The property looks just like it does in the photos, but you will not get a good room at the price shown online. I. Even then, it wasn’t at all clean.
The worst part was the behaviour of a very young staff member working there. I have never seen anyone behave like this in Kerala — it was that bad.
An elderly, poor shikara boatman had brought me to this hotel room. He only asked for ₹100 for it, and I gladly agreed. There’s no proper path to walk to the hotel. While we were walking, this young staff boy came up behind us and chased the old man away, telling me to get into the boat instead — just for a mere ₹100. I refused.
During the journey I had already arranged with the poor boatman for a one-hour shikara safari. At check-in, I told the old man to wait while I went with the hotel staff. Then there was bargaining. The boy didn’t know a word of English. I typed in Hindi on Google Translate but he couldn’t read that either. That’s not his fault; maybe he never had a chance to learn. But the guts to chase away an old man…
I ended up paying the poor old boatman more than I had agreed for the one-hour safari. Tomorrow, I too could end up old and helpless, forced to work. Shouldn’t we have compassion and kindness?
The boy is very hot-tempered. Ironically, when I checked out and returned, it was he himself who ferried me across in the boat, and I gave him ₹100. There was no dispute that time.
So, do you really want to go to an establishment that employs such people? Think about it.
