Great view, bad hotel.

The view is honestly incredible, but everything Else was awful. Hidden charges, unhelpful staff.

Property staff and location was perfect. Right on the beach and the staff took care of any questions or problems immediately.

Staff were courteous and very helpful. Guest should be warned that most rooms need to be reached through many stairs - equivalent to 12-15 flights of stairs. In hot weather, that is very unpleasant. The road to town is even higher up - perhaps the equivalent of 30 flights of stairs. There is access via motorboat to an adjacent resort, from which taxis can be taken - but that is more expensive.
Isolated and no WiFi

The manager was kind and willing to help, but the hotel is really in an inconvenient location, far from the center which is a bit complicate to reach ( boat+ taxi or climb up to the road 10 m and then taxi / 150000 idr one way). The beach isn't nice, even if on this island are all like that, even the beach of the Ayana. They could keep it cleaner though. In the morning there is low tide so even to take a small boat you have to walk for a while in the muddy puddles left by the low tide. There are no amenities nearby such as alternative restaurants or travel agencies to organize tours, so you have to organize them with the hotel with no room for price negotiation. The restaurant isn't great. Food is average. The worst thing is that you only have Wi-Fi at the reception, not in the rooms, for only 3 hs a day from 6 to 9 pm. The architecture of the huts and of the hotel is original and traditional, but the various huts are built up the hill, which means lots of steps to reach the top ones. Initially we were given the 2 top rooms (superior) which have no balcony or patio and the very top one has no proper see view, only from one angle. We booked 2 rooms with balcony, so we asked to change the rooms. They offered 2 connecting family rooms for a surcharge of 200000 idr per room per night ( these are considered deluxe rooms not superior). Despite we complained that we were supposed to get 2 rooms with balconies and see view, we took the family rooms as more suitable for our needs.

Fantastic location, with a wonderful, panoramic view of the bay. Truly awesome. Great snorkeling straight off the beach. very pleasant, helpful and friendly staff. The young man greeting people should be working at a large New York hotel making big money... he's just so good !! Had a small problem with the plumbing - fixed it in no time. Only one negative - if it was my hotel, I'd petition the local council to seal the road leading to the place by land. The property can be reached by boat - OK, but if you happen to be returning by night and it has been raining - it can be a big problem getting there especially as there is no lights along the road. Hey - the Indo elections are just around the corner !!

Loved this hotel and would recommend it. The staff were wonderful and the food was cheap and the menu had lots of choices. I read a lot of negative comments from other guests, but i can't fault my experience.
Secluded and expensive place, the view- amazing

The hotel-provided access to the town is extremely expensive, for a two day hotel-town transportation provided by the hotel you could have an extra night there. To get to a road you either have to get a water taxi or to climb up lots of steps and a steep path - keep that in mind if you travel with children or have any kind of disability. I would rather call it „bungalows for rent with a reception and restaurant downstairs” than a hotel. The property is maintained well. The staff - extremely helpful. The view - amazing. If it wasn’t for the incredibly high price for the town and airport shuttle, i would probably give ot the highest note.
Spectucular view over the bay!

The amazing view! The cottage very confortable, the young employees so professional. Pascal and Ronald were very helpful and always in a good mood. The only thing difficults : the access. Not for disabled at all. 100 hundreds steps to acceed our room! And far from the City Labuan Bajo.
Great GREAT stay

Great location and a treehouse-feel. It was the best hotel in a pristine environment that Inhad so far. Stay in the delux rooms, not the superior....
Overpriced and remote location

If you want to just stay at the hotel and not go on any day trips, then this is the hotel for you. However, would still NOT recommend this hotel. Most tour companies won't pick you up here and taxis won't take you as there is no paved road to get to the hotel...not sure if they're in the process of paving it or not, looked like that might be the case. I rented a motorbike/scooter and it was treacherous due to the rocky conditions of the dirt roads (see pictures). It is also a ten minute hike up to the dirt road from the hotel. Takes about 20-30 minutes from hotel on scooter. Hotel offers a "free shuttle boat" but only to drop you at the resort next door so you can take a 100,000 IDR taxi to the city and only until 17:00. Please note, hotel staff told me the taxi was 100,000 IDR however, I was charged by the hotel's driver, Alex, 150,000 IDR. For my return shuttle to the airport, I specifically requested, in writing, not to be taken by Alex, but they sent him to take me anyway. The guy has two cellphones that he is constantly answering and calling people, while driving. I did not feel safe, not to mention, he had overcharged me before. The hotel grounds are nice but. Not worth $64 USD/night AT ALL! Hotel staff are nice, however communication is limited and this causes misunderstandings. It was very difficult to deal with the manager as a result. I tried to communicate my misgivings and even sent emails instead, in hopes we could communicate in writing w/google translate

We had such a wonderful experience here! The staff is amazing and go out of there way to help. I forgot my reading glasses and they brought them to me by boat to the next place we were staying! That is such amazing customer service! The food was great! It’s remote spot and great for snorkeling ! Take a boat to get there! It’s a hard spot to walk down from the road! I would totally stay there again
Not such a good choice

Located far away from the city center and the only two ways of getting there is by taxi or boat which are expensive and not well organized. There is no paved road to get to the hotel. Since the hotel is located in a hill you have to climb up and down a lot to get to the restaurant and back to your room. Or the top of the hill area where there is the very rural road to take the taxi. No internet connection and the power comes and goes even for entire nights. The humidity and heat are unbearable.
Nice place to relax

We stayed at harmony bungalow which is, i think, the biggest room it has with 2 bedrooms, kitchen, and stunning view.. The room is very cozy and relaxing.. we got amazing sunset from our balcony.. The staff is also very friendly and helpful.. information was well delivered..
Why did I move hotels?
Verified review powered by
OK. I got there. I saw the cats at dinner. I wanted to move so after 3 nights we moved. DUMB MOVE. This place has a vibe like no other. Once you get over the basic BS and the fact that all of Indonesia is expanding and building and so is this place, it turned out to be great. I wouldn't maybe eat too many meals here considering what's available in town, but for general chill out and for swimming right out in front, this is great. Each room is different, room 5 seemed the best to me. We had 3 total rooms. Let the staff organize a snorkeling trip for you- it will be a fraction of the cost of what it costs in those silly tours in town and you will go to pristine spots. They even make a take-away lunch for you. I loved this place. The sunsets are so peaceful. It's just not for the Ritz Carlton crowd. It's for a seasoned traveler who gets it. The one challenge is that there is NO WIFI. They just don't have any. We had to sneak around the beach to PLATARAN or whoever it's called to get Wifi. So if you don't have an Indonesian data card with you you may feel trapped because it's hard to make plans without a connection. Keep that in mind.

Our stay at the hotel was okay... Amazing views and nice food. We booked a Deluxe double Room but I'm not sure we were given a deluxe double room. The staff were friendly but had limited English. Some of the staff were too friendly.. taking photos of my friend and I (without our consent) when we were on the boat to Labuan Bajo, making us feel very uncomfortable... It was a nice place but not worth the money we paid.
Basic and remote location
Verified review powered by
This is a very basic property in a remote location. My boyfriend had mild food poisoning from the breakfast, the rooms are VERY basic (although with AC) and not the cleanest. We were asked to leave the room key when we went out for the evening so they could fix our toilet that wasn't flushing, upon our return a pair of RayBan sunglasses had vanished! None of the hotel staff said they had seen them.
Trip to labuan bajo

Excellent place. Restaurant staff were a bit lost sometime.
Beautiful location . Bathroom window needs a cover
Verified review powered by
Pros - beautiful location ( yes there are many stairs) - tree house type rooms - nice grounds - good common area / resturant - helpful staff Cons - no covering on bathroom window . If you forget to cover it , as happened to my travel partner someone will stand outside your window and watch you shower / get ready . Violating and creepy . - ask multiple staff members for the prices of things ( not listed ) as they change depending whom you as - we did not pay for a boat transfer at anytime . They tried but we pointed out others did not pay. They do try to consolidate boat trip Notes - we book tour in lauban bajo through Flores adventure they were good & price reasonable . Go to town & walk from shop to shop - the ferry drops you by the night / fish market so 20 min walk or 20k taxi ride to center - the food is ok , the vegetable patties are actually really good - the snorkel gear leaks - badly - this place is on a cliff side there are many stairs , no accessibility measures . So beware when booking . I quite like that kind of setting so not an issue . - email them before you arrive , organizing arrival was very easy - we got water everyday & brought our own - only one electricity plug in a room - ego lodge so try to conserve - no hot water ( which is to be expected in Flores )
Best place to stay in Labuan Bajo!
