Heritage site, excellent stay. It is like Taj Mahal Palace hotel Mumbai in Howrah. Great stay, courteous staff, clean rooms, well maintained almost 200 years old heritage building.

The Howrah Hotel — A Place You Must Absolutely Avoid My stay at The Howrah Hotel was nothing short of a nightmare. Consider this a serious warning before you even think about booking. The hotel is located right between a fish market and a sabji mandi, and the surroundings are as filthy and chaotic as you’d imagine. Before you even step inside, the stench and dirt set the tone for what awaits you. The hotel itself is unprofessional, poorly managed, and shockingly outdated. The front office still operates with a 1990s-style manual check-in, as if modern hospitality never reached their building. Nothing about their system shows reliability or respect for a guest’s time. Their so-called “complimentary breakfast” is a joke. You are allowed only one single item, and yes — even TEA is charged separately during breakfast. The restaurant staff are cold, disinterested and behave as though customers are inconveniences, not guests. To make it worse, the food is painfully ordinary and loaded with salt — absolutely not worth what they charge. If you value basic hygiene and comfort, let me be blunt: you will not find it here. There is no geyser in the bathrooms. Instead, guests are supplied hot water in old, rusty steel buckets with visible junk sitting at the bottom. The bathrooms are poorly maintained and clearly not cleaned properly. The only reason they are remotely usable is because a single staff member, Rajesh, works overtime and tries to clean up what the hotel neglects. One hardworking employee cannot compensate for a hotel’s complete lack of standards. A handful of service staff try to be helpful, but a sinking ship cannot be saved by a few good people. The management, systems here are broken. The Howrah Hotel needs a complete overhaul or a shutdown, not guests. --- ❌ Final Verdict: Do NOT Stay at The Howrah Hotel Save your money, your health, and your peace of mind. I booked for 1 day stay(Delux room) . Room was found very neat and clean. Everything was found excellent. Hotel staff behavior was very soft and helpful. Hotel given complimentary breakfast, even it was not in booking term & condition. Finally my experience was very positive, also it is located just 10 minutes of walking distance.

Behaviour is ok but room condition is not okay, bathroom condition are very worst, electricity and foods are also very worst,order a food delivery of is different...try to solve these things.

room was not available with geysur for hot water ... bathroom was inferior quality where no such arrangement for.siting during bathing

A word of appreciation for the most helpful front desk staff. There were four in the evening shift and two in the morning shift. They were so helpful. The security and other staff were very courteous. A word of mention regarding ms.soumitra at the restaurant. Was very helpful with regard to selection of food.

Very bad behaviour of staff. Everyone is asking for tips everytime. Room was in worst condition totally unhygienic. Bathroom was dirty and warm water was unavailable.

Because it is an old property that's why it has old facilities, just like Hot water facilities in bathroom was not available, food was Good, Service are good but it is required some improvement. Best thig of this property is that it near to Howrah Railway Station.

The staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms clean. But surrounding area around the hotel is dirty and overcrowded. Also no tea or coffee provided with complimentary breakfast. It has to be bought seperate.

The experience was pathetic and the room firstly provided - the AC was not working, than second room was provided wherein there were few insects and cockroach and third room was ok ok. There was not having hot water in the room though we have taken premium rooms. In short the experience was poor.

The place is unclean, overpriced and the staff behaviour is unprofessional and rude. Overall, the place smells like an urinal beside a fish market. It's one of the worst hotels I have been to. The management is failing with distinction.

room was not good very small, just for sale it's deluxe it's below average very old building, not maintained properly, felt like vomiting in washroom

The room was not clean. The room service staff checked the mini fridge was spilled with puddings but didn’t bothered to clean it. The bathroom was not functioning. The bucket and mug was dirty and broken. For the complimentary water bottle and breakfast, you have to ask for coupons at the reception everyday because they give coupons one day at a time. They have a set of rooms only for MMT booking. I guess they keep the worst for MMT

Average stay. Bathrooms and AC are not good in the junior suit category of rooms. Location is the advantage. Interesting property of the colonial era. Food is good.
