Poor Stay
Hot water not available. Cleaning was not good. Drinking water facility was not available for night. Geyser/ solar was not working
Average Stay
The place is situated in a decent location, but there are some critical points I feel compelled to highlight for the benefit of other travelers considering a stay here. Firstly, I visited during harsh winter conditions, with temperatures around -10°C, yet there was no heater provided in the room. Despite multiple requests, the management failed to make one available. Moreover, there was no power backup in the hotel, leaving guests to endure the freezing cold without any support. The so-called "hostel" features a common room, but it is poorly equipped, offering no facilities other than basic seating. It felt more like a hotel with no activities or efforts to create a comfortable or engaging environment for guests. Remarkably, this was during the festive season, close to New Year’s, when one would expect at least some form of hospitality or events. The management imposes overly restrictive rules, such as not allowing guests to invite others, eat in their rooms, or even bring food from the hostel itself. There is no food service available during the daytime, making it incredibly inconvenient. This place operates more like a strict school hostel than a welcoming traveler’s hostel. The only positives are a balcony and a small parking area, but these hardly compensate for the lack of basic amenities. Even the bedding was thin and inadequate for such extreme weather conditions. Overall, this establishment needs to seriously reconsider its approach to customer service and hospitality. A complete overhaul of their business model and priorities is necessary if they aim to cater to travelers, especially in such challenging conditions.

Here is a detailed review of la vaca: pros: value for money, close to vashisht temple so you can access the hot sulphur spring bath and jogini falls, amazing view from my hostel room balcony, staff is nice and the place is clean, best if you are travel-ling with family. Cons: wifi is sometimes weak but still better in the common area, check out time is 10 am which is surprisingly very early as many young travelers stay awake till sunrise so it's difficult to checkout by 10, so almost everyone extends their stay by compulsion as they can't get up by 10! but leaving aside the checkout time thing, it was a good experience. The distance between manali downtown and vashisht is i think 5 kms odd, so a little commute is there. So, it's better if you hire a scooty while staying and it's no problem. All in all it's a good place apart from old manali and naggar. So, that's my review!

Worst exp
Worst experience ever in la vaca hostel staff was rude and least bothered to attend the guests. It was mentioned that there is a cafe and it has a great chef but there was no chef. It's better to book vagabond, alt life, zostle.
Not as described,
The stay was a horrible experience. I trekked for nearly 10kms in the sun n arrived at the property with no wi-fi, no hot water( referred to having a solar when the temperature is subzero) no electricity when i arrived. And was asked to move to another room since there was a new booking later at night. Imagine having trekked 10kms and just got a shut eye. The guy wake me up! lost all hope! no cafe also when asked gotta try outside for even a chai!
