The Lanswood Estate

The property is definitely worth the hype. Here's a detailed list of pros and cons: Pros: 1. View: The property is located in a great area with a breathtaking view. 2. Staff: The staff is polite and well-mannered. 3. Food: The food is amazing, especially the chicken rara, laal mass, and mutton rogan josh. The meals are very home-cooked and delicious. The veg menu is average, but the parathas with dahi are good. Breakfast is also good. 4. Room: The interior is really eye-catching. The rooms are cozy and look exactly like the pictures, in fact, they're even better than the pictures. Cons: 1. Location: The property is more of a staycation homestay as it's not located in Landdowne, but about 7-8 km away. 2. Connectivity: It's a great property if you're traveling by your own vehicle, but the connectivity is a little bad, especially for public transport. If you take a bus or shared taxi, it will drop you on the main road, from where you'll have to walk towards the property, and the incline is a little tiring. So, it's better to carry backpacks instead of suitcases. 3. WiFi: The WiFi doesn't work properly. They tried fixing it several times, but it didn't work properly. Thankfully, my friend had a Jio sim, so we were out of trouble, as there was no Vodafone network in the property. 4. Checkout: On the day of checkout, even though the rooms were empty, the staff called us incessantly to checkout by 11, even though the checkout time is supposed to be 12, as stated in the booking. We had been staying for the past 5 days and we checked in a little late on the 28th. 5. View from the Attic: We booked the attic room, which was great, but our attic did not have a window in front of it, thus blocking the view. They have two attic rooms with windows located at the attic. However, all the rooms have a valley view through doors and windows. I would recommend preferring the room with a view from the attic. 6. Balcony: The rooms don't have separate balconies, and there is no division between the balconies; they are shared by all valley view and attic rooms. 7. Cottage Rooms: They do have Lanswood cottage rooms as well, which do have a common balcony with separations. However, the cottage rooms cannot be found online, or at least we could not find them. We personally liked the attic room more as it was more spacious .

Positives- 1. Very good design, unique- seems like each room has a character. We stayed in the pine suite. 2. The owners are very well mannered, the welcome provided by them was very warm - with garhwal cap/scarf and they even go all the way to your car to say goodbye when you checkout, like you’d normally do with your guests at home. Uncle who owns the place seems like gem of a person. 3. Food - was very good, although, the pahari dishes were averagish, i’ve had better at other parts of uttarakhand. Negatives- 1. The food is never punctual: you have to typically order 3-4 hours (1 meal) in advance. Even then it was always delayed by 30-60 minutes. Maybe they’re understaffed - or have planned poorly. The kitchen isn’t well managed. Example - our 2pm lunch was served at 02:40pm and 09:30pm dinner was served at 10:15pm (this is when we’d ordered everything half a day ago. And then you can’t even ask for something to be repeated as the kitchen closes pretty soon. I was declined to serve the ice cream again as they said the kitchen was closed (although all the delays were from their end and little effort goes in serving it. The money they’re charging for food is that of a good restaurant- with the taste of a restaurant but service quality worse than any other homestay i’ve been to. There were many instances of this poor service and mis management. 2. Checkout timing: the timing we’d booked on makemytrip for checkout was 12pm, however, we were constantly being nagged by their manager navjyot to checkout soon, at 11am. They even came knocking to our door saying we have to checkout soon. This is after we’d already confirmed at the reception to checkout at our booked timing of 12pm. 3. The water in the shower was slightly filled with mud. Maybe it’s boring water. 4. The wifi was pretty patchy and air-tel sim connectivity was poor. Although that’s probably true for all of landsdowne. Overall - okay, they’re also building more rooms. May give it another go then if the service quality matches with the price being charged.

The property's location was simply amazing, probably at the highest point in all of lansdowne. The only problem with this was that to access the The Lanswood Estate, we had to drive on a steep unpaved road with no barriers, which was potentially dangerous. The room was very well decorated and huge. Some rooms also had some stairs leading up to a full size bed in an attic, which is perfect for groups travel-ling together who don't want to spend money on an extra room. All rooms also had a shared balcony with chairs and tables to enjoy the incredible view. The weak point though, was the washroom. It was dirty and small. Coming to the food, the dining hall only had one big table who everyone had to share but the food was decent. Overall, it was a pleasant stay, and i might consider going there again.

We stayed in the Pine room, which accommodated four people comfortably. The room was well-maintained, beautifully designed, and came with an attached terrace offering an amazing view. The staff were courteous and always prompt with their service. Though the property is a bit secluded, they were kind enough to provide a cab, which made travel easier. The food was good, and they even provided games in our room, which added to the overall experience. It was a peaceful and pleasant stay, and I’d happily visit again!

Lanswood estate is situated at a very pretty location! view is very beautiful from the balcony! you can hear birds chirping all the time, it's peaceful. Staff is very courteous and family like. Food is always freshly prepared and yummy, plus point is you can modify taste as per your liking! owners were present and they are very loving! best wishes to them for their future projects! we had a very wonderful stay.

Our room was premium room with attic and my kids enjoyed to stay on attic. Room was specious has all the required furniture. Location and view is amazing. Owner was humble and took the families for small tracking on the jungle above the The Lanswood Estate. We stayed for 3 nights and there was not much to do for kids like play zone/room/swings.

A fantastic stay just 6kms before Lansdowne. Excellent spacious lodging, good quality food, and a wonderful location (though amateur drivers may find it a task driving their car uphill the approach road). However, the best part is the staff who are soft spoken and take very good care of the guests (Arif, Rajinder, Saklani ji and Neha).

Lanswood estate is a amazing place to stay with nice decor, amazing views, good quality rooms, clean and maintained well stay. Its aesthetically very pleasing and the food is amazing too.
