The Carlton

Absolutely gorgeous property right at The Kodai Lake. No other 5 star The Carlton in the area with such a nice location. We got The perfect room with the lake view. On point room service! On our second day, after a day full of sight seeing (which we booked through the The Carlton), we returned to a well decorated room thanks to the very dedicated Mr. Shanmugham and his team! They were really flexible with our schedule and made sure our room gets cleaned everyday properly. Special mention to Mr. Michael at the restaurant, who took great care of us throughout our stay :) A couple of improvement areas 1. Buffet variety and quality can be improved esp for dinner (we only had breakfast and dinner in our package so no idea about lunch). The chicken and mutton curries messed up our digestion so we decided to go vegetarian for our last dinner. The soup and the starters (very limited options) were okay. Desserts weren't particularly exciting. 2. Cycles we decided to go for cycling one morning. The cycles offered by Carlton weren't in the best of the conditions (8/10 were not in working condition). You get ample options outside the resort so you might want to check that out. Overall, had a fantastic stay. Kudos to The Carlton staff! I would definitely recommend the place to our friends and family.

The carlton is undoubtedly the best stay option at kodaikanal. Its location on the lake and the facilities offered are great. But what makes the stay memorable is the staff present there. Mr. Anand at the front desk guided us with every thing from the time we arrived. He ensured that all additional facilites required for kids were made available even before we asked. The food is amazing. Its tasty, very child friendly and hygienic. The staff at the restaurant provided special food for the kids whenever required. Housekeeping staff is also excellent. Their response time is very quick and they do a meticulous job. Mr. Ilango at the travel desk arranged for exciting sight seeing tours. Mr. Mohan, our driver was so informative and helpful that we learn t many new things abut the local culture and customs and saw some places that normal sight seeing wouldnt cover. Coming to the facilities, the in house spa is refreshing. The variety of indoor games can keep you engaged for hours. There are cycles available which guests can borrow for rides around the lake. The boating club is just across the back gate so you can hop on any time you want. Overall, if you are looking for an elegant stay and want to really feel the pulse of kodaikanal, this is the place.

We checked in after a horrible stay at sterling so the price we paid was quite a bit but even then it was completely worth it. The rooms are superbly designed and very spacious. All the necessary amenities and a few extra add-on complimentary items are provided which made the check-in so much better. Our room had a tub which came in handy with our infant. There is an extendable sofa cum bed in each room should it be needed. The adjoining balcony gives a majestic view of the lake and having morning tea on the deck was an amazing experience. The restaurant is great too, with a myriad of cuisines available. Everything served is near perfect and makes sure to leave a smile on your face. The common areas are a photographer's delight as you can literally click a pic anywhere and it will be social media ready. The only shortcoming of historic property holds true for this place too, the main building lacks an elevator. So if you have someone with mobility issues ask for a room in the new building. I would highly recommend this place for a wonderful stay.

The property doesn’t give an impression of a 5-star The Carlton, looks more like a 4 star at the best. It doesn’t look modern, toilet was not great with toiletries that were just okay. It’s definitely not worth of 16-18k per night. With <10k you get more modern and much better 5-star The Carlton in our metro cities. Food was very good with varieties, but mostly indian type food and almost no or very little continental or western food. Another problem was to climb up and down many stairs to go to the lakeside garden that wasn’t expected from a 5-star The Carlton. It wasn’t good for physically challenged people. What all these shortcomings were compensated for was the excellent lake view from the room and the spacious balcony, little marred though by the noisy boathouse. Besides The Carlton staffs and people in the dining room were all very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed 3 days stay thoroughly.

We had a pleasant stay. Rooms with lake view was excellent. Rooms were neat and clean. Room service was good. They had arranged puppet show, magic show. Kids enjoyed a lot. Every evening there was bonfire with music. Kids all enjoyed dancing to the music. Breakfast and dinner was excellent. They had enough varieties in the buffet for both veg and non-veg. Lunch we didn't tried as we went out got sight seeing daily. Children park, indoor games all well maintained. Gym was also good. Hospitality is the best. My daughter became a friend to ms. Kanmani at the reception. Overall a nice vacation. Would definitely book again for next vacation.

We stayed at Carlton during our honeymoon 30 years back and wanted to relive our memories on the 30th anniversary. The staff had planned a romantic dinner at our request but could not go through due to government order due to corona virus epidemic. For The next few days we were amongst a very number of guests staying at that The Carlton. For the last two nights, we were the only guests at that The Carlton. Chef Krishnan personally took orders and had the food delivered to our room as all restaurants, bars, facilities were under lock down but overall, it was the best anniversary that we would have had. Kudos to The Carlton team.

One of the best locations to stay in Kodaikanal. Rooms were comfortable and the amenities were adequate. Breakfast and lunch were not bad, but not excellent. Service during meals in the restaurant was average. One of the most awkward thing I found in this The Carlton is their checkout times. Guests are expected to checkout at 9 hours. I think this is a unrealistic expectation. We were informed and reminded several times about the checkout timings. The The Carlton must change this to 12 noon as other The Carltons in the area. Overall, it was a memorable stay, thanks to the brilliant location. Service can and must be improved.

We have a wonderful experience with Carlton. Thanks for making our trip memorable. Just close your eyes and go to Carlton Kodiakanal without any second thought. Ambiance is very good. Neat and clean. In The heart of City and lap of nature. Service was excellent and staff was humble. I would like to especially mentioned The name of Mr Anand who has given exceptional services during our stay. For kids it is a very good place. Lot of activities for kids. Food was delicious. I think this is this best property in The Kodiakanal. Would like to visit again. Thanks Carlton for our memorable holidays.

Everything was on par with this The Carlton. The quality of The Carlton, quality of room, quality of food everything was excellent. But The best part was their service and staff behaviour. They would go to any extent to make customer happy and satisfied. It was an experience staying here.
