Ballard Bungalow

Ballard bungalow is a charming property located very close to places like princess street, burgher street, etc. So a lot of the attractions around are just a walk away. The rooms are very spacious with huge beds which give you all the space you need. We took the a/c deluxe rooms which also had a lovely balcony area with comfortable seating to enjoy the evening breeze. There is not much staff on the property so do prepare to have to adjust a bit if things are busy. We had to ask for some amenities like toilet paper, mosquito repellent, towels, etc. But those were promptly provided so no complaints there. We booked 3 rooms out of which one had an ac that wasn't working properly but the owner provided a portable fan for us to sleep fairly comfortably at night. The owner/manager is super helpful and will try and accommodate any requests you have. The kitchen on the premises had delicious smells wafting up to our room. We hope to try whatever was cooking on our next visit!

Our time at Fort Kochi was made sweeter with out stay in Ballard Bungalow, a dutch style Homestay comprises of 6-7 rooms. A nice place to stay with spacious rooms, both ac and non ac rooms are available and it is very close to the boat jetty where both passenger ferry and the one which can carry vehicles are available for commutation. There is no 24/7 kitchen except for some homely food for the breakfast being served but there are lot of food joints Around the place to enjoy variety of dishes. The caretaker was so courteous and he was able to guide us to spend our days usefully in Fort Kochi, Ernakulam, Komarakkom (houseboat trip) etc. A peaceful home stay near the Fort Kochi Beach, not crowded and easy access to boat ferries made it a positive stay for us.

Its just bang opposite Aspinwall house which suited us just fine as we had come to Fort Kochi to visit Biennale. The room is very spacious. And so is the bathroom. Rooms are on first floor and ground floor. There is a lovely mango tree in the courtyard and a beautiful wall mural which I really liked. They do serve tea/coffee and can. Order lunch/dinner from nearby restaurants if one wants. Breakfast is decent enough. There is no room service as this is really more of a guest house. You should bring your own toiletries though they provide towels, shampoo and soap sachet and kettle with coffee sachets in the room. Markose, the main. Manager is a very nice guy and very helpful. When has Around one is at ease.

One of the best stays with had, old traditional setup which was once a monastery bung-law covert-ed to home stay, you have the caretaker cum owner marcos who is ever ready to ensure that all your needs are taken care of at all times, our rooms were. Very well maintained bathrooms clean, bed linens were neat and clean. Girlee chechi (sister) made us taste the most tasty traditional kerala delicacies with home made taste. Freshly prepared and served with love, marcos had a foreign trip he ensure we had babu. And kathie who made sure we were at ease. We loved the stay. Ample parking and location is very close to the fort kochi beach and the epicenter of fort kochi, with some great food joints around

The location is very near the ferry and walking distance from the Chinese nets, the market and a host of eateries. The person managing the Ballard Bungalow Markos is a very nice person who will go out of the way to accommodate your requests. The other staff too is really nice. The room was clean and very large with period furniture. The Ballard Bungalow only serves breakfast and Markos will try to accommodate your every breakfast request. They will arrange for backwater cruise and help you in all your transportation. Over all, I had a very pleasant stay

A value for money Ballard Bungalow. Do not look very impressive from outside. But the rooms and toilets are very clean. Crisp white linen. They don't have a restaurant. But, for breakfast they serve excellent local food. The three AC deluxe rooms do not have a balcony, but they have a common area which is just right for family get togethers. The three suit rooms are just like the other rooms, but they have balconies and easy chairs. Location is right in the heart of fort cochin. Lot of good restaurants nearby(from fancy to down to earth)

The location of the Ballard Bungalow is very apt. All the major tourist attractions like the MG beach, chinese fishing nets are in walking distance from the Ballard Bungalow. The Ballard Bungalow was actually a 200 year old fort converted to Ballard Bungalow. The rooms are very well maintained and the bathroom is huge with a bathtub. Each room has a balcony where you can chill at night. The guys maintaining the Ballard Bungalow are good to talk with, they helped us with our planning. Will visit the place again.

We had a comfortable one night stay at the Ballard Bungalow. The Ballard Bungalow is located centrally in Fort Kochi. An old Dutch bungalow converted into a heritage Ballard Bungalow. Not much in terms of service but more than makes up for it by reason of location and the constant endeavour of the manager to help you in every possible way. He helped us with a number of pointers for the rest of our Kerala stay. The Ballard Bungalow doesn't have dining facilities but there are a number of good eateries near by.

Amazing Ballard Bungalow. Old bungalow converted into a Ballard Bungalow with great services. Rooms have comfortable poster beds, wooden flooring and some even had a bath tub while others have a balcony. They serve great Kerala veg breakfast like Puttu Kadale, Appam and Stew. Excellent price. Also, their property will soon be part of a movie, so the quality is very high. Highly recommended. Location is also great. Special thanks to Markose. Very friendly and knowledgeable.

I cannot tell you because the Ballard Bungalow was fully booked and I could not get a room.

Excellent service, very helpful, a good place to stay when in Kochi

Main highlight is the traditional classy room decor. Though the bathroom looks normal we had all the facilities. Breakfast provided was a choice but the taste was so nice. The location is great. We had a very relaxed stay. We spent most of the time inside room just because the stay was so relaxing. The wooden panels and mirrors on the bed, the easy chairs, old furniture all adds the beauty of the bungalow.

Excellent location just opposite to Aspinwall house. Old heritage building well maintained. They served good breakfast. Very friendly people. I will refer this place to my friends too. Will definitely come back.

Old traditional rooms. Big size beds. Old wooden floorings and lights. Location was super walkable distance to beach ferry. Well maintained the ambience and furniture of old model jew street. Worth of money.

Just a few minutes walking can take you to the prime places, like: Kerala Kathakali Center, Kashi Art Cafe, Vasco Da Gama church, Santa Cruz Cathedral Basilica and fort Kochio Beach Museum on one side. Also just in 5 minutes walk on other side you can see the Chinese fishing nets. Although when I reached Kochi on 13 oct, 2016, there was a strike which only gave me scope to visit Kerala Kathakali Center. Thanks to the art lovers...

Nice spacious and neat rooms. Friendly hospitality by the Ballard Bungalow management. Easily accessible to various parts of Fort Kochi. I am very much impressed by the antique beauty of the accommodation. Be it the furnishing, flooring or ceiling, there is something more mesmerizing in the property. Loved their Breakfast - Appam with veg stew.

It was a never before experience for me to have stayed in a heritage Ballard Bungalow. The room, service, ambience, comfort, location - everything was beyond my imagination. Mr. Marcos at the reception desk was simply superb

I like the Ballard Bungalow as while all the staff were extremely friendly and professional, they in now way in your face the whole time. I felt reassured that if I needed something it would be provided which made for an extremely relaxing stay.

When we reached, we were told that our desired room was not available, as we had booked just 6 hours before we reached. However, Marcos was very helpful & courteous and arranged an alternate room quickly. The room was large and bed big & comfortable. For breakfast he arranged for idlis which we wanted.
