My wife and i go for a two night getaway once a month or two. Our aim is to rejuvenate ourselves, spoil ourselves with good food and drinks. Gateway Gateway Varkala - IHCL SeleQtions in varkala is one of our choicest destinations we have visited again and again. We love the property. The rooms are very well appointed and fairly big, though the property is old. We had gone in for a sea facing room. It has a balcony with views of the sea in the distance with lush greenery before the sea. You can hear the roaring of the sea from the balcony. It’s awesome. I would suggest that the chairs provided on the balcony be equipped with cushions for a comfortable seating. We had opted for a package inclusive of breakfast, lunch and dinner. We where disappointed to see the same restricted package menu given for dinner on the first night. However, dharmesh cariappa the gm immediately got naresh the chef to address it and thereafter we could choose any item on the restaurant menu. That was commendable. The staff in the restaurant where amazing and they where competing to spoil us with different items on the breakfast spread. We ate much more than we normally eat for breakfast just because of those smiling faces encouraging us to eat more. Special mention of rahana and shams-ha is very appropriate here. These youngsters are very resourceful and happy to keep you happy. Well done. This getaway for us has been superb. Well done team gateway Gateway Varkala - IHCL SeleQtions.

It was a pleasant stay in Taj Varkala. Kid's friendly as always. My kid's absolutely loved the pool. Our room was sea facing and very neat, clean with housekeeping done regularly. All meal buffets were complimentary for kids. Got a meal card from MMT which was an added bonus. There is only one restaurant which was something I didn't expect. But the restaurant staff was very kind and polite. Food was good with maintained quality. The property is not very huge like other Taj properties. A good kid's play area is missing. Front office staff was very welcoming and polite. All the chauffeurs were very polite and drove safely, gave information about different places. Overall a nice property to stay at with family. Taj is always a trustworthy name and I have had a good experience everytime.

Gateway varkala is located near the north cliff and also has an access road to the beach which is a 500m walk. Autos charge 100 inr (march 2023) to take you to the cliff (north/south. Although the property is near the beach, there are only 8 rooms that give you a sea view out of which 4 are suites. The hospitality at gateway is impeccable with so much personalization that would make you feel very special. The food is good and the views from the restaurant are amazing. When you plan your varkala trip, keep a day reserved to relax at the gateway. Enjoy the pool, board games, massage/spa and the stellar service.

we are family of 4 stayed in the Gateway Varkala - IHCL SeleQtions for 2 nights. our overall experience is really good. staff is very courteous and available to help in whatever needs we have for my family including a toddler. breakfast is also good and staff tried their best to get hot items wherever possible. property is located at the beach front and heritage construction helping guests to get royal feelings. overall we recommend the Gateway Varkala - IHCL SeleQtions to everyone either as bachelor or family.

We stayed in varkala for 4 days and our experience with gateway was really mesmerising the property is really beautiful with a great connectivity to varkala beach. Food was amazing. They have one of the best hospitality and staff was really courteous. Shebin and asusti was really helpful in taking care of overall stay from early check in to late check out. The ayurveda spa was also worth trying. Overall one of the best property at varkala with comfortable stay and beautiful view.

We stayed here in the last week on oct 2022. The property is very well located, near the varkala beach and janardanaswamy temple (2000 yrs old) as well as north cliff. Though not on the beach, the property provides private access to the beach, which was closed during our stay in oct 2022. The rooms are spacious, neat n clean. The staff is very warm and ever ready to help, a typical taj value. The food is very good and menu is well curated. All and all a very good experience.

Great hospitality by staff Ridhin and team. Rooms were also big and with spacious bathrooms with high-quality toiletries. However, balcony and poolside furniture looked jaded and hence need an upgrade. Coming to food, breakfast buffet was great. There was a lunch buffet the day we checked in but the coffee machine was not working and staff was overworked to take care of my requests as there was a huge group that just walked in.

The stay was so good. The rooms were pretty clean. Breakfast was delicious with many choices. The people in the reception were very helpful, not just on checkin and checkout, but also in giving directions to spots and helped in many things especially mr reji chettan, mr sudheep chettan and miss sruthy chechy. I would recommend to friends, and will definitely stay again if im back in varkala.

Safety standards are followed here including temperature checkups n hand mask and hand hygiene. Points to improve would be strict sanitation of frequently touched surfaces and equipments. Overall good.

Excellent property with peaceful and serene environment and comfortable rooms. Fifteen minute walk from beach on either side as the direct access road is closed. Nice buffet spread for breakfast, good boacony and garden attached to room and very spacious bathroom. Overall nice couple of days spent.

Food is average, taste was also not good, but overall it is the best Gateway Varkala - IHCL SeleQtions to stay at varkala.

we had a very nice stay..staff was very helpful and made us comfortable. special mention to reji and sudeep who made our stay wonderful 👍🏻. property is at very good location and well maintained, house housekeeping staff service is very quick and sudeep the manager ensures your stay is comfortable.

Price of the food was overpriced with very very less quantity. We ordered pasta which was rs. 500 plus tax but we expected at least a minimum quantity which should be good to satisfy the hunger of a normal adult but it was not there. But yes the food was tasty and quality was good. 4th star Gateway Varkala - IHCL SeleQtions should not mean that food will be overpriced with less quantity.

Booked gateway varkala as part of a last minute plan. Boy! we were well taken care of there. Quality of rooms, well maintained poola and the al fresco dining. Hotel property is a pleasure to explore. Only wish qa to have better menu selections for a la carte.

This place is a comfort away from home. A beautiful property at a good location and great hospitality. The property has the traditional vibes of kerala with touch of modernity and the view of the sea from the premises is just mesmerizing. The courteous and humble staff made our stay even more comfortable.

The stay was good but the food options are limited but overall it’s a good property. It’s faraway from the beach though.

We stayed at gateway varkala for 2 days and loved it. We were welcomed by reji and hustle free checkin experience. The property is located near the beach and they gave us a free upgrade to sea facing room. The staff at the gateway are very friendly. The restaurant is good.

The location is pretty nice, having easy access to beach and the cliff is a brief walk away. The rooms are nicely maintained and the swimming pool and the attached pool bar is nice. The tiled chairs and the area near the bar in the pool require a bit more cleaning- some debris accumulated in the bottom. The staff were cordial and helpful.
