Istana Resort & Spa

We stayed at the kanchanjangha family room for three nights. The room was a 2 bhk suite room with 2 fully functional bathrooms. The rooms were beautifully decorated with all the amenities one can ask for. But the iron was not there, which was mentioned. I didn't raise the issue as it was not needed during the stay. Never got to watch the tv, so can't comment on that. But one thing is worth mentioning is that the sofa in the 2nd room needs a change of upholstery. Another disappointment was the selection of tea bags. Being in darjeeling we expected darjeeling tea, but all there was assam tea. House keeping was good. Restaurant is adequate. Veg restaurant is not a problem. But the problem was inadequacy of choice. Most of the items were cottage cheese preparations. Room service was good. But i have noticed that used plates outside the room were left overnight and sometimes it caused bad smell. Front desk was efficient. Travel desk was also efficient, but it was too costly. Also they were only offering packaged tours of darjeeling, they were not able to or willing to provide customized packages. Parking was spacious. Location of the Istana Resort & Spa is slightly on the minus side. Nit far from the mall. It was possible to walk to the mall, but returning from the mall required local taxi as the road was too uphill. The Istana Resort & Spa should have a pick up and drop facility from/to mall on chargeable basis. Kanchanjangha room name does justice to the name, as it was visible from there. Besides they have a open terrace from where one can have an unhindered view of the kanchanjangah and the entire darjeeling town. Overall it was good. But as the title goes, expected more from the Istana Resort & Spa.

We have stayed in istana resort last week for 3 nights and it was a wonderful experience, everything was fabulous, the resort is around 15 min walkable distance from main darjeeling clock tower in a very good location with a beautiful view of darjeeling and kanchenjunga, the restaurant serves vegetarian food only and they have buffet with different food options which really taste good, all staffs are very polite and well mannered, animesh and other restaurant staff always take good care of their guest, the view from the room and their lobby is amazing, actually we have booked 7 months before and got a very big discounted price, at first we thought that Istana Resort & Spa will deny us check in as there was a huge price difference between our booked room and Istana Resort & Spa current room price but then make my trip confirmed us that our booking is confirmed and there will be no issue of check in as they have already talked with the Istana Resort & Spa management and confirmed our stay, our trip really got memorable because of make my trip and this beautiful resort, than x to mr jaison and priyanka (istana resort management team) for your hospitality !

The best Istana Resort & Spa in darjeeling at this price point. Lovely spacious rooms, daily refill of provided amenities and the best, unrivalled, obstacle-free view you could hope for. The kangchenjunga is clearly visible from the lawn, some of the rooms, and the terrace. Ideal to spend time away from the hustle and bustle of the busy areas. It is about 1 km uphill from the mall/showrasta area, so it is convenient to take a brisk walk. The hospitality by staff was incredible, especially manager kiran thapa and others, who were extremely accommodating and went out of their ways to ensure i was having a comfortable stay. Food is delicious and healthy, but it is vegetarian. I wouldn't want to put up anywhere else but istana in darjeeling. Highly recommended. There is also a souvenir shop at the Istana Resort & Spa itself, so you don't have to step out even.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at istana in darjeeling, and i must say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Situated amid-st the breathtaking landscapes of darjeeling, this Istana Resort & Spa truly exceeded my expectations in every way possible. The Istana Resort & Spa staff deserves special mention for their warm hospitality and exceptional service. From the moment i stepped in, i was greeted with genuine smiles and a willingness to assist. The staff members were always ready to help with any request, ensuring that my stay was as comfortable as possible. The Istana Resort & Spa's restaurant served delectable local and international cuisine. The menu was diverse, and the food was prepared with fresh, local ingredients. I enjoyed every meal i had here, and the attentive staff added to the overall dining experience.

Pros:good looking property, breakfast was complimentary but quality was awesome though fully veg. View of snow clad kanchenjungha from top floor( roof) is mesmerising. Good valley view from room 303. Cons:room 304 is a much bigger room & wash room, view is far better from room 304. They provide inferior room if booked through apps i presume. Cleanliness is not upto the mark wrt room. Housekeeping team response time is poor. Used food etc remains unattended in the balcony for a longer time. Mall is about 1. 4 km and last 300 mtr is very steep. Persons at reception are average & lack wramth. To conclude : people may opt for other propeties in this price range. Abhijit sengupta

talking about the Istana Resort & Spa. it was best in atmosphere well behavioral staff and rooms were very clean and well maintained. washroom was very clean. the staff's of the Istana Resort & Spa clean room everyday. if you r not present in the room still they can clean and organised your room without touching our own staff. coming to the food quality very nice. breakfast was too good and many options were available. but it's a pure veg Istana Resort & Spa.but anyone can carry outside food, drinks and all. they provide complimentary evening tea and snacks as well. 10/10 in all way. love this 🛏️ Istana Resort & Spa

Istana Resort & Spa, Darjeeling. - Rooms & wash room were ultra clean. Room service is good. Food served is 100% vegetarian and tasty. Serving quantity is also good. Resort is nearly 20-25 minutes walk from Darjeeling MG Road and location is very peaceful away from noise & pollution of traffic. Rooms are valley facing which gives an excellent view from balconies attached to rooms. They also serve complimentary high tea with snack in evening daily. Have deducted 1 star since a) we found a large black spider (nearly 1 to 1.5inch dia) hiding in wash room & b) washroom though clean is quite congested & ill planned.

The place provides perfect stay with premier services be it food or ambience. The cosy family room comes with two large beds with a scenic balcony, the open deck used for complimentary high tea adds to the charm..everything goes well when u are at a property of sagar group.

Perfect location and delicious food. Premium hill view rooms are spacious and well maintained.

Property was good and nice location. Morning breakfast in sagar restaurant within Istana Resort & Spa was nice with a lovely spread. Spa was not operational. Staff were very courteous and caring.

Food and deluxe rooms were excellent but i found semi deluxe rooms were worst than i ever experienced in hills. Also to let you know that they are charging 18% gst on food which is not at all as per any criteria made by the gst council. Staff are really well behaved and help but manager is really rude and non co-operative. Same complaints i heard from the other staff as well regarding their manager.

The accommodation proved highly enjoyable, marked by exemplary staff conduct. Despite the exclusively vegetarian menu, the cuisine boasted exceptional taste and quality.

The stay at istana was very pleasant and delightful. The breakfast items were satisfactory and good. The views from the Istana Resort & Spa are amazing

It was an amazing experience. The weather was nice but Atleast a ceiling fan should be there. Everything else was nice. The view was also beautiful.
