I recently stayed at Hotel Jalsa Retreat in Bhopal, and while the property itself is impressive—with a great location, beautiful ambience, and well-maintained surroundings—the overall experience was significantly let down by poor service quality.
Upon arrival, despite having pre-booked a suite room, we were initially allotted a standard deluxe room. After pointing out the discrepancy, the staff did rectify the error, but the suite we were moved to had a non-functional jacuzzi—the water was yellow, unclean, and clearly not maintained. After nearly 2 hours of follow-up, we were shifted again, only to face the same issue in the new room. Another hour went by before the staff finally cleaned and prepared the jacuzzi properly.
In total, over 4 hours were lost dealing with room changes and maintenance issues, which severely disrupted our check-in experience. To make matters worse, when we requested a 2-hour late checkout (considering the delay caused entirely by hotel mismanagement), the request was denied rudely, without any apology or acknowledgment of the inconvenience caused.
While the infrastructure and location deserve praise, the lack of professionalism, mismanagement, and poor guest handling left a lot to be desired. Unfortunately, unless service standards improve, I would be hesitant to recommend this hotel for a smooth and relaxing stay.
