Colonel's Retreat in defence colony is built just like a home away from home. It is very close to the Lajpat Nagar metro station and market yet in the middle of a residential area which is so peaceful. The connectivity to Delhi is excellent, you will be in the popular areas of CP, Khan Market or Old Delhi in not more than half an hour. The rooms were clean and spacious for two persons. The whole property is kept spotlessly clean and also very calm and relaxed. The service is a major plus of this property. They are extremely respectful of your space, so much so that they are always around to help but never bother you unnecessarily. The property is run by an extremely polite yet vigilant group of staff which make the whole stay much more enjoyable and safe. Lastly, the security of this property is the best part. I have not felt more secure in a Colonel's Retreat | Rooms in a Homestay BnB in India than this before. I was staying here with my mother and we saw another pair of ladies staying in another room. And not once did we feel unsafe. They have a kitchen on the ground floor where they prepare a fresh delicious breakfast consisting of eggs, stuffed parathas, dosa, idli, vada, poha and tea and coffee along with fruits like bananas. The menu remains the same which wasn't an issue for us. You have to inform them if you would like to have lunch or dinner in advance so they can prepare it for you. In terms of room service, it is not a Colonel's Retreat | Rooms in a Homestay so you just go out of the room and get hold of one of the super polite boys if you need anything. If room service is a big thing for you then you might not like it here, I preferred this relaxed homely approach. The drawing room area outside the rooms on every floor is a lavish space with beautiful furniture and stocked with amazing books. You could just spend a day there and won't be bored for a minute. The Colonel of the Colonel's Retreat drops in sometimes and also likes to sit for a chat with guests. So I stayed here for four nights with my mother and had the most comfortable, safe and enjoyable stay. We will be coming back very soon again.

I like home stays over Colonel's Retreat | Rooms in a Homestay stays. This place brings together best of both worlds. Wonderful atmosphere, clean and very well lit rooms, spotless-clean-warm showers, good breakfast and sweet yet very professional people. Mobile networks might be tricky to get access to but hey they have a very good Wi-Fi, so it's not much of an issue. Would blindly recommend to anyone going to Delhi. Could actually meet and talk to Colonel himself, he is a fine old man. Closest metro is lajpat nagar (theoretically) but it's easier to walk to Moolchand metro. If you get down at Lajpat nagar walk towards moolchand and you will find a small gate between two shops which will lead you inside the defence colony. From Moolchand metro there are two gates to get inside the defence colony. BEWARE: gates towards Moolchand metro are closed past 11:00pm so plan accordingly. You can still get inside from one of the gates if you are ready to duck! It's not that difficult.

The rooms here are very homey, spotlessly clean and comfortable and well decorated. There is always hot water and great water pressure and clean linen and towels. The staff are very humble, respectful, sincere and attentive. The area is very quiet and green and you can feel very at home in Delhi if you stay here. Wifi was good and we felt the rooms to be very good value for the facilities offered. Our only complaint is the food. Food is severely overpriced, huge amounts for a veg thali and a non veg thali and none of the prices are marked on the menu. They claim that this is because it is home cooked but even I doubt if that is true. We were served the exact same varieties in our meal. 2 nights in a row which left us feeling that we were being served barely reheated food from the night before. That being said, please do not let that deter you from this Colonel's Retreat | Rooms in a Homestay, there are plenty of restaurants very near by that offer home delivery as well.

The advantage of guest houses is that they have more of a home like feel to them. That is wonderful if Colonel's Retreat | Rooms in a Homestays seem cold and unpleasant, and in Delhi they really do, but not great if you value your anonymity. Even still, I very much enjoyed the Colonel's Retreat. If you want to be in South Delhi, Def Col is a great location. The rooms are cleaner and a grade or two nicer than 3 star Colonel's Retreat | Rooms in a Homestays; the staff much more helpful. The food is much fresher and more wholesome than most Colonel's Retreat | Rooms in a Homestays, and there is a much appreciated attention to quality. However, I stayed for 6 days and I found the small menu became monotonous. The staff was not quite prepared to deviate from the menu, but that won't be a problem if you are only staying for a couple of days (not long enough to get bored of it. The owners were very helpful to me, and it's nice to have help from those who know Delhi so well.

The Colonel's Retreat | Rooms in a Homestay is well located in a quiet residential area, away from the traffic so that a perfect for a quiet night. The metro is a short 10 minutes walk away and you can use the violet line to access most of the tourist attractions. The neighborhood can be explored to find some shops and restaurants and to be among the locals. The room was of a good size and very clean including toilets and shower. We arrived at 1 am and someone was there to welcome us and quickly show us around. The breakfast was delicious and we had dinner there one night too and the quality did not disappoint. The service was top notch. If you are looking for a clean, quiet place with fantastic service at a fair price, this is the place for you I would also add that this was our first Colonel's Retreat | Rooms in a Homestay in India and Delhi can be very overwhelming, we were very glad to come back to this safe haven every evening.

I stayed there for 3 nights and trust me it's far more better than any luxury resort. Rooms are too comfortable especially the decor is just out of the world... Loved it to the core. Extra brownies should be given for Hygiene.... The SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) has been followed routinely...No bad smell no suffocation...a proper ventilation is there and you feel so comfortable just like you feel at your home. Regarding food I must say that it's delicious but with limited options especially for vegetarian like us we had limited choice. Staff is so courteous they look after your every thing with gracious smile. They are so disciplined and focused on their work no lethargic environment I found there. If you are looking for a calm serene place then your search stopped at Colonels Retreat for sure. Kudos to the owner and their extended family cum staff for providing such a warm welcome environment in midst of Delhi city.

What a lovely place! Spotlessly clean. Beautiful decor. Rooms a bit tiny .. Yet have fridge hot pot attached bathrooms with great warm showers .. Good natural light ... Very good AC .. Excellent connections to metro 5 mts away. Markets are 15 mts walk .. Staff a bit untrained or inefficient. Just make sure you know what they are billing you for. The Colonel lives elsewhere yet has put the best quality fixtures and furnishings. And cares about the guests well being. The common areas are Nice with books to help your travels. The one downside is that the WiFi is very poor and the local indian phone networks have no signal in the rooms. So this was frustrating. They should help give us alternate sim cards for the stay.

The Colonel's Retreat | Rooms in a Homestay offers great value for money. The staff was amiable and catered to some odd requests too. Clean Colonel's Retreat | Rooms in a Homestay, clean rooms, and great bathrooms. Some problems being lack of plug points in the room and no water wash in the WC. I highly recommend this Colonel's Retreat | Rooms in a Homestay for longer stays, feels like home.

Nestled deep in D block of defence colony, walking distance from Moet's, Sagar, Amichi and super supportive staff, it not only is a homestay, it also felt like a homestay.

The place is very clean and the rooms are beautiful with nice lighting and ambience. A perfect place to stay whenever you are in delhi.

Staff is also courteous. Just need improvement in breakfast menu. Overall it’s great experience to stay in this property.

I'm a business traveller hopping between Delhi and Chandigarh, the first time I came across Colonel's Retreat I thought it some kind of expats hostel. I'm glad I booked here for 3 nights in the serenity of Defence Colony. Excellent stay, superb decor and very friendly staff, smiling face every time. Good place away from Hustle bustle of the city. Already planning my next visit!

We had a lovely stay at the property. The location of the homestay is superb. The caretaker, kamlesh, did a fabulous job. Cleanliness, including that of the washroom, was exemplary. Room size is good. Just a few irritants: mobile network is an issue sometimes and the chef seemed to be avoiding taking orders. All in all, a very pleasant stay. Would love to be back again

I will not call it Hotel. It is a guest house kind of stay. Surprisingly there is no Board having name " Colonel Retreat "on the Building. It house of a retired colonel which is being used for accommodation purpose. I faced a lot of problem in searching the property. No doubt Property is good having well maintained rooms. There is no restaurant but on request kitchen service is available.

It was an amazing stay situated at the best locations and safe environment. Room was very clean and comfortable. Food was good as well. I will definitely prefer to book this place for my next trip.

This place was more like a home stay then a Colonel's Retreat | Rooms in a Homestay. The rooms were clean. The whole staff was amazing. The manager even packed us an early breakfast when we checked out at 5 am for flight. Would recommend this place to all the travelers for its excellent service and staffs.
