Sand River

The location is definitely in a serene atmosphere 2 to 3 cottages in the middle of a tea estate. Food seems to be expensive as there is no other option. Need to take a jeep for the last 6 km as the roads are terribly bad. They should take 6 months to 1 year to construct that part of the road. Being said, the road from the downhill to highwayis hospital is awesome.

Best place to spend the vacation. Excellent location. Free from the outside world. No phone signal, just nature.

Pros :Location was excellent. Bungalows in the middle of tea estates. You can locate wild animals in the slope. Enjoy mist passing over the valley unknown birds chirping and streams running down. Service was good. Cons: Accessibility. SUV or four wheel drives can only reach the bungalows through rock roads. Vehicles available for one-way trip. For sightseeing they will charge per trip. Breakfast complimentary but lunch per adult. Extra bed costs certain amount.

Food was okay but costly, no other choice, no WiFi, no signal for communication, in approachable Road. Ambiance is okay.

Best place to stay in Megamalai. Food and service was fantastic. If you are staying for 2 night, skip 2nd day's Lunch. It will become heavy as there are no much activity to do if it's raining. Buffet cost good. I am happy that they did not charge for my 6 year old baby girl.

Megahamalai .. This place is mostly owned by wood briar group/ tea India estates, plenty of private roads, which is only accessible for in-house guests. Very quiet, cool place. They have a small stream, like a miniature falls, where one can Bath in absolute privacy, a breathtaking view point, nice locations to extract maximum out of your, Roads are navigable by suvs- minimum of a bolero, Scorpio sorts. I luckily exchanged my i20 for a friend's Scorpio. Check some snaps about what's in store.

V jus loved the place .. Huge rooms and most comfortable stay ever, with two people round the clock at service Elly for you .. Food was tasty and they took us around the estate - private falls, forest area and highest pt .. And travel desk pk travels did a safe job from pickup to drop .. Megamalai really a hidden treasure ..

We traveled Megamalai with group of 3 couples, booked 3 rooms, 2 in Manalar and 1 in sand river... Very nice service and very good location sounded with full greenish tea estate... Food seems little costly... Per pax 600/- but in that location with the service you can pay the cost. We taken only dinner from the resort. Best advice: Book Manalar or Sand River bungalow (cost little low, you can get approx 3K per room with breakfast), cloud mountain bungalow is little costly. - These are all the options available in Megamalai for pleasant stay with in tea estate. For Dinner book from the resort itself, no other option, since we don't know when the climate change and rainfall might happened, this resort is located 7 Kms away from the small town Highway... And road is very bad. It is not advisable travel in the night times to pick the dinner. But for Lunch you can book from Murugan local shop, he will charge 60 Rs for Veg meal and he will prepare Chicken / Country Chicken based on order, within Rs. 1000/- 6 to 7 persons can have non veg meal. (Economical). But to travel Megamalai, will take 4 to 5 hours from Theni, since the road condition is very bad... How ever road repair and relaying works are going on... If done megamalai may lose his beauty and nature. Before that visit this place and enjoy nature and pleasant stay. And he show us undercover places.. Hotel Caretaker: Manager Guest house: Vijay - youngest boy - But he also take care us and our children very well... He organized fire camp and prepared some good tea / coffee.. In the raining time. He never hesitate our requests... Mostly all the Briar group employees are very polite and service minded..
