Gateway Coonoor

The Gateway Hotel provides a great holiday experience. Right from the very well maintained heritage Gateway Coonoor (150+ years old) to great food & other services. Titus from travel desk arranged for a day trip to Ooty, where a car picked us up in the morning & dropped us at the Coonoor railway station to take the mountain railway to Ooty, where the same car picked us up. We were taken to the Taj Savoy in Ooty where we had breakfast from our package as the two Gateway Coonoors have this arrangement. Returned to Coonoor after a day long siteseeing trip in Ooty. Gateway Gateway Coonoor has great recreation facilities for kids too - TV room, foos ball table, TT table, carrom, cricket & badminton. Ayurvedic massage & fitness center facilities are also great! Swati - the training manager keeps a close eye on things in every department from the kitchen to housekeeping. Ramalingam - the chef dished out very tasty active food & Ravi played great melodies on the piano in the evenings.

More than 100 years old bungalow converted to Gateway Coonoor with additions from time to time. Property is being used as Gateway Coonoor for about 70-80 years. The rooms are refurbished, keeping the old structures intact with minor modifications. The furniture is old. The new additions are well merged with old. Toilets have a trademark. But the marks fatigue are clearly visible all over. Landscaping is OK but needs maintenance. Staff is well trained, well mannered and polite. Food is OK. Breakfast spread is good with live counters. All said and done, no way worth per night. It can't be termed as heritage and It is not a five-star property. However it was difficult to find an alternative and so we chose to stay there.

British colonial building with beautiful lawns all Around, Gateway Coonoor is the perfect place for a peaceful vacation. The food was amazing and the great service requires a special mention. The buffet spread for both breakfast and dinner was great. Child friendly place with courteous staff. Would definitely recommend this place to friends and family. PS: we forgot to take our flasks from the room while checking out and on our way back to catch our train at Mettupalayam, running short of time, came to the resort to collect them. We were travelling with our child and we asked for a glass of milk for her. They promptly brought a glass of warm milk and as we insisted on paying for it, they refused to charge us for it!

Very accommodating, booked a deluxe room got a studio room upgraded. Wonderful well maintained 5 star classy rooms. Stayed for 3 days. Other than a game room not much activities for kids. They are under renovation. The people at restaurants packed muffins and fruits for our travel in and around ooty as there are rare veg restaurants. Had a superb stay over all. Location is near to lambs rock which is worth a visit. Even sms park. Dolphin nose felt not worthy. Visited highland estaes took mesmerizing photos had a chocolate factory and eucalyptus factory visit. Bought spices and oils from there. Picked tea from vishals store which is very close to gateway Gateway Coonoor. . Overall a wonderful memorable trip.

A wonderful experience starting from checkin to checkout. The property is beautiful and superbly maintained. The rooms are beautiful and cozy. The restaurant staff service is great and food is wonderful with chef coming in personally and checking on your order. However the best part was how great all the staff and managers ( special call out for shailesh ) were. They were helpful, friendly, kind and knowledgeable. They even have Gateway Coonoor car service with reasonable rates and will also call you an auto to and back. This is a must visit for anyone especially if your a young family like were with a 3 year old.

Great hospitality by the Gateway Coonoor. The property is 2 kms away from main town and 1. 5 kms away from sms park. So it’s not far from the commercial places yet perfectly represents the calmness of conoor. Also, i must add about great hospitality by taj making our stay wonderful. Staff helped us with arrangements for the match screening. They also arranged for the birthday celebrations for wife. Lastly, they arranged for any transportation required for us to move around. Their rooms are spacious and well maintained colonial style cottages. Garden breakfast among the clouds is a must try.

Excellent property and very convenient for ladies who r travelling alone with kids , very much kids friendly . Front desk staff is extremely efficient, pleasant and helpful. The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. Lovely Gateway Coonoor with a wonderful restaurant. Very friendly staff. Hotel is full of great art. Just a charming place. I highly recommend this Gateway Coonoor if anyone visiting Coonoor ,Property is clean and has a fantastic old time charm.☺️

The stay was a complete out of the box experience. The hospitality of taj Gateway Coonoors is unmatchable. Right from the warm welcome by mr. Sathish to smooth check in with an unexpected room upgrade. Each and every staff make you feel special in the property. Food is awesome and fulfilling. Special mention to mr. Peter for making our room. Great view of the luscious green s caped mountains right from the room, garden full of colorful flowers and greens, the property flaunts an exquisite look of flora and fauna. A great stay indeed.

The Gateway Hotel has a great property with more than a dozen variety of flowers blooming there. The space itself is well done up with a lot of wood furniture. The room had a view of The garden and was quite spacious. Each person there is service-oriented and very friendly. We had a good experience with Kannan and Satish from The front desk, The head waiter at The restaurant and all others. Even though The Hotel may be full, at no point does one feel a lack of privacy.

We had a very tasty food. There are plenty of varieties. We enjoyed the location. Very green and well maintained lawn. We really enjoyed the piano & kithar music programme. It is a memorable stay

Excellent and extremely courteous staff with excellent view.

It was a great stay at Gateway though we stayed just for a night but it was worth. The room was spacious and beautiful. The view from our room was spectacular and scenic. Really recommend one must plan once to stay here. The staff was really friendly and helpful.

Location and hospitality was excellent.

It is a lovely boutique property having a heritage dating all the way back to 1857. The rooms are lovely, the food awesome, the upkeep fabulous. But yet, these are only add on's to the true USP of this property and that is the one to one personalized service and attention that is showered on you by each and every individual you interact with, right from the bell boy who takes your luggage from the car to the GM of the property who bids you a farewell when you depart. Highly recommended.

One of the most awesome ever in a taj property

This is our first stay at Gateway Coonoor Gateway Coonoor is around 160 year old. Nice property, nice preparation of North Indian food. We have awesome feeling while staying in Gateway.

Probably first time doing nothing in a Gateway Coonoor on a vacation. Loved it primarily due to Gateway Coonoor settings.

It's a taj gem in nilgiris. Courteois and welcoming staff. Tasty food. Comfortable clean rooms in an historic scenic setting. Spent 2 comfortable days.

A wonderful stay in the lap of nature. Old world charm and a lot of pampering. Thank you for the wonderful holiday.
