Hotel Sonar Bangla, Taki

We enjoyed a good stay at Hotel Sonar Bangla Taki on June 10-11th, 2024. Based on our experience, I am sharing my detailed review: The Good 1. Location of the resort - majestically placed on the banks of River Ichamati with Bangladesh visible on the other side of the river 2. Room - The Premium room allotted to us (Room No. 408) offered both sideways and front views of the river and horizon. It was awesome! 3. Food - Largely all preparations were nicely done and had a homely touch to them. 4. Entire property well maintained and beautifully adorned The Underwhelming Aspects 1. It took us almost 1 hour for check-in as there was heavy rush and boarders had to make a long queue to complete check-in process. We eventually got our room 40 mins after scheduled time. The Hotel Sonar Bangla, Taki did nothing to compensate for that. In fact, no one even apologised for this delay. If the Hotel Sonar Bangla, Taki was expecting a heavy rush, they should have made arrangements to handle the same efficiently. 2. Some of the staff members (housekeeping, restaurant, etc.) need to be groomed further and need to be more efficient. For example, the person at the reception area assigned to give welcome drink to the guests was standing with the beverages at one place instead of moving around. The guests had to either call him or walk up to him to get the welcome drink. He sported a disinterested look instead of a smile. 3. The lunch buffet is priced Rs 999 + 18% tax, but the number of items/options are less as per the price. Food quality was good, but the ice cream was bad and it was reported. 4. In the complimentary buffet breakfast, there were 3 egg items, but for those who eat pure veg or are allergic to egg, the only alternative was 2 sweets. 5. Housekeeping staff arrived at our room on the checkout day at 10.58 am although checkout time is 11 am and we had not informed till then that we are ready to leave. This is unacceptable, especially considering the check-in happened 40 mins late. We hope that the Sonar Bangla team takes this feedback seriously and addresses the same so that future guests do not face these issues.

Being an impromptu plan pair, we love a holistic stay when we visit some place. Hotel sonar bangla, taki has been one of the best of our stays in a very long time. To begin with, a last minute booking, followed by an extremely smooth check in - was impressive. A facility like golf caddies to take us to our cottage definitely stands out here. A major point that should not be missed out on is the politeness and courteousness of the staff. Be it housekeeping, security, or restaurant - they will go out of their way to ensure that your stay is worth remembering. We did not get a scope to explore all the cuisines available here - but we did try the bengali cuisine - and relished it thoroughly. The location and view needs no new mention - a beautiful scenic spot away from the hustle of the city. Perfect place for a weekend gateway. Family, friends, and couples are equally welcomed and can enjoy their stay. One quick suggestion for the restaurant, you might want to consider your toppings on the caramel custard. The custard being delicious, just plain caramel sauce is perfect, it doesn’t call for a whipped cream, chocolate, or a cherry! i will definitely come back again for a stay soon.

The best thing about the property is its location. It is situated right by the side of ichamati river which separates bangladesh from india. It has a serene atmosphere which is condusive for a relaxing stay and provides a perfect place to get away from the hassles of city life. The food here is good but there is scope for improvement. The staffs here are very cordial and understanding. The property is couple friendly. We stayed in ac deluxe ground floor room for night. The room was a little stinky at first. We had to ask the house keeping to spray room freshner. The food was good but there is scope for improvement. The swimming pool was not very clean. The spa experience was average. If you plan to stay in this Hotel Sonar Bangla, Taki, it is better to opt for platinum villa which is situated a little far from the main building. We stayed first night in a platinum villa and the next night in this ac deluxe ground floor room because we couldnt find any platinum villa available for our second night.

Loved everything about the resort. The ambience, the view, the amenities. We went on a family trip during durga pooja, the resort was fully occupied still they managed everything nicely. Rooms are spacious, very clean and well maintained. Only thing not upto the mark was the food. The day we reached, we did not know much about the resort the only thing we could see was "only buffet today for lunch. We payed 1000- per person for very average food quality also there were not much options. Later we came to know about other cafe isolated near garden where we had some burger pizza and sandwich for dinner and a beautiful sky lounge where we spent some time after dinner until it was closed. Played table tennis and pool, played badminton and had some workout in gym. Did boating in the evening from outside the resort since the resort slots were all booked. The motor boat took us till bangladesh border where we could see their bsf boat and returned. Witnessed amazing sunset view. Overall very relaxing stay.

Excellent location, comfortable drive from kolkata. Property is very good, clean and maintained well. However, service needs to mature in keeping with the property. For example: 1. No room service between 4 and 6 pm - when one usually wants tea after an afternoon nap. 2. No tissue paper provided in rooms - only in villas. 3. Sky-bar poorly stocked, no brandy or liqueurs. Refuse to offer a toddy, only rum with hot water, no cloves or cardamom. Necessary for winters also, no snacks served without drinks! 4. Make sure to ask which is the geyser switch, not marked and hides as a regular light switch. 5. In room 516, there is a painting on the wall half hidden by a cupboard. Why or for what? 6. Ac is crazy, blows hot and cold - spent the night covering and throwing off the comforter. Do look forward to visiting them again and expect these little issues will have been resolved.

The experience was amazing with outstanding hospitality and awesome food. The property has scenic giew all across and so many zones to entertain in so many ways. There is a beautiful cafe and multiple lounging options. The breakfast was the best spread of variety and taste. The dishes were all very tasteful and well presented. Mr achinta debnath, operation manager, has been very, very, very helpful in ensuring a wonderful experience for my parents in law, including helping me plant the surprises remotely. His personal touch to taking care of guests is impeccable. There are network issues in the property, and connectivity is the only problem, but it is understandable as they are on the border side and they are also working on it. Overall, it was an amazing stay experience for my parents in law. Hope they keep making people happy the same way.

I stayed in this Hotel Sonar Bangla, Taki for a day on the eve of my husband’s birthday. We booked a superior deluxe room because of unavailability of their premium rooms. It was a room on the 2nd floor with a balcony overlooking the ichhamati river. The property is a well kept one. Room was spacious, although the washroom could have been a little bigger. Cherry on the cake was the weather with rain and thunderstorms. Food is okay, ala carte is a better option to go with as opposed to their lunch buffet. Staffs and services are good enough. Suggestion for check in is to complete the web check in before hand to avoid unnecessary wait at the reception specially on weekends. Plenty of space for parking. Although taki is not having a number of places to go around, however, one can explore the entire property taking a nice stroll.

This weekend trip to Taki Sonar Bangla has etched out a lasting impression on us. The moment I looked out of the reception, I knew I’m hooked for life. This property has a breathtaking view! Coupled with this is the courtesy extended by the staff, whao ! My room at 2nd floor was another brownie point. Everything was so nicely done. The verandah looks out to a sprawling lawn and a swimming pool whose horizon mixes with the beautiful Ichamati river …. It was slighted drizzling and everything culminated into such a masterpiece. The food here was also quite good. I liked the fact that their cooking style is so tasty yet not very rich. This leaves a very fond aftertaste in your mouth. The responses received from all their staff were so excellent, trust me on that as I have two naughty kids!

Very nice property. Best part is that you can see the river from your Hotel Sonar Bangla, Taki room food is sumptuous.

Swimming pool is superb. Musical shower is also full of fun. Overall atmosphere is good. But only buffet lunch was available instead of ala carta. Sky lounge and musical bar is excellent.

It is good weekend destination. The property is very well maintained. The behaviour of all staffs are very good. Fooding is good but a bit expensive. As it is a luxurious and expensive property i think that they should look after some key points : 1. Should change the water of swimming pool at regular intervals as we found the water is uncleaned. 2. As it is a luxurious & expensive property we expect they should make sure that all rooms have wifi connectivity (not only lobby. 3. Should have bathtub in bathroom. 4. Should have exhaust facility in bathroom. 5. Can provide a small token of love (like chocolates, plants etc) to the guests who are checking out. (it's my personal opinion.

The stay was good ! service was super fast, food was great, the cleanliness of the room could be a touch better, lizard in the room was a bit odd ! also some spots on the bed sheet !

We had a great stay. The location and the maintenance are awesome. Very delightful experience. A must visit for everyone. A resort worthful for spending weekends with friends and family.

Three nights trip at sonar bangla was very nice. Hotel staff were very well behaved. The total experience was very good

The property is very good and the location is reachable. The room does not have a hair dryer and after several calls also they forgot to provide it. The room rate is like a five star property, but the facilities are not that much. But the room size and view from the room is awesome.

Location is very good. Ichamati river visible from Hotel Sonar Bangla, Taki room. Lush green property. Food is excellent. Fish items were sumptuous. Breakfast spread average.

Location excellent. Breakfast buffet elaborate but very average in quality. Downside they don't allow ala carte for lunch in restaurant. Have to take room delivery which is quite a hassle.
