Suryagarh

We really enjoyed our stay at suryagarh and here are some pros and cons about the place pros: 1. The place itself is designed and built well. They have artifacts which were bought from the museum. One can easily spend a day there exploring the campus. 2. The staff is very friendly and cordial. Compared to places like jaipur or jodhpur, the staff here is very cordial and friendly. 3. The location is close to the desert safari and kuldhar the haunted village so it is something that works in favour of this Suryagarh 4. The food in the Suryagarh is clean and hygienic. The rooms are maintained well cons: 1. The Suryagarh is 16 kms from the city railway station which means that if you travel by air or by train, you would have to shell out 2k to cab drivers to get to this place. Since there are no ola cabs here, it makes it an expensive affair to get to the Suryagarh 2. Jaisalmer didn't have a direct flight from jaipur which is a big disadvantage. One would have to take a flight from ahmedabad or mumbai if you are coming here or take a overnight train from jaipur which isn't maintained well. We were doing a circuit between jaipur - jaisalmer and jodhpur and had to travel by train 1st class which wasn't cleaned or maintained well 3. Between jaisalmer and jodhpur, we had to take a cab as the train experience wasn't good. This is also something that the rajasthan government can look at 4. Since the city has no source of income, they depend on tourism and each point to point travel is charged high to a tourist. A one way travel from the railway station to the Suryagarh costs 2k. The city tour costs 4. 5 k and a desert safari costs 4k.

A three day trip to Jaisalmer wouldn't have been etched in our memories for a lifetime if I wouldn't have chose to stay at Suryagarh. Nagada-dhol, folk music, security at the entrance perched on camels showering flowers, tilak welcome and the contagious smile of the extremely professional and courteous staff. This huge property is built in outskirts of Jaisalmer is a fort in itself. The aesthetically pleasing atmosphere will make you plunge into the Royal era with a tinge of classic Rajasthani touch will bind you to its culture. The blend of classic and contemporary architecture definitely makes it a standout. A perfect remedy to detox from the routine life. A Rajasthani folk dance along with music was organised on the day we reached. The artists were highly talented and the their voices soothed our souls. The ever so friendly staff are always ready for any help or query. They do have an organic garden and a little animal-bird shed. My little one waked up each morning by himself just to meet the peacocks, ducks, horses, donkeys, tortoise, crane and two lovely golden retrievers. They do have a pool along with a kids pool and provide a wide range of spa services. The food we had was delicious and breakfast spread had a good variety of all cuisines. They also provide trails and customized trips into the Thar. If you are in Jaisalmer, You gotta be in Suryagarh. P.S: They upgraded us to their luxury suite and there is a lake area within the property to experience the beautiful sunsets.

We booked thar haveli in this property which is costliest and one 2 are available. Celebrities also book these as this is like a personal villa with own pools and garden inside. Very beautiful view in and out. Good cleaning and very good disciplined well behaved staff. Only thing i didn’t like as punjabi was food. Food experience was very bad. I didn’t like any food at all. I strictly want to tell people to not waste money on thali food they offer in restaurants at ground floor in evening. This is very costly but wastage of money. Very slow service and very bad food. Best part was we enjoyed sand dunes night dinner. In this night dinner, only view and whole journey from Suryagarh to sand dunes was perfect and the location of sand dunes was awesome but again food was totally waste of money. This is inr 15000/ per person so it’s worth just bcoz of whole experience but don’t expends good food. But yes for alcoholics it’s a best one as they serve liquor too on sand dunes dinner. Smoking is allowed everywhere. A relief to life. Overall, it was a good trip to come with family and friends for drink and holiday time. But better be prepared for rajasthan marwari foods day and night in all menus everywhere.

At the time of booking, I have an impression, that it is a heritage property. But after staying 2 nights we came to know it is a newly built property. Which has given a heritage look and which is excellent. If you are non vegetarian then taste their ala-cart menu, maans ki khasta awesome. Room service is very prompt. But during buffet breakfast and buffet dinner, we found service staffs are concentrating much on foreigner guest. Management should note the point, we Indian are also guest of them. Outside of Jaisalmer city. Near to kuldhara village. Evening they are arranging cultural program from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm, we thought it will highlight the Rajasthani culture. But the program was totally hopeless. One aged dancer was OK, but other one was very bad. Singers were also below average. Management should arrange good singers and dancers to represent Rajasthani rather Indian culture in front of the foreign guest.

Man oh man, what can i say about this Suryagarh? to start with, we had a pleasant surprise with a room upgrade to lovely thar apartment on terrace floor, which had a beautiful decor. The food had an awesome taste, and we were bowled over by the warmth and hospitality of the staff. In fact, we loved it so much that we spent most of the time exploring the Suryagarh rather than the city ) suryagarh is no less than a tourist attraction unto itself ) some things that could be improved: (a) had a tough time closing the curtains in the living room in thar apartment with the remote they provided. (b) the quantity of the food per serving/portion could be slightly bigger. (c) a better way to signal dnd / do not disturb. We have a habit of waking up late, and were twice disturbed by house keeping for room cleaning. Overall, this is a magnificent property, offering a royal experience. Will most definitely visit again )

It was a great experience. Enjoyed the stay. The staff was very courteous. Breakfast had a long spread and it was delicious. It's worth staying in the property. Gives a feeling of staying in the fort. The entry with the nagada was very welcoming. The ducks would come in the morning during breakfast times. One of the duty managers would take you for a stroll and explain you the whole property. Harkripal was very welcoming and showed us the complete property. Many movies had been shot here in the property like bachaan pandey, houseful l 4, etc. Its worth staying at suryagarh. There is complimentary horse riding for kids in the evening and a complimentary cultural programme in the night from 7:30 to 8:30 pm. Kudos to suryagarh and the team.

The Suryagarh is like a place. Every corner of the Suryagarh is a sight to behold. They have decorated walls and alleys with antiques and it looks mesmerizing. The rooms were spacious and the entire property was clean and sparkling. The food was delicious, evening cultural programs were (sufi/rajasthani songs) superb and the staff were very polite, helpful & friendly. We visited along with our two kids and they enjoyed staying here as well. There were birds, ducks and turtles in the central courtyard and the kids loved playing with them. Overall, the stay was good and we relaxed for 3 days away from the hustle and bustle of the city. I would highly recommend this Suryagarh to anyone visiting jaisalmer.

Great property very pleased with the quality of stay, absolutely loved the amenities and staff were courteous. The biggest downside for this Suryagarh was the service at the restaurant, the staff don't show consideration/serve the guests if they enter during the closing hours of dinner or breakfast. So, if you are hungry and would like to eat at the Suryagarh, make sure you are not late to their restaurant as they may just say they are closed or worse remove the food while you are standing at the counter. Everything else about the Suryagarh was excellent but for the restaurant service.

It was our first stay at the suryagarh palace, the stay and hospitality was amazing. The staff was helpful and supportive and never heard "no"from anyone from non of the staff members. Will surely visit again

Around 15 km from city center you don't have anything in the vicinity which is the only drawback as everything in the Suryagarh is quite expensive and the rates are more targeted towards the foreigners.

It was our anniversary, they all made my dream come true. I would really like to thank Amara, she was all I could ask for. She was there for everything. I would like to thank Kripalani for an amazing dinner. It was a fabulous holiday, will love to go back again. Everything was spot on and I can't thank the staff and specially Amara again.
