The property once had an undeniable old-world charm, but it has clearly lost its sheen and now feels tired and in need of a major overhaul. While the historical significance of the place and the warmth of its staff still stand out, much of the rest falls short of expectations.
The rooms are dark and dingy in parts, with several areas showing signs of neglect. There are occasional moments of delight — like waking up one morning to a Santoor player who filled the air with magic — but those are rare highlights in an otherwise disappointing stay.
The check-in experience sets the tone: a man seated behind a makeshift desk draped with a shiny cloth hardly inspires confidence. The bellboy’s torn shirt and the same staff members working from morning till late night reflect stretched resources and poor management. While the staff remained polite, smiling, and genuinely helpful, their fatigue was evident.
On the positive side, the restaurant food is decent, and the outdoor spaces provide a nice setting for groups to sit and chat. The central location is also convenient — most tourist spots in Jodhpur are just 10–20 minutes away.
I’d recommend this property only to those traveling in large groups or looking for an average, budget-friendly stay in the city center. However, if you’re seeking a taste of Jodhpur’s famed hospitality and luxury, this is not the place. With proper refurbishment and a larger, well-rested team, the property could reclaim some of its former glory.
