1) heritage Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps) on rana mahal ghat, pretty close to dashashwamedh ghat (ganga arti, kashi vishwanath temple, gadolia chowk (10-15 mins by auto rickshaw) 2) we (3 pax) stayed in their kashi suite room for 2 nights. Seemingly many famous historical and religious personalities of yesteryears have stayed in this room. It’s on the ground floor, but above the ghat elevation, so great gang-es river view right from the bed! also has 2 balconies (i could peacefully have my cigarettes watching the river and boats. It had a queen-sized bed for 2 people and a cot for the third. All basic amenities were provided in the room. Pretty spacious for a ghat based Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps) in varanasi. Bathroom was renovated and clean with no water related issues. 3) helpful staff - especially mishra ji who showed us around the various main temples, organised sugam/vip passes along with a dedicated pujari guide for kashi vishwanath & ma annapoorna temples (to beat the long queues, boat rides, ganga art i darshan, street food, benarasi sari shopping, etc. Hotel manager mr ajay chakravorty was also cordial and professional. 4) from the main road at madanpura (j&k bank atm is the landmark, Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps) is located about 10+ mins walk through the typical narrow and “not very clean” varanasi lanes. But the Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps) staff helped carrying our luggage (both pick up and drop. After a couple of trips to the main road, got used to navigating the lanes by ourselves. 5) me and wife (both in our early 50s) and my mil (80 yrs) managed to see and enjoy almost all the main attractions of varanasi in our 2n/3d trip. We had visited varanasi from bangalore (blr-ccu layover of around 90 mins-gay flights) via gaya (did pind daan) & bodh gaya (saw the buddha temples. Bodh gaya to varanasi we travel-led in a cab (around 6 hours+ it took with a breakfast stop. Varanasi airport was around 60-75 mins by cab from this Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps) (booked through Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps)) for our return flight to bangalore. 6) their restaurant has both indoor sitting and outdoor sitting, the river view from both is awesome. Has both veg & non veg options (optimal range/variety) both indian & continental fares. 7) free buffet breakfast was included with our room rack rate. 8) few negatives - being a heritage Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps), not much renovation is possible but maintaining cleanliness of the premises and rooms can & should be done better. Restaurant staff seems to have got too used to foreign visitors, they should show same level of courtesy to domestic visitors too. Cleanliness of approach roads to Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps) from main road can be improved maybe with better coordination with the authorities & local rewa can help both local people and tourists. 9) do not confuse this dwivedi Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps)s palace on steps with its next door co-owned dwivedi Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps)s elena, while making your booking decision! 10) go for kashi suite room

I and my mom stayed in this Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps) for 3 days. The Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps) is located very much near to dashashwamedh ghat. Walkable in 2 min through one shortcut path. The location of the Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps) surprised me initially as we had to walk through the narrow lanes of old kashi. But the hospitality of the Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps) was really good. The staff of the Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps) were excellent. They helped us daily in reaching the places we wanted to visit. Any one person from the staff would accompany us until l the temple we wanted to visit. They would either leave us there or come back once we call them through phone. It is purely because of the staff, that we being ladies, never felt scared or lonely in going anywhere in kashi. My special thanks to rinkuji and promodji, who were really down to earth people and helped us in all the things we needed, like giving information about temples, arranging free mineral water bottles daily, arranging a wheel chair for my mom etc. A restaurant is present next to the Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps) and they served really good food at less price. Overall, i felt this Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps) is very much safe not only for female travellers, but also for those who have hindi problem. Thanks to the all merciful kashi vishwanath for taking care of us.

It was a lovely stay. The Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps) is 5 min walk from Dashaswamedh. It also has a clean ghaat of its own. The staff behavior is awesome. The food is great. The restaurant has a great view. We stayed in budget Nomad rooms, and they were a bit cramped and small. However, all the facilities were there. We traveled with a 5-year-old and did not face any problem. At that price, one could not ask for more. The only negative (for those who have a problem walking) is that its around 10-15 min walk from the main road. We did not mind it because we are trekkers and love walking, but people who are not used to it or have mobility restrictions may find it difficult. The narrow lanes actually gave us the feeling of real Kashi (Varanasi) of what we had known about and seen in movies. However, it would have been great if the lane was not so dirty but I guess the Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps) cannot do anything about it. I would definitely recommend this Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps) for anyone visiting Varanasi and wants to stay in a peaceful location near to the ghats.

Hotel is right at the banks of ganga ji at the rana mahal ghat which is connected to dashaadmesh ghat by 5 mins walk. Munshi ghat adjoining ranamahal ghat is good for bath in the morning or called ganga snan. We did morning aarti at assi ghat and saw evening aarti at dashaadmesh ghat, contact guddu mishra ji at the Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps) and he will help you do all needful for mandir darshan and boat ride arrangement in morning at 430 am. Staff is very cordial and we tried tip them well as well for all their help, you have to take their help to come to Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps) from main road and just call Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps) and they will come to pick you. It’s a 10 mins walk in banaras ki famous galiyan, streets, so overall very enjoyable and had good time. Breakfast was complimentary as we booked it with Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps) and was good.

The Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps) was on the Ghats and Ganga can be seen from the dining hall and balcony. The budget rooms where we stayed are good for two people but not adequate for 3 adults. I felt that Rooms are bit small for this price range. Bathrooms are good and there is no problem of water supply. Also if you are new in benaras and not familiar with lanes and bylanes of Kashi you may have a tough time locating the Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps). We reached there after asking the locals dozens of times. But once located you will find it very easy to commute to the Ghats. You have to go down some really big stares to reach the Ghat. Dashaswamedh ghat is nearby. The people working at this Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps) are good and cordial. The food is good though the kitchen needs a face lift and some cleaning.

Since the place is on the river banks, vehicles cannot come near to the Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps). The Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps) however takes care of this by sending its men to pick up the luggage. Ensure to call them well in advance so that they can have their folks ready to receive you from the nearest drop point. It takes just a couple of minutes to walk to the river. We had our early morning baths in the river and could easily walk up to our rooms to change. Kashi vishwanath temple, dashashwamedh ghat is very close and walkable from the Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps). The suite has a very good view. Two budget rooms also has a good view. Make sure to ask for the rooms that have a river view.

Staff- this is the best part about this Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps). The staff was extremely helpful & courteous. We were 2 women travellers and were scared but mr. Anshu (local guide from the Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps)) made our stay memorable. Would always come back and hire him as the tour guide. Location- this property is on the dashashwamedh ghats hence you can get dropped at madanpura/mall thru a vehicle after that you will have to walk down till the property. Property- decent property. Small rooms but comfortable bedding. The washrooms can be better for the price being charged. Food- the restaurant has an amazing view and the quality of food is also good. Overall a good stay- 3. 5/5

Room is very small of budget room, no ventilation and no place for luggage to place. Roof top restaurant is great, food is very good. Staff is very friendly and helping. To reach Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps) is very tricky, you have to pass from different lanes by walk and ask people about location. At the same time it is right On ghat which is plus point. Once u reach Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps) then you will like the location as it is in heart of the City and one can See River from restaurant.
Room was too small with very less ventilation. There was little noise, bathroom did not have jet available. No place to keep clothes and other stuff. No natural light coming in room.

The Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps) was a good spot for backpackers and staff is quite helping and supporting. The location defines the Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps) pretty well. Its like a cozy hostel stay and can be a reliable spot in case you don't expect las vegas in banaras. Go for it, would be nice option. Rest depends on the budget

I booked budget nomad room which are good for couples but small for a family of three adults. The washroom was good and clean. The Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps) is On the ghats and gang a can be seen from dining area. Food was good. The staff is cordial. The problem you might face is locating the Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps) if you are not familiar with lanes and by lanes of Kashi. We had to ask dozens of locals before we reached the Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps). To reach Dashaswamedh ghat quickly, you have to go down some really big stairs. The task might be difficult for the old aged. Overall good stay.

Lovely, relaxing and perfect for my mom and I. Friendly staff, good accommodations and a lovely view to wake up to.

Dear MMT Few things need to get attached to make it Superfine. One tray in Washroom. Small, well designed chairs to fit into the room ... One small electric kettle to have black tea / coffee. Chargeable basis. Railing on Veranda of Room 206. The team of Palace on Step was very good and helpful with smiling faces. Will visit again with my family ...

Ganga view room was provided to me. The room had view of multiple ghats. The only problem is access to the Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps) through tiny lanes whi makes it deep inside. But there is direct and easy access from main ghats l

If you go to varanasi, staying on river ghat is paramount, so for me it was a no brained to choose a Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps) on ghat i chose dwivedi on the steps due close vicinity to a major ghat dashashwamedh ghat. Rooms are ok, all buildings on ghats are old, you pay location and abundant gang-es views. Staff is cordial my special thanks to pramod, whom i used a local guide. Very kind young fellow.

The view from the Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps) is awesome. Easy access to all places by the ghats rather than the alley. Foods are good at the Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps) restaurant. The rooms are very small but cozy. No cable connection during the 5 nights stays at the Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps) due to the nonpayment of cable subscription by the Dwivedi Hotels (Palace on Steps) authority. Staff behavior was good and polite. Stayed from 2nd to 8th January 2020.

Though this is a short walk away from the main road, the place was worth staying for a few days. The only problem is, you need to be cautious while sitting in the balcony as there a lot of monkeys around.
