Design Ashram

i recently had the pleasure of staying at design ashram, a beautifully restored 100-year-old courtyard house turned design studio. the charm of this place is undeniable, with its peaceful ambiance and the centerpiece—a majestic banyan tree in the middle of the courtyard, creating a truly serene atmosphere. the space offers the perfect balance of tranquility and creativity, making it an ideal stay for backpackers seeking a calm and quiet retreat. i also had the opportunity to meet the owner, mr. british, who was incredibly humble and welcoming, adding a personal touch to my experience. his passion for preserving the heritage of the property while fostering a creative space is truly commendable. overall, i highly recommend design ashram for anyone looking to unwind in a peaceful environment surrounded by nature and history. this place is a hidden gem for travelers who appreciate design, culture, and calmness.

The place was really good. It was neat and clean, the people were courteous and took care of my needs as and when necessary. Overall it was a very nice place. I would prefer the same place if i happen to visit calicut once again.

The place is immaculately maintained, beds and bathrooms are clean, and the place is literally a stones throw away from the beach (you need a strong arm, though. Mr. Mohan is kind, helpful, and plays violin like a dream.

I enjoyed staying in design ashram, especially the orchestra conducted on every wednesday. Good ambiance, clean bathroom, many good restaurants nearby, caretakers is good and providing proper guidance.

Great ambience, great caretaker, great conversations with arjun bhaiyya. Totally loved the place, 10/10. Will stay once again when i visit calicut. Thank you

Stay is very homely, not like other fancy hostels! best to stay if you are in calicut, theres a tree in the middle of the stay thats beautiful

Good management, the room is clean, bedsheets are clean near the city centre, lots of eateries around and walking distance to the beach
