My stay at Fortune in Bhubaneswar was comfortable, but the services offered were not up to the mark compared to expectations. The biggest disappointment was with the restaurant team, who seemed unable to properly manage the customers. The buffet dinner charges were not clearly communicated — even the staff were confused about the pricing. On the official weblink, the prices were shown differently, but at the hotel, we were charged on the higher side without proper clarification. It was not clearly mentioned whether the charge of ₹1299 was per person or per room, which caused unnecessary confusion.
Additionally, the buffet served mostly Bengali cuisine due to the festival. While I respect cultural celebrations, for the amount charged, it would have been better to offer variety, including North Indian or South Indian options, especially when guests are paying a premium. In fact, with the same amount, we could have easily ordered a satisfying North or South Indian meal from the menu.
Overall, while the stay itself was fine, the dining experience and lack of clarity in communication left a negative impression. Better transparency in pricing and improved management by the restaurant team would make a big difference for future guests. 5
