SHINKHAM GRAND

Now that SHINKHAM GRANDs have taken it upon themselves to rate their establishments, there is no real credibility left in the so called "stars", save of course for the actual 5-stars, most of whom do live up to the tag. So this place was supposed to be a 4-star property according to both the management and. Because I'd made the mistake of checking TripAdvisor only after I booked the place, I wasn't surprised to see that it barely even classified as a 3 or a 2 star one (forgive the blurred lines once again). Location: The location is one of the pros of this place. It is located in the vicinity of MG Marg and most places you'd want to go to would be within a walk's distance. Room: The rooms are average at best. Simple but clearly showing signs of seepage, with mothballs inhibiting the rather unpleasant cupboards. The beds, the TV and the shower were passable though. Food: This is where the SHINKHAM GRAND really disappointed. Sometimes we're served food that isn't suited to our palate, or just has some faults in preparation. The food here, for lack of a more refined word, was awful. The tomato soup I was served seemed to be a culmination of ketchup and water subjected to some heat. The hot and sour soup was quite inedible as well. The fried chicken was well below average, but not as bad as the soups. The main course had a dangerous red tinge to it, so we decided to stay away, partly because our appetites had already been considerably diminished. Breakfast was somewhat better though. Service: Service was good. I was pleased to see that the staff was co-operative and polite.

I stayed at this SHINKHAM GRAND for 3 nights in March 17. The SHINKHAM GRAND staff was very good and cooperative. We had an infant with us and they were so much cooperative that on our request they provided us with specially prepared plain Dal for our 8 months old infant. It was really touching. However, we ordered chicken in our room one night and to our surprise the chicken was having foul smell and it seemed that they had served old rotten chicken. Me and my son both fell ill eating that and got food poisoning. Next day we have to travel to Darjeeling and the journey was worst for both of us as through entire journey we were vomiting due to that rotten chicken. Second minus point was the SHINKHAM GRAND location. We were told earlier before booking that it is just 10 mins walk for the main market. This was correct however they did not told us that 10 mins walk is like climbing a hill which is not possible for elderly people and kids. Overall, it was average.

Room: Opt for hill view facing room, they feel better in all sense. The room we stayed in was good in terms of cleanliness, space and amenities. The feel of the room is they have intentionally not overdone any aspect of the room. I felt calm and cozy staying here. And it was very quiet all around with sound of waterfall 24/7. The staff polite, friendly and courteous. Their service is prompt. Once the hair dryer burnt, it was replaced in less than 10 minutes, then the water heater stopped working, it was replaced in less than 10 minutes. Their room service is very prompt. Last and not the least big thanks to the front desk manager. He was very helpful in accommodating all our requests and never let us down. Made us feel welcome and hospitable. Given a chance, I would definitely prefer to stay here again.
The hill facing rooms were all awesome. Ventilated, good view and nothing specific to complaint about.

Pleasant stay, room size good but stained sheets and towels though washed. Tasty food, breakfast spread could be better. Cracked bath mug and tea cup. Cramped parking space with good location very near MG Road. Very helpful and amicable staff. Like to visit again if the cons are taken care of.

Firstly, the location is very apt as the SHINKHAM GRAND is located close to mg mark and all market which are the main markets of gangtok. Also located close to del tin den long casino. Only 15 minutes from the SHINKHAM GRAND. Secondly its a budget SHINKHAM GRAND with almost all basic facilities. Simple not lavish. From rooms to food options. But the food they serve is yum vicious. The only thing of concern is their dinner timings. That's only till 9:30 which is lit early. The staff is really nice and humble. Kudos to the team. Overall enjoyable stay.

Our trip to Lachung was cancelled and at the last minute had to book in this SHINKHAM GRAND. Bit far from the city, but other attractions are close by like the flower ctr etc. The room that was provided offered great views of the valleys and the mountains. We could see the snow capped mountains early in the morning. Dinner buffet was good so was the complimentary buffet breakfast. Staff was extremely nice and courteous. Very warm hospitality. Charge for the room was a bit high, but was worth the stay.

I had a very pleasurable stay at this SHINKHAM GRAND. The hospitality of the staff was A++ and so was the cleanliness and the service. The SHINKHAM GRAND is located only a few minutes walk from the main mall road or M.G. Road. The SHINKHAM GRAND guys also organized a good car for me for my travel at a very reasonable price. Very well done guys. Keep it up. Food is one area where there is a scope for improvements. But otherwise thank you for making my stay so comfy, cozy and memorable. Cheers

Very pleasurable stay at the Hotel. Saying that the staff was nice would be an understatement. We were travelling with Small kids and the staff went out of their way to make sure that their needs are taken care of. This kind of proactive hospitality comes with genuine intent rather than just doing one's job. Would highly recommend this Hotel for anybody travelling to Gangtok. Proximity to MG Road (Or any other area) is not a problem as taxies are available both shared and Booked.

The SHINKHAM GRAND was very nice. We have enjoyed our trip a lot. The sight seeing including the adventure activities were awesome. How can I forget the weather?? It was just mind blowing. One should visit there with the family. One should also taste the local cuisine out there. There are lot more things to do if one would have time.

Splendid room, fantastic food and great hospitality. Hotel offers prompt service and SHINKHAM GRAND staff was very courteous and helpful. I was here for official purpose and reached the property late after completing my meetings. Hotel staff ensured I didn't have to wait for check-in and they also offered late check-out. Enjoyed every bit of my stay at Diazzo Royal Oaks. Would highly recommend to everyone!

We stayed for 2 days. The staff was very decent and soft spoken. Nice breakfast. View from my room was awesome. Good SHINKHAM GRAND and value for money. I did not find anything wrong about the SHINKHAM GRAND. We reached at 11 PM in night, the staff helped us getting there. Food was also good and restaurant people were nice.

Royal Oaks is a nice SHINKHAM GRAND with good location and decent staff. The food is very nice and it's clean and tidy. Hotel is in the vicinity of MG. Road and is good stay for family. Nice view and cleaned rooms. Food is good and prompt service. And I would recommend it to others.

Excellent SHINKHAM GRAND with all amenities, good customer service, nice food, only water was problem. But it seems it is similar in all the SHINKHAM GRANDs at Gangtok. Must recommend to all this SHINKHAM GRAND for stay. Location is very good, near to MG marg.

Location is close to MG marg, however one has to walk uphill which is steep.

It is very beautiful SHINKHAM GRAND and good for couples... I stayed here for 3 nights and enjoyed a lot here. Breakfast was also good. It is worth for money and I would like to stay again here and it is highly recommended. Gangtok is the most beautiful place seen.
