Aranya Nivas ( KTDC)

Rating: ★★★☆☆ (3 out of 5 stars) During my recent stay at Hotel Aranya nivas, I had initially booked a premium jungle view room to fully immerse myself in the natural beauty of the surroundings. However, upon check-in, I was surprised and slightly disappointed to be allocated a ground floor room facing the swimming pool instead. While the room itself was spacious and well-maintained, I found that the pool-facing view compromised my privacy. Being on the ground floor meant that passersby and other guests using the pool could easily see into my room, which made me feel uncomfortable at times. I had hoped for a more secluded experience with the jungle view rooms. .However, the lack of privacy due to the pool-facing view overshadowed the positive aspects of Aranya Nivas ( KTDC).I found myself constantly having to keep the curtains closed to maintain some level of privacy, which limited the natural light in the room. The Aranya Nivas ( KTDC) staff were friendly but they never attempted to address my privacy concerns by offering alternative solutions, such as moving me to an upper floor room with a jungle view as they have allotted the room i booked to other guest Overall, my experience was mixed. While the unexpected pool-facing room had its drawbacks in terms of privacy, the Aranya Nivas ( KTDC)'s well-maintained swimming pool and attentive staff contributed to a pleasant stay. I would recommend future guests to clearly communicate their preferences to ensure a more tailored experience.

The resort is located inside the Periyar tiger reserve and 2 mins walk to Thekkady boating point. Only vehicles of persons who got confirmed booking in KTDC resorts. (Aranya Nivas,lake palace and Periyar) are allowed inside and also need to take entry ticket for both vehicle and visitor. (you can also get a KTDC operated bus to reach there). The staff were courteous and helped to book boating ticket with a good view (No need to stand in the long queue to book tickets). You have to reach there before 5 pm as entry restricted after that. The activities inside the resort is very minimal so spending time from 5 pm to 9 pm is very difficult hope the resort add some more indoor activities. The food inside resort is very costly so would recommend visitor to buy food outside however the morning breakfast spread is good. If you really want to experience forest stay think that lake palace would have better choice have to try next time.

Aranya is a truly amazing experience, an escape from the city life to the real nature wilderness. Property is clean and they are maintain with good hygiene, everyday room are cleaned, towels are changing, pool is getting cleaned, since it's inside the wild life sanctuary you don't have any options for outside food, food from aranya navas is below average, not up to the mark. Breakfast is ok, but the dinner will disappoint you surely, you can't say bad words due to the pleasant behavior of the staff. Price is four star food is pathetic, you won't get stomach issues that's all. Security will inform you if they sight any animals near to the property. Boating tickets are sure if you have a stay in this property.

The Aranya Nivas ( KTDC) is located inside the periyar tiger reserve, which is around 3 kms from kumily. It is located right at the place where the boating services start. The Aranya Nivas ( KTDC) staff was very professional and friendly, and they took care of booking the boating tickets(which is a pain otherwise. I really liked the food, contrary to what i had read in the reviews before going there. It is a bit expensive though, if the food doesn't suit your taste, you will have to travel to the city to find other restaurants, and entering the tiger reserve is prohibited after 5pm. Overall, i had a really good time at aranya nivas.

The room was neat and tidy and food was really good but i don't know why there were negative comments on the food. The Aranya Nivas ( KTDC) is located inside the periyar tiger reserve and the drive to the Aranya Nivas ( KTDC) from the check gate was wonderful. We were lucky to see porcupines, malabar squirrel, nilgiri langur, monkeys, sambar deers and many birds. Boating and trekking was closed when we visited but it is only 100 meters from the Aranya Nivas ( KTDC). There are cycles available for the guest which we enjoyed. There were also badminton, table tannis and carrom facilities. Don't miss this place when you visit thekkady

Rooms are well maintained, clean, sanitized. Staffs are awesome, specially sachin. Have a conversation with sachin, you will feel very friendly. Evening you will see animals nearby. Trek around you will see a lot of animals. Cons: water bottles are 50inr. No purifier to fill. This is the biggest fraud ktdc has done. Food quality is good but overpriced. One day we went to kumily town for lunch, food quality is same, choices are more, not overpriced. If we ignore the water bottle price & food price. It's all good. They write that it's a plastic free zone. But they generate a lot of plastic with the water bottles they sale.

If spectacular location is what interests you, Aranya Nivas is the perfect place for you. This resort is located inside the sanctuary right at the Periyar Lake with fabulous views in all directions. The rooms are really large and neat. The service was good too. The boat safari starts practically at their doorstep. The only thing that bothered me a bit was the lack of ac. But as I visited in dec the weather was not bad at all. All in all even though some of the other resorts may have better rooms or facilities, I would recommend this to anyone who is keen nature and wilderness.

Great place to stay within periyar tiger reserve forest. Enjoy the wilderness and beauty of forest. Rooms are clean and well maintained. Lot of recreational activities- swimming, badminton, table tennis, billiards, library. Maintained very well and washroom were clean. Food was good. Deer, porcupine, monkeys roam around the Aranya Nivas ( KTDC) compound and you can feed them. Bike/cycles are available to enjoy the forest. They provide boating tickets to avoid long queues and we got direct entry for boating. Overall excellent experience.

This place is deep inside the forest. The forest gates close around 5 pm and the resort is 4-5 kms inside the thick forest. Despite deep inside the forest it has been maintained very well. We loved our stay there and also had the opportunity to witness a giant porcupine which comes daily to the security guard for food.

Aranya niwas is located in the tiger reserve, in the forest, far from the madding crowds it is an ideal location for nature lovers. The behaviour of the Aranya Nivas ( KTDC) staff is excellant. They are very courteous and helpful. Food is good. Little more variety would be good the rates are reasonable. On the whole we enjoyed the stay. Thanks to make-my trip for facilitating this this trip.
