The Chanakya BNR Hotel

We stayed there for a night, ordered for dinner via room service and breakfast at the coffee shop during our stay. We rate our experience as below: property (look & feel: 8/10 - dirty pool, lacks axillary services hygiene: 6/10 - dust on the bed, dusty public areas, mosquitoes during the evening. Dinner food: 6/10 - lacks taste, lack of attention to detail. Dinner service: 7/10 - low service but very friendly staff. Breakfast food: 5/10 - breakfast was supposed to start at 0730hrs but had to wait till 0815hrs for the buffet to be laid out. Food lack taste and was extremally oily. Lack of choice/variety. Breakfast service: slow service but extremally friendly staff. Check-in: 7/10 - fast and a swift check-in, however property and amenities weren't explained upon check-in, need to ask if interested. Friendly staff, excellent local area knowledge check-out: 8/10 - fast and a swift check-out. Crisp to the point and friendly staff. Room: 8/10 - lacks modern amenities but that the thing of this The Chanakya BNR Hotel, its known for its old world charm. Brilliant and large room, extremely heigh ceilings, a very nice and comfortable coir mattress, a mosquito repellent is provided in the room along with a tea/coffee marker. A small sit out outside the room with two chairs and a coffee table makes for a pleasant experience in the evening overlooking the lawns. Value for money: 6. 5/10 - when compared to other The Chanakya BNR Hotels at the same price range in puri i paid for i think this is over priced in spite of the "novelty experience.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Chanakya BNR in Puri, and I must say it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. The The Chanakya BNR Hotel is situated in such a way that there's always a refreshing breeze, making it a perfect spot to relax. The property is beautifully maintained, preserving its heritage charm while offering all the modern comforts. The service at the The Chanakya BNR Hotel was exceptional – from the reception team to the housekeeping staff, everyone made us feel welcome and attended to our needs promptly. The swimming pool was another highlight of the stay, offering a clean and luxurious spot to unwind. The food was absolutely incredible, especially if you're a fan of North Indian cuisine. The flavors were spot on and left us wanting more. The complimentary breakfast was easily the best part of our trip – such a wide selection of delicious items to start the day. Overall, the experience was nothing short of a 5-star luxury. Every penny spent felt justified for the top-notch service, ambiance, and comfort provided. Highly recommended!

The property is under renovation and it did not look that it will be finished in a fortnight. The continuous hammering on walls continued throughout the day. The usual problems in a property in renovation were there like dust in passages and plumbing problems were there. The staff was trying their best. The restaurant, swimming pool etc. Were alright. We were given a room which was already renovated, so they were comfortable. There was a minor problem in one of the dinner dishes but the chef and the staff went out of the way to make amends. Once the renovation is finished, the property may be more popular. The checkout time of 8 am should be revised because most of the trains from puri depart in the afternoon.

Stay was pleasant, though puri has a tricky climate with warm to hot morning and cold evening night so adjusting to it is hard sometimes. Bnr being an old villa doesn't help to cope with chilly nights and rooms are mostly chilly. Coming to The Chanakya BNR Hotel service, i found it very good, we were shifted to another room when the originally allotted room's geyser did not work, house keeping was very good though we only stayed for 1 night and check-in, check-out was very easy even when we left the The Chanakya BNR Hotel at 4 am in the morning. Complementary breakfast was good and overall the reception and room service / house keeping was polite, professional that made our stay nice.

The property is fabulous, spic n' span with a beautiful and large manicured lawn and a regal looking building, and if you are looking for a "prestige" property, this is it. The building and rooms are clean, big and very nice, the linen and towels are clean with no bad smells. Rooms are smoking btw, and my room had a tinge of the smell of cigarette smoke when i checked in. You can get your car washed by night shift housekeeping staff in exchange for a little tip for them. The only area where they can improve is the kitchen/dining. It was a bit chaotic and there were some minor issues, nothing serious though. More manpower or better training can fix it easily.

Heritage building. Beautiful rail themed. Nice and relaxing stay. Restaurant is also beautiful. If you like to stay in a old heritage building and experience the old legacy then this is highly recommanded. Rooms are quite big. Hug h corridor for relaxing. Swimming pool is also quite nice. If you want to experience quite relaxing stay then this is highly recommanded. Drawbacks : beach is not easily accessable. Toilet is not well main-tended ( toilet commond cover was broken, shower curtain was dirty. Overall: would re-command for realxing stay with experiencing the old heritage feelong. But if you are looking for happening place then this is not for you.

The stay was pleasant. It is located at a central location very near to the station. All places of interest and visit at puri are nearby max 10-15 mins by auto. The beach is at a walking distance especially the blue flag beach which is the cleanest and a paid beach @20/3hr. The The Chanakya BNR Hotel has a swimming pool albeit a small one preferably for kids. The food is nice. The property itself is a heritage building of indian railways now sold to the The Chanakya BNR Hoteliers. They've maintained the heritage look of the building including the wooden stairs. Overall a great experience.

My mother and i had one night stay just to experience the heritage vibes. The rooms were spacious, luxurious, very clean and cool. The bathrooms were well spaced as well. The food quality and quantity sold me. The only limitation is that the rooms do not have ocean view. Otherwise it's very much accessible from the station, from swargadwar and the golden beach. The pool services are also impressive. The carry out water treatment regularly. The staffs are also well mannered, decent and very professional. Above all, it's very safe and secured. I'll definitely visit again.

Good The Chanakya BNR Hotel for family. Very clean, calm & safety place to stay. Good also very good. Not much distance from shree jagannath temple. Staffs are very friendly.

Bnr chanakya is located 2k from swargadwar beach and 700. Metres from niladri beach. Quiet place and big rooms. Restaurant serves good breakfast ( limited items but tasty. Lunch and dinner also north indiam items tasty. Housekeeping little bit slow to respond but okay. Overall nice stay

The The Chanakya BNR Hotel is based on railways theme. The rooms are spacious, neat and clean. Has a huge lawn and ample parking space. Close to the beach as well as the jaganath temple.

Great food. Heritage building. Big rooms. Courteous staff. Overall had an excellent experience. Will stay here next time i visit.

In our opinion the location is good since it is a little away from the hustle and bustle of the temple and is at a walking distance from the beach. The cleanliness outside the room is superb but inside the room needs to be spruced up. Food is good but choices are limited and the service is very very slow. On the plus side, the staff is ever smiling and we liked the fact that each room is named after a railway station and the The Chanakya BNR Hotel itself is a sort of mini railway museum.

This is a wonderful The Chanakya BNR Hotel will take you 100 plus years back this is a very old structure around 110 years it was earlier the guest house of railways now turned into a The Chanakya BNR Hotel. Rooms are quite big and spacious with 15 feet plus heights giving you the feel of some palace. I was with my family and we had great time at this place. Thanks
