Hope Hostel, by the Sea

This was my first experience as a solo traveler, and I really enjoyed it. The place I stayed was completely on the beach and was the best place to stay. The atmosphere there was amazing.

it was an excellent stay all together , location is premium , the place has got a vibe , , it has got a good outdoor places to chill , nice rooms , nice dormitory , very friendly staff , would love to be back here again .. looking forward ! it was an amazing stay , good housekeeping , friendly staff , board games , table tennis to chill in outdoors , basic canteen kitchen for tea coffee snacks was very good , overall a very comfortable experience. looking forward to visit again

I stayed at Hope Hostels in Varkala with a group of five friends, and it turned out to be one of the most comfortable and safest hostel experiences I’ve had. From the moment we arrived, the vibe of the place felt positive and welcoming. The staff were incredibly kind, easy to interact with, and genuinely made us feel at home throughout our stay. One of the biggest highlights for me was the cleanliness. The washrooms were spotless, well-maintained, and cleaned regularly—something that instantly adds to your comfort when travelling in groups. The entire property was kept neat, and it’s clear that the management pays great attention to hygiene and upkeep. The social atmosphere at the hostel was another major plus. They have plenty of games and interactive corners in the common areas, which makes it so easy to unwind, have fun, and meet fellow travellers. Whether we were hanging out after exploring the town or just relaxing in the evenings, the common spaces added a lot of charm to our stay. But the best part? The location! The hostel is literally situated on the cliff, which is one of the most beautiful and sought-after areas in Varkala. Waking up to that view, having cafés and the beach within walking distance, and being so close to the cliffside vibe made the stay even more special. Overall, Hope Hostels offers a perfect combination of safety, hospitality, cleanliness, and an easygoing social environment. Whether you’re travelling solo, with friends, or just looking to meet new people, this hostel is a wonderful choice. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Varkala!

We haven't eaten property's food but we can make there and eat it's superb u just love the place it's very welcoming and the place is very cozy we can chill play music,games etc. Talking about the location it's very near to the main beach so it's great to visit at any time, facilities are good including rooms, kitchen,and bathroom so on.

I stayed in private room. It's in the cliff itself and having a view of sea through windows. Not worth for the expense. Its a decent stay.

Nice experience and a fantastic stay

Rooms were extremely dirty. Manager was rude, refused to change the room even when more rooms were available. People have been staying here for over a month and have no of cleanliness. Even the manager doesn’t ask them to keep their stuff on their side

Rooms are a little small and so are the bathrooms but the location and staff are excellent. As someone who only went to hostel just to sleep and was out exploring the city the whole day, this place is prefect as it is cheap and in a prime location. They even help you with bike rentals. Would definitely recommend and come back :) <3

Goods: 1) location is perfect , beach is visible from the property. Bads: 1)Rooms were congested. 2)There was 1 bathroom for like 4 rooms which is like 14-18 people which makes it difficult for morning rituals and it becomes dirty very rapidly.

Very beautiful place, affordable accommodation, friendly staff

The staff on site was excellent, really supportive and helpful and went above above and beyond but overall the place could use a lot of improvement in terms of basic facilities like geyser, hygiene products (soap etc), cleanliness of the facility especially bathroom and kitchen The location and setup is pretty good. Overall approach from management seems lacking and not providing adequate or basic facilities to guests. They dynamic pricing is also exorbitant and had to pay 3x to extend stay for the next day.

I stayed in hope hostel. overall the ambience and room was good. it is located near the beach. we have taken 6 stay mixed dorm. Highly recommended for solo and budget friendly travellers.

The stay was amazing and very near to varkala helipad entrance. The room was good with well maintained and cleanliness. Even after the checkout the owner provided us space for keeping our luggage as we wanted to visit the beach after their checkout time and when we came back from the beach they allowed us to use their bathrooms for taking a bath (no extra charges). The place is really nice and scenery were pretty good. They also had board games like chess, carrom, table tennis etc that we can play without paying any charges. They also had good 21 gear bicycles for 200 rupees each cycle for 24 hrs with no faults. All over very good experience.

Food was Expensive, Vibe was Good But Room should be having AC facility and proper air ventilation
