Excellent and adventurous but many rooms for improvement
Sourav Maity
Firstly the property is very very remote so please make sure if you are okay with that. You might not get mobile networks properly also might not get food options except whatever they are providing. Take necessary medicines with you beforehand. Road to reach the Oland Plantation | Rooms & Kitchen is really very poor for last 5 KMs around. Might be intentional to give you the feel of secluded place but this must be improved. Not a good experience to reach there by car at 7 PM night. My suggestion is to reach before sunset at least. Map location is perfect even though sometimes on the way you might feel there is no chance of anything could be ahead. And the most important thing is if you have infants or aged parents with you, you should either avoid the place or you must book estate house rooms as both pepper house and Hornbill might be difficult to reach. Now coming to the good part, you will definitely feel very fresh and thrilled here if you are coming From any polluted and traffic packed City. Best time to go is From july to Nov so that you can enjoy the waterfall also which we missed due to dried out as monsoon is not yet started properly. Staffs are courteous and helpful though definitely outnumbered. If you are lucky, you might also See some wild animals as well. Definitely one time go at least. And don't use if you just want a place to stay at night. If you are booking it, my suggestion would be plan a full day From check in to check out.
Excellent location, but not a good booking experience

The plantation was set in a beautiful location, facing a range of the nilgiri mountains. Fantastic views. Our host, sam, his wife, and his team were superb hosts. Seam took us on bird watching walks each morning, and we were richer in our experience of the land by the end of the trip. Advice on the route going there or returning, please ask seam to send you a gps link, and ask locals enroute. It is quite a distance form either ooty or coonoor towns so important to get your bearings right. The worst part of our travel was the booking. The room was booked. We paid in full in advance. We called the plantation a day before our trip and were told that there was no booking reflecting in their system. After we sent them screenshots and details by whatsapp, they said they would hold the room for us. What if we had not called them? they said they would have allotted the room to someone else! the booking did not reflect till we left the property! the other challenge we faced was connectivity issues. Wifi is offered only for some emergency, so you need to carry your dongle, etc. However, air-tel has no or very poor connectivity, so get a jio or vodafone connection if possible before travel-ling there. The rooms could do with some maintenance, and we hope they fix it before our next trip. On the whole, a lovely place. We would definitely like to stay at o land plantation again.
Oland is special
ABHINAV RAO
Its a gem of a place, hidden in plain sight. Here are some tips to help you make a decision the location is great, if you want to get away from the usual tourist activity. 24 kms From Coonoor Once you turn From the Mettupalayam Coonoor road towards Colacomby the last 20 km of the drive is beautiful with hardly any traffic and road conditions are generally good. The staff are courteous and caring Moiuddin and Venkatesh are doing a good job. The food feels like its home cooked. The room was clean and well laid out (we stayed at the jack fruit room in the Hornbill house. The Hornbill house is isolated and a bit of a walk From the estate house, if you want privacy then this is place to be. If you don't want to walk too much then pepper house and the estate house are better options. PS we saw elephants, bison indian gaur, wild boar, plenty of birds and monkeys From our balcony. Its a Plantation stay so please be warned this is no luxury Oland Plantation | Rooms & Kitchen and there aren't a ton of things to do or see. Except if you like walking around.
A wonderful trip, good food and good care by staff

O'land Plantation is bang at the end of the road, literally, and gives the sense of being in the forest, which it is. Thus it is ideal for people with such liking. I and my wife spend two nights at the Estate Room and had a rollicking peaceful time. The chirping of the birds is amazing, as is the view all day around. The staff is very cooperative and the food is very tasty with multiple choices available in each meal. We landed up on a day when it had rained the previous night. The water system is fed from a running stream, which gets extremely muddy after the rain. Their filtration system is rudimentary. A three tank desalting / filtering mechanism is probably a solution they need. Water was too muddy to have a Bath. A tea maker was also missing, which is otherwise very common facility these days. Also it is better to carry a good supply of mineral water bottles and other eats, as there is no shop / market anywhere nearby. Overall a wonderful experience in the wild. Highly recommended.
Amazing stay

We stayed in the estate house room for 3 days and 2 nights. Well maintained and good facilities. Food was good not many options on the menu though. This is a property literally in the abode of nature and few wild animals were being spotted almost daily such as the bison and bear. One should be careful while venturing out alone as a leopard also keeps roaming there and has been spotted by the locals and resort guys too. There is an amazingly beautiful waterfall adjacent to the stay in the jungle. Overall an excellent stay for those who want to escape the hustle bustle and away from city. A bit challenging to reach this resort as its a bit far away from main coonoor area. Not recommended for elderly pal as it involved climbing stairs for food for those in pepper house and horn bill. Mohiuddin the caretaker of the resort is a humble and very courteous person. Rest of the staff was also co-operative. Will definitely visit again. Amazing stay and cost property in between tea plantation.
Nature at its best!
Nandan Pm
Anyone who would love scenery and would prefer serneity must stay at this place. The place is extremely good. WHen we went to stay here, there was mist and the there was enugh water in the waterfall. Go in the rainy season. If you are lucky enough, you get to see some wild animals inside the estate as well :) We stayed at the hornbill house and it was really good. Best part is, we get a view of the waterfall right from our bedroom. It is completely natural and. The approach is quite bad and it is a hilly terrain. Would recommend a vehicle with good ground clearance for a hassle free drive. Do come along with lots of people as it gets pretty boring after a day or 2 if its just a couple. Food is decent and the prople there are very hospitable. However, I didn't like that fact that the house didn't have curtains except in the bedroom. There arent any people moving around as it is secluded but a couple would still prefer privacy.
Ideal get away to drown in nature BN

Ideal get away to drown in nature. Horn bill, the room we stayed is a 2 bedroom villa. That's the house I want to live in. Rustic, simple and aesthetic. Every room is planned around the view it provides. The staff, Moideen and his boys stretch themselves to leave no guest unhappy. Not easy given the terrain and the distance from town. Food is simple and tasty, served hot with a smile. Not suitable for senior citizens and babies unless you are staying in one of the rooms in the main block. Some effort taken to provide a walking path to Horn bill can make the experience more relaxed. I slipped on wet grass. The last 1 km stretch of access road is in a bad condition. We were told that it will be fixed as soon as the rain stops in a few months. The place is best accessed from Mettupalayam or coonoor directly. I have resolved to go back for a longer stay.
Good experience. But please do fix the drawbacks

What I liked, 1. Location - very pleasant & beautiful scenery, best place for people who would like to take a break from busy city life 2. Climate - cool & pleasant 3. Food - delicious & tastes like home food, stomach friendly too 4. Service - very impressive service especially by Mr. Mohideen (Manager) & Mr. Suresh (Driver) Drawbacks, No Mobile phone signal (especially vodafone) 2. No internet connection 3. Lousy hot water, water was also slightly muddy 4. The tap in the bathroom fell off while using it 5. Location - poor accessibility, literally no road when nearing the plantation 6. No lights outside the room (felt little creepy) which is very essential during night times 7. No dish/cable connection to the TV in the room 8. No ATMs nearby (you have to travel till Conoor for ATM which is roughly 24 kms away from the plantation)
Wonderful stay
Seetharaman
You may not get even a single bar on your phone at most places on this plantation (which is always welcome) and you get spectacular views from pretty much anywhere. If you are lucky, you might spot elephants, foxes and horn-bills. The food is as comforting - some really nice banana flower riyal and dry pepper chicken - as the staff are warm. The place is located at a remote location and Coonoor and Ooty are both an hour away, which is a blessing. Our stay was made better by wonderful, meandering conversations with the owner who happened to be there.

The bliss we feel with nature was perfect. Awesome experience for going alone.
It was an awesome experience.
Supriya
It was an awesome experience. Beautiful and tranquil place. Food is excellent. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Must for people who love to be in midst of nature. Drawback- about 2kms of road to the plantation is very bad, a Jeep would be best to commute to that place.

Each room has an excellent view. The interiors of the room are extremely tasteful. It is like you are transported to a whole new world. The place is definitely remote. So the plans only should be to visit the plantation, walk along the trails and relax. Make sure to carry along some food since there are no shops except for the meals the cook serves, which are quite good.
Tranquillity in air, environment & food
Vikas Maurya
The place is just perfect for a calm and tranquil weecation. Rooms are rustic and have a modern touch. Facilities were at its best. Hot water, geyser, boon fire, etc. Etc. The resort is submerged into tall trees and tea plantation; and famous blue mountains are at your sight. The best part was their chef. He cooks everything and anything for you.
Excellent

Stay was very nice…staff were very helpful….
Excellent place inside the tea estate
Ritesh Ranjan
It was a great experience to visit this place. It is located a bit far from Coonoor and last 800 meters road to O'land Plantation is in very bad condition. But in spite of that, it is a very nice place to relax and get rid of your tiredness from busy life. Rooms are also very good as well as bathrooms. Food provided by them was very good and they generally give quite a few options in the food. The service by them is really excellent and the always took care of us. This place also has a waterfall but unfortunately it is dry when we visited due to drought.
A beautiful stay in total greenery
Jagat Nahata
If u like greenery and love total disconnect from concrete city life and not looking for 5 start material amenities. Then o land plantation is the right one for you.
Food and the lovely courteous staff
Rini Sen
It is remote, cut off from the world, hardly any Mobile network and no internet. But the stay was amazing nonetheless. Thanks to the staff and the lovely calm quiet environment. Its a must visit if you can drive through the rough patches that lead to the plantation.
