The stay at Hotel Mayur was good. The first impression was that it is clean – the floor of the corridor and in the room, and white, spotless tiles in the bathroom. Most importantly, the linen/bed sheets were clean, without any spots or holes. The walls in some rooms look somewhat used and could need painting / whitewashing. Location is quite central (Shastri Chowk), and I don't think there is any budget Mayur Hotel in that area which would be a match to Hotel Mayur. There is no restaurant in the Hotel (as was mentioned on the website), but just downstairs, on the ground floor, there are tea stalls, a small restaurant, and a sweets shop which also has fresh moong dal halwa, carrot halwa, and a few snacks like samosa, pakora, some dal, etc. Also a few other shops are also there, like computer & mobile shop, etc. If there is any issue with the room or bathroom, the Manager addresses it straight away and would take great care that all your needs are taken care of. The Receptionist I did not find too inspiring, but the actual Staff would come within minutes to take care of mal-functioning taps and like that. Overall, if I come to Gorakhpur the next time, I would stay again at Hotel Mayur without any hesitation.
