Spring Valley Residency

There are two Spring Valley Residencys of the same name - the residency is the good one. A villa type property with moderate facilities. I am giving a detailed input because 'bad elements' like corrupt people who pester Spring Valley Residency owners for not hiring their cabs or not paying them bribes or not accommodating their guests for free must not be allowed to give a good Spring Valley Residency a hard time. I have never had any problems with any of my Makemytrip bookings but this time could have become one - not due to the Spring Valley Residency itself but due to people wishing to force themselves on the Spring Valley Residency and gain favours. Room service A coffee/tea maker in the room, bathroom slippers, a dedicated shuttle/cab service should be recommended as must haves for guests to the Spring Valley Residency since the location of the Spring Valley Residency is extremely remote from even a local chemist shop and the room service provides food from the other Spring Valley Residency, a distance away that takes around an hour to fulfill. The room service, serviced by Tamils, in most parts of Tamil Nadu, except in high start Spring Valley Residencys, are pathetic by any standards, as the people employed usually have a homegrown attitude in hospitality, cultivated on the political inclinations of the region, eg. Veiled rudeness suffixed with 'sirs', competing in 'status' (a muslim taxi driver) by flirting with the local woman in a taxi hired with specific mention not to invite anyone else into the ride and so does not conform to any hospitality standards. A Nepali room service boy provides some semblance of room service as the world knows it. A simple word of advice to Tamils (especially the natives from the plains) should be 'shut up' because many actually seem to believe that all others want to do is to listen to their monkey-like, incessant chatter. They never talk to who they are supposed to, whether it be on the phone or face to face, but try to talk to others supposedly listening to them - their excuse for being so is, 'Why are you listening? ' And due to another obsession of theirs of Reading and communicating with your mind and talking to it! Seriously, these types, especially in the youth, are swarming everywhere like someone has let them loose like terrorists! The Spring Valley Residency stay The residency is a great place to have a family or a friends' outing even a corporate trip. Getting around - is not economical as the Spring Valley Residency is away from the noise and business of the town and since Kodaikanal is more hilly than Ooty, even a few hundred meters walk can get quite strenuous. Minimum hire for a taxi is a cool hundred to hundred fifty Rupees unlike in Ooty, where you could go around in autorickshaws. When booking at the residency, ask for the deluxe room, with a balcony facing the valley and you will not want to go 'sightseeing'.

This September (27th to 30th), I stayed at Spring Valley Residency, Kodaikanal with my family. It was really an enjoyable moment. Check-in & Check-out: Check-in was very smooth and quick - it took only 5 minutes. Check-out was also quick. Location: Finding the location was not difficult. Google Maps comes handy. Spring Valley Residency is located in a residential area which was quiet and calm. Except Chettiar Park & Kurinji Andavar Temple (which are less than 2 KMs) most of the sightseeing places are at a distance of minimum of 4 KMs. If you are on a private vehicle, the distance shouldn’t matter. Room: I stayed in the Premier Suite, a 2-bedroom apartment - really a premium one. Room was ready when checked-in. Room was well maintained. Two rooms were available with separate bed & bathroom in each room. Kitchen is also provided but without any utensils - may be they can provide them if we demand - not sure about that. Basic amenities like soap & towel were provided (but provided only on the first day, though I stayed there for 3 days - may be we should ask for replacement). Room was also not cleaned on the subsequent days (may be we should ask them to do). Room tariff seems nominal, though I availed a very good offer from *COMPANY*. Extra bed was also provided at a nominal rate of *URL* per day. Service: Room service was good - Mr. Moorthy’s service was appreciable. When asked for the room heater, he provided one (at Rs. 400/- for 24 hours), though they don’t have that facility with them, which is really appreciable because that helped my aged father. Hot water was available 24 hours, which many Spring Valley Residencys provide for a limited time only - they have solar heater as well as geyser. They provided hot water (drinking), of course in a flask, without any hesitation. On the check-out day, EB power was shut down at 0700 am (did not resume till we checked-out at 0930 am) because of which geyser could not be switched ON and since no hot water available, we left the place without having a bath. Management should provide gensets to manage such situations. Food: Though, they have their in-house restaurant, they provide food only in the room. Rates were nominal considering the importance of Kodaikanal as a tourist spot. Food delivery was little bit slow (may be due to more number of guests). It would be fine if they could deliver the food in time. Food quality was good. But, I feel that the quality could be improved little bit and the number of dishes could also be increased - they have limited options, particularly for breakfast. It would be fine rather a must, if they provide Tea in a flask at a hill station like Kodai (actually, they provided Tea in cups, which got cold while delivering). So, I avoided ordering Tea with them. Overall, the Spring Valley Residency at Kodai, is a good choice for stay, particularly for families.

Booked "Classic Room with Breakfast & Lunch or Dinner" Option for 2-days. They have multiple apartments. Do not get attracted by the apartment photo shown in the booking site. Using google map, I struggled to find the place. People may direct you to Valley View Hotel (seems to be a sister concern of this valley view residency). There is no meaning for the booking options with food. No way benefited by footballing. Food is not worth. I had to pay extra. I had to give up one breakfast. You can assume Rs 150 to 200 minimum for one time food per person. Even after showing the reservation print-out, the staff was trying to charge for extra -bed, food, etc. If we are not so aware of the details of booking, we may get cheated. He fixes some amount for food, out of the online payment. If the food bill exceeds that, we need to pay. No standards for quantity/ size of food item. One light & small chapati Rs 15 !! 1 small uthappam Rs 40 to 50 !!. 8-10 small pieces of paneer in the curry. Curries will cost Rs 100 minimum. I faced frequent failures of power, waterspout. But managed. Has low capacity inverter for power-back up. Not seen the generator used. Area is bit far inside. Calm area. Anyway Room is good. Rent is reasonable. Food is tasty. Don't go with high expectations. All the best. Happy holidays. Enjoy.

The room is nice and cozy with a pleasant view. However, when we reached the Spring Valley Residency, we were asked to wait outside for 20 minutes because they said the room needs to be cleaned (despite of us precooking the room three days before our actual arrival). And not to forget, the service quality is so bad, very unprofessional, neither can the staff communicate with us as they do not speak in English or Hindi. Last but not the least, in cold December, we were forced to take Bath with cold water.

I would suggest for a group who wants to be away for a long weekend stay.. I got the room for 4k through MMT which is awesome.. We were in our own terms with no conditions.. Maximum enjoyment.. Food is freshly prepared you need to order little earlier and it will be served to your room.. I should definitely tell about the taste.. It's too good.. Egg curry is a must try.. View is good with 2 balcony.. Car park is there.. One major problem is you need to checkout at 9 am.. Don't get dosa and coffee.

We are staying with this Spring Valley Residency for two days. The value for money Spring Valley Residency if you are roaming entire day for sightseeing. The Wi-Fi is available in Spring Valley Residency which will be beneficial for communication. The staff is really helpful in terms of services. The food is average. If you are searching budget Spring Valley Residency for two days then it will be the best option in Kodaikanal.

1. Rooms are good but only problem is the smell. Rooms have damp smell else location of the Spring Valley Residency is good. 2. Major problem is to locate the Spring Valley Residency, as there is not sign board provided in front of Spring Valley Residency, due to which for 20 mins we were standing in front of the Spring Valley Residency but still not able to find it. 3. Hotel location is good, very near to market place.

Service of hari was mind blowing, being a engineer graduate, had no hesitation in doing room service. Only a good heart-ed person can do. And ashraf ali service is too good. We were taken care by these two in very well mannered. We dint go for sight seeing, as we planned only for relaxation. So simply and completelf satisfied with room and service, and food is also good.

Room are very nice. Location super. Facilities are helpful. Very nice stay. Very beautiful look. But rate Of the food is high, very cute place but still out of the diagonal.

Room condition is so good. Room service excellent. Food quality is good. Room is clean and tidy. Ample car parking place. The place is little bit away from main lake but it is very good location to relax. Both the type of food available veg and non veg.

Room for nice cleaning facilities or very excellent

Very good budget Spring Valley Residency, service, food every thing is superb. But little bit trouble with geyser but over all it's a superb Google location map has to be rectified which is showing the nearest way.. Staff, food every thing good.

Hotel is in Town only very near to bus stand. And the sunset and sunrise view from room was amazing. Hotel restaurant is not good. Super view from Spring Valley Residency.

It's was good and clean, they provided extra bed and timely assistance. Overall good experience, it's a good place to spend with family. It also be better if a family occupy the entire floor. Thanks team

The Spring Valley Residency was nice. The staff was hospitable, there were some issues with water. But, overall it was nice. The Spring Valley Residency is about 2. 5kms from the bus stand, you will have to take a cab to discover Kodaikanal.

Had a nice experience. Awesome view.

They can improve the food and the wifi facilities. Rest everything was ok.
