KTDC Periyar House

We had an amazing stay at periyar house with my family. This is located in the middle of forest with beautiful children's play area. You can take an early morning and evening stroll with your family and take amazing photos. The room is super clean and the reception is pretty responsive with all necessary amenities like food and wi-fi. You can book periyar lake boat ride (a must ) right-away at the reception itself. Periyar house is the most affordable stay inside periyar tiger reserve you can spot deers and monkeys when you take a stroll. The only thing you might miss out is to visit kathakali dance and kalaripattu martial arts as you have to be back by 5:30 pm. You can watch it in munnar or other places in kerala. Please plan accordingly if watching kalaripattu or kathakali is a must in your kerala visit. I will rate 4. 5 out of 5 for my stay in periyar house.

I stayed with my family, it's located inside periyar wildlife sanctuary, and location is excellent with fantastic ambiance. Outdoor park and games were very good and my kid enjoyed it lot. Food quality is okay but costly. Breakfast and buffet dinner were having variety of dishes, but we're costly. Breakfast was included in my booking. Staff behavior was very good and they were very helpful. Room amenities were average and room had no air-conditioning, even though MMT showed rooms were air-conditioned, when I pointed it, they said they have no AC rooms in whole KTDC Periyar House and that was an error. They can book boat tickets from KTDC Periyar House, and it's very helpful especially during rush season. Overall had a very good stay.

Periya house is truly a jungle lodge. In the middle of the forest, abound with flora and fauna, it's really calm and quiet. The calls of birds and monkeys make it more attractive. Rooms are neat and spick and span. Service to is okay. But you have to secure the door otherwise monkeys will take away your stuff. Food is just okay. But clean and hygienic. They can provide thali meals for lunch instead of ala carte. Boat ride in the periyar lake is also disappointing. The tourists are left with the life jackets and we're not given any instructions. A major boat capsize a few years back hasn't opened the authority's eyes. Actually wearing a life jacket needs coaching. Animal sitings are also very rare.

A really peaceful stay inside the jungle. Away from crowd. Neat and well maintained rooms. Clean bathroom and 24hrs running hot water. Don't expect luxury. Ample parking space. Play area for kids right in the front. There is some open space inside as well and they will provide cricket/badminton gear on request. Monkeys keep roaming around, but mostly they will not bother if you ignore them. I saw many negative comments about food, but think the food was good. Maybe the buffet dinner was bit pricey, but they did not charge for kids so it was fine. If you are staying more than one day in thekkady and plan to go for boating, then i would definitely recommend staying here for at least one day.

We had a one day stay at periyar house. My wife, daughter and her two sons accompanied. As it was the off season, there were hardly any other guests. As the property is located within the tiger reserve, it is a unique experience. It was raining occasionally. We went for a boat ride in the morning. The tickets were booked from periyar house. We could park the car within the premises of aranya nivas, another ktdc property near the boat landing site. Overall the stay had been good. But the property would be even more better with periodic maintenance also in place. A nice place to stay with family or friends with the feel of nature and the forest around you !

We v are a group of 10 and were in the resort on 15th and 16th. One of our family members developed sight fever in the evening and we wanted to take her to hospital. However as per the periyar reserve rules we cannot come in to the forest after 6 pm. So the lobby manager arranged a forest jeep for us to go to the town. The driver of that jeep we also get friendly and patient and ensured that we are fine and safe ask the way. Because of the timely help and assistance from the KTDC Periyar House staff, lobby manager and driver the medication was given at the right time and we were all safe thank you so much to one and all for your care and support

The property is entirely located inside the periyar tiger reserve. The ambience is absolutely wonderful, you can feel the fresh air and serene forest to its best. Housekeeping is excellent, rooms and bathroom are very neat. You will get hot water at all times. Food is quiet tasty and mostly indian cuisine. Thekkady boating point is hardly 1km from the KTDC Periyar House and you can reach there by walking for 10 mins. Ample parking space. The only problem is the menace of monkeys, you have to be careful all the time, windows and doors of rooms and vehicles need to be properly closed and don't provoke them.

Periyar house is located inside the periyar tiger reserve in thekkady. Hence, it is a very calm and quiet place. I visited as a family group with 4 children and 8 adults and had taken 4 rooms. Rooms are very spacious and the weather was also very pleasant. We had porcupine and monkeys frequently visiting the property and staff had indicated that a bear and elephant had also visited the previous night. Food was also great. The most important part is the hospitality of the staff. I liked it very much. They helped us get front row seats on the upper deck of the boat when we went for boating.

This property is excellent for the forest lover, this property is located in the the forest location is excellent, food was good we enjoyed our stay,

Hotel location is excellent something different than normal, it is inside reserved forest, boating at morning awesome, foods were tasty with very good room services. Natural scenery of forest with different birds was mind-blowing.

Ktdc periyar house is located amid-st jungle with almost zero noise pollution. The rooms and toilets are near. We stayed there for a single night along with my family. You can see lot of monkeys roaming in the corridor and need to be little cautious. Do not open the room windows as they will enter easily. You can buy a ticket for boating here and you will surely get the upper deck. Overall stay was really good.

Rooms were good. Property is located inside jungle so it was altogether different experience. Boating tickets also they make available. Food is little expensive but good. Staff was good

Overall experience was good with beautiful nature around. One of the best stays in the middle of the forest with wide range of animal spotting and kind of things.

Periyar house within the periyar tiger sanctuary, it was a unique experience. Monkeys, deers etc will come very close to this resort. Very calm and cool climate. Periyar lake boar ride tickets can book from this KTDC Periyar House. You should contact early with ktdc or otherwise online booking also available. Food is excellent here, but serving is not good. One drawback is here after 5 pm we can't go out. Need to stay within tiger sanctuary. But it is unique experience staying inside the forest.

Good place to stay without pollution and disturbance nice atmosphere good hospitality and maintenance

The property is good and the staffs are also cordial. Only concern is, they are charging rs 40 for 1 ltr of packed water, where the mrp is 15 for kerala govt 1ltr water.
