. Company should have also confirmed the booking with DOM Himalaya Hotel before confirming the customer that booking has been accepted. Everyone was sleeping for 18 days. Room offered was decent and large with hit kettle, wardrobe, satellite TV connection and packaged drinking water. Washroom was good, clean although could have done with some more lightening. Breakfast good variety and quality although refilling after 9 am was slow. The DOM Himalaya Hotel has a good team of chef who can prepare variety of food. The DOM Himalaya Hotel even offers free coffee 24 hours from machine installed in lobby. Location- centrally located in Thamel and easily accessible. Tour arrangements was the part which actually disappointed me for two reasons it was way costly than other options available locally. I being outsider was not familiar with location of sights which was recommended by tour operator. He planned a tour of 3 places on Holi, mainly Sarang, Bhaktpur and Nagarkot. I was scared of managing 3 places because of Rouge Kathmandu traffic, buy being Holi he could have added Changu Narayan as well which was just 6 kms from Bhaktpur. I had to waste about 3 hours next day to visit Changu. Plus same three destination available by local travel agents for more price and online by Nepalvehiclerental for about less price where in I was charged more than that. Mr Raj insisted that they provided compact SUV wherein online one was providing a sedan. So what does customer needs, to think about his interests as well and not fleece. Above done Mr Raj was very friendly in his approach and accepted my feedback graciously and even provided me discount during my checkout for Airport drop. Just general tip for friends to hire a bike and go Around if you have GPS and can drive and are ready to face Kathmandu pollution else stick with travel agencies. I would certainly recommend this DOM Himalaya Hotel and would thanks to Mr. Deepak for his professional approach while dealing with me and company as well.

Overall I have noticed 2 demerits of this DOM Himalaya Hotel in night kitchen are getting closed at 9.30 pm. If you reach late and you are hungry, you have to go outside for food. No arrange available in the DOM Himalaya Hotel. I have found a service guy in who is having less commitment compare to other staff in the DOM Himalaya Hotel. My suggestion is guest should avail the outside food for lunch and dinner. There are several good restaurants are available in surroundings.
As such nothing have been noticed during my. Property is very good and well maintained. Outskirt of thamel main area but good for stay.

Good experience, Hotel was neat and clean. Hospitality was too good. Restaurant servers very good tasty food. Location was also OK and the main market thamel was also near by.
Very good DOM Himalaya Hotel, location was good. As we were here for one day, so didn't take the breakfast. But we did dinner in the restaurant at ground floor that was too good. Overall a good experience.

Firstly, I would appreciate the positive response from the DOM Himalaya Hotel executive when I called up and requested for an Airport pickup and that too at a very short notice. Second, the staff was quite courteous and were always ready to provide all possible help, whether it be regarding information on places to visit, getting conveyance, etc.

It is a very nice, comfortable and secure place to stay both for official and personal trips. Particularly, all the staff members are very good, helpful and well behaved.

Hotel is neat and spacious. Located centrally in the prominent tourist area.
