Madhuban Sarovar Portico, Mussoorie

Madhuban was taken over by Sarovar Portico in June 2021. We visited the property in third week of November for a long weekend. The Madhuban Sarovar Portico, Mussoorie is still being brought up to Sarovar Portico levels but what they lack in infrastructure, they more than make it up with their warm hospitality. Let me start with the stuff that can be improved upon: 1. The non-terrace rooms are small and stuffy. The bathrooms are tiny and not very well equipped. The serviettes – towels look age old. They can do with some new fluffy white towels. If the body wash has been exhausted, the housekeeping doesn’t refill it until requested. 2. Wi-fi connectivity is a huge issue. In some of the rooms, there is no telephone signal and wi-fi network. 3. The DTH service for the televisions (tiny TVs, by the way) is useless. Apart from a couple news channels, they have nothing in the channel pack (2 and 3 can be very welcome if you are going for a quiet holiday – but if the Madhuban Sarovar Portico, Mussoorie is providing this service, it should be up to the mark) 4. Room service takes time. The property is big, some rooms do not have lift access and hence, foot service can take time. The intercom service was down in our room. So even ordering tea was a pain as the room was quite far from the reception. 5. The property is about 600 meters from the mall road. The walk up to the Madhuban Sarovar Portico, Mussoorie is very steep. There is not shuttle service for pick and drops to the Mall Road. Now the great stuff: 1. The staff! I wish I could name everyone. But I will definitely mention Mr. Siddharth – the manager. He is warm, friendly, understanding, full of great ideas for touristy things. He definitely made our trip worthwhile. The chef – Brij Mohan – went out of his way to serve things not on the menu. His pancakes, pao bhaji, all Indian dishes were great. We had both breakfast and dinner buffets at the Madhuban Sarovar Portico, Mussoorie and we were never disappointed with the spread. The servers, always smiling, taking extra care to ensure you are comfortable and taken care of. Each and every member of the team ensures that you receive the best hospitality! I was super impressed. 2. The terrace rooms. The manager very graciously upgraded our room to a terrace room after our first night. And what a view!! We saw the sunrise from there. You can see snow capped peaks too. A gorgeous view. Sun streaming in during the day. The terrace rooms are big with comfortable bathrooms (with bath tubs). If possible, opt for terrace rooms. The non balcony rooms are no fun. 3. The property. Well maintained, flowers, clean, warm and welcoming. Kudos to the team.

The stay was great! and very memorable. Something that i absolutely loved: 1. Rooms: very spacious and neat and clean. Enough space to work as well. 2. Service: excellent service. They used to call every day to ask if we ate our breakfast/ lunch / dinner or if we would like to eat anything. The staff also recommended a sightseeing places, etc. 3. Cab: they gave us a number of a taxi person and that made our trip very enjoyable. The travel person was very polite and friendly and extremely service oriented. 4. Location: this goes in both pros and cons. Since it is at a distance from mall road, it was actually silent and peaceful. 5. Strong wi-fi: we could do our work smoothly with no interruption. Things i felt just “okay” about: 1. Location: since it is more than half a km from mall road, we need some form of transport to get there. And it costs 300 one way. The road didn’t seem pedestrian friendly either therefore we did not deem it wise to walk it. 2. The entrance: the entrance is very steep and maybe a hassle for senior citizens to walk up. Vehicle needed. 3. Food variety: i felt they served pretty basic fare. Food was fine. 4. View: view was okay, not exceptional. Overall great experience. And definitely recommend if you need to work while on your vacation!

Had a pleasant stay at the recently opened property. Hotel is in close proximity of the mall road and library chowk is about 500m away. Hotel doesn't offer pick and drop till mall road but that is fine if guests don't mind a little walk. Staff is extremely polite and the Madhuban Sarovar Portico, Mussoorie manager mr. Sharma was very responsive, attentive and approachable. Food was good and had a nice breakfast, not very lavish but good enough for a decent meal. Rooms are of decent size. We had booked valley view rooms which has attached balcony/terrace and offers good view of the hills and valleys after stepping out of the room. House keeping needs to be streamlined a bit as the room wasn't cleaned till late noon despite asking for it in the morning, but that is not a major problem. All in all had a very good experience with 2 night stay, would definitely recommend for stay again.

Self & wife had a most comfortable stay for three nights. This place is ideally located just 500 mtrs from the mall road. The complete staff was found to be very welcoming, polite and friendly. Special mention and credit for such a hospitable staff goes to the front manager abhinay who was always ready to the suggestions for improvements in any field and found to be always positive to except our ideas and suggestions. The best part was the food in the restaurant. Our compliment to the chef for making such sumptuous with variety of food. The rooms were spacious with huge common balcony where we sat and enjoyed the view of the hills. Would love to visit this lovely place again.

the stay was extremely comfortable. the staff was very helpful and service was excellent. the location is near the mall road and also isolated at the same time. breakfast buffet served had very good light food and dinner had a variety of cuisines always. the views from each room and point of the Madhuban Sarovar Portico, Mussoorie are spectacular. the room was hygienic and clean and the three of us stayed in one room very comfortably. we will definitely recommend sarovar to all our family and friends. couldn’t have asked for a better stay. thanks sarovar 👍. the breakfast buffet could have a bit more variety otherwise its perfect. the rooms are also very warm and cosy

The Madhuban Sarovar Portico, Mussoorie is good with comfortable rooms. We booked a no balcony no view room, but the Madhuban Sarovar Portico, Mussoorie upgraded us to a balcony room with view. The breakfast spread was nice. The dinner was also delicious. The only drawback of the Madhuban Sarovar Portico, Mussoorie is the distance from the mall road. If you are traveling with senior citizens or kids, this might be an issue. It is around 10-15 mins walk from the mall. Also, once you reach mall road, you still have a considerable distance to cover if you want to visit good cafes or restaurants on the mall road, as they are on the other end of the mall.

Property location is very convenient on mall road. Morning walk to company garden from Madhuban Sarovar Portico, Mussoorie is best experience. Property is well maintained & hospitality of staff is vibrant. Map fooding was a good option as restaurant had well curated menu and licious taste. This Madhuban Sarovar Portico, Mussoorie have good parking space & open area to walk around. Room was well maintained but room size was small & bit disappointing for stay of 3 adults with extra bed. As i have been using sarovar properties in dehradun ranchi raipur siliguri with ample room size. Otherwise it was good experience to be in this property

The location is not bad - it’s a 10 min walk from liberty chowk which is the starting point of the mall road. The food - was really good. Except for the fact that they can add a little more variety to their morning buffet menu - the food and the help were amazing, specially rahul and sundar in the restaurant and the manager of the property were spot on help. The rooms were clean. And the property is safe. The staff is very accommodating and helpful and really polite. I’d definitely recommend the stay.

They had clean rooms and i took valley view room. The balconies are shared and not personal. A little issue of monkeys in the morning. Hospitality was 5/5. I would love to come again

overall a great experience... staff was very courteous food is great location is outstanding.. overall a 5 star ⭐experience. although the place is undergoing maintenance right now due to change in ownership but the team of Madhuban Sarovar Portico, Mussoorie try the level best to give the best experience..booked the Madhuban Sarovar Portico, Mussoorie alongwith dinner included and the same was a great decision... chef is great
