Kodai Retreat

Kodai Retreat is a very good place to stay in Kodaikanal. It is conveniently located (with in 3-4 kms) near popular tourist destinations like Kodai Lake, Bear Shola Water Falls, Bryant Park, Coaker Walk etc. The property is very well maintained with compound wall and ample car parking. Deluxe room had a double bed with neat bed sheets n pillows, quilt, a small round wooden table and cushioned chairs, wardrobe with many compartments and full size mirror, TV with remote and cable connection, telephone, Plastic tray and pair of glasses and Wash basin. Bathroom was also kept very neat with air fresheners and enough hot water supply. It would be unfair if dont mention about the staff of Kodai retreat for doing a wonderful job in making it a great place to be. They are all very friendly, enthusiastic and ready to help guests all the time, especially Mr. Deepak, the Manager. Mr. Daniel was really helpful in arranging the permission (RTO and Forest) to go to Berijam Lake. Breakfast and Dinner which are served (at the room) on prior order was also very tasty and reasonably priced. A comfortable place in all sense worth every rupee you spend. I truly enjoyed my stay there and would surely be staying at Kodai Retreat the next time I visit Kodaikanal.

Location: A pretty decent location if you have your own vehicle, it is a short drive away from downtown (lake and shopping areas). Access road is narrow/steep (and dark in the night) but this is expected of any road other than main roads in a hill station. Secluded and (a few minutes walk) away from main road, it's just the right place unless your requirement is to stay in downtown. Service: Very good. They make all efforts to please the guests and it is visible. The best service I have seen in a long time. Room: Decent/clean room. Facilities: On-site parking is available. 24X7 hot water. Room-service is good though you have to order several hours in advance (exception is tea/coffee which is available at a short notice). They don't have an on-site restaurant, so room-service is the only way you get food here. Value for money: Yes, if you are okay with a no-frills stay experience with all basics taken care of.

The Kodai Retreat is a bit off the town but it's quiet and relaxing. Rooms are simple, large and clean. I had a small balcony as well. The Kodai Retreat staff is very helpful and sweet. What I liked the most is their ability to 'arrange' everything for you: from hot water to day trips. They were very nice people and I had a pleasant stay. Since I was traveling alone, they also made sure I was safe and I really appreciated their efforts and also their kindness as they offered me to use the room for refreshment after checking out so that I could relax before taking my bus. I recommend this place for a week-end trip, it's not very expensive and you can rely on the manager and staff members. Internet in the lobby is also an assess.

Really had a good experience. If you are planning for bonfire here, you have to inform and book in advance. We dint know that and we reached there with a expectation that they will arrange the bonfire for us if we ask then and there because normally Kodai Retreats will have this ready. But we were lucky and the owner also was so kind, after talking with him somehow he arranged and provides us bonfire and dint spoil our vacation. And for Dinner and breakfast also you have to order very early (4 pm is the time for ordering dinner which is very unusual in Kodai Retreats). For that part the owner need to work on it. Otherwise the service is really good and the rooms are also pretty good.

Like the title this Kodai Retreat is economy and useful, nothing too much to expect out of it. Spotting it and finding the way into it can be a mess. Parking was little harder for us, but they managed to provide us park near our room. Its located in a uneven level of training their fault). Its easy very near to lake and Coaker's walk. Its little off from road, so its calm and quite around it. And may be you don't find comfortable amount of options in menu. Kodai is an expensive place with awful food and fruits. Make sure to be choosy while buying anything.

Though the Kodai Retreat cannot be described as a premium one, yet the service provided at the Kodai Retreat for the amount we paid was more than expected, even though we booked for a 2 Bed Room accommodation, they provided us a 3 bed room accommodation without any additional charges. The staff working at the Kodai Retreat were very hospitable and welcoming. One of the staff came all the way to the lake to fetch us as we were struggling our way to find the Kodai Retreat. Over all our experience was very nice and we would cherish it for a long time.

This Kodai Retreat is located around 1. 5 kms from Kodaikanal lake. The route is not suitable for walking during night time. The Kodai Retreat is a bit away from the main road and in a secluded property, ideal if you are going as a group. Not very ideal for a romantic stay. The room was pretty neat and the facilities were average. There was a geyser in the bathroom, so no problem for hot water. Breakfast menu was limited to idli, pongs and coffee/tea, food was OK and not expensive. Overall value for money.

Should specifically mention the service that I have got here. Kali the service boy was excellent, he was there everywhere whenever we have a request, whether to change the napkin, to get a bottle of milk, hot water, you name it, Kali was there. Food was too good. Homemade food at an affordable rate. I have suggested to resort people on one feedback to have a proper sign board. Resort is very close to lake (2 km), a home like atmosphere. We got a good discount from makemytrip.

We booked a deluxe room for three people. Room was clean. Hot water was available 24hrs. We had a great time at Kodai Retreat.

We went there for New Year 2016 and it was a good stay. Services were good. Camp fire was arranged. Complimentary homemade breakfast was provided. Since, it was near to the lake it was very easy for us to shopping and to reach the Kodai Retreats. Overall, it was a pleasant stay.

The Kodai Retreat was in a very quite location but easily accessible from the Main Road. The rooms were pretty neat, and was value for money. I paid around 2k for a room of 2. We were a group of 10 friends, although we even saw 2 - 3 families and 1 or 22 couples staying here ... What I wanted to say is its safe too. In all I would give a thumbs up for this place.

We have stayed 3 nights, Hotel is good and in very calm area. Very friendly & helpful staff. Value for money. Manager Mr. Pradeep gave extra time for check out. Room attender Mr. Azarudeen is very polite and friendly.

Hotel location finding was very difficult, also picture of Kodai Retreat shown on website, they given room on other side building maybe own by them, just away from main website building, need their own restaurant as for lunch or dinner need to go lot of distance from Kodai Retreat.

The manager and other service staff were very welcoming. The room was clean, comfortable, spacious, and also with a view. The food was cheap but delicious. The stay was worth every moment. Highly recommended.

Best for the money and nice ambiance. Good parking space but one small complaint no fire camp facility. So all together it was good. But only thing lacked was the Wi-fI and bonfire again I would specify. Other than that. Everything was Beautiful and very good place to stay.

Very good budget place to stay in Kodaikanal. Plus proper space for parking of vehicles. Hotel staff also very good and quick in response. Rooms are neat, clean and well maintained. Loved the place.

It was nice to stay in Kodai Retreat during the trip to Kodaikanal. The staff were very supportive and helping. Guided the full tour. Though the rooms are not very great but its worth the money (we got a very good deal from MMT). I would definitely recommend for budget stays.

It is 1. 5km from lake. Cab and food facilities available. Foods are delivered to room itself. No restaurants available. Good service by the staff. Walkable distance to lake. It is situated near kodai firestation.
