Winds Desert Camp is a beautiful property located close to the Sam Sand Dunes. The tents are spacious, clean and well-maintained. The staff is friendly, hospitable and always ready to help. The food is delicious and offers a mix of North Indian and Rajasthani cuisine. The cultural program in the evening is entertaining and enjoyable. The property offers a range of activities including camel and jeep safaris, which are well-organized and thrilling. The location is peaceful and away from the hustle-bustle of the city. Overall, a great place to stay for a memorable desert experience.

A pleasant stay at the that desert

My first trip to Jaisalmer and the desert. After a lot of review I chose to go for Winds Desert Camp and I was not at all disappointed. The check is was smooth. Mr. Vinay (manager) was very efficient in explaining what to expect along with timelines. We reached around 1 pm and the tents were allowed to us immediately. The tents were amazing. We had an issue with our in room window ac which was initially not working was resolved in a jiffy. We wanted to have some lunch and the same was also arranged quickly. They have an À-la-carte menu which is reasonably priced. There is not an intercom facility in the room so they provide cards with reception and restaurant numbers on them. The sunset safari was arranged well by the manager and we enjoyed every bit of it. Once we were back we were greeted with a face towel, tika, and welcome songs in the background. We were given tea/ coffee and biscuits at the common space and there around 7:30 pm the musical program started. We enjoyed the songs and dance performances. During the musical function, we were given: peanut mix, dal vada, french fries. Post that the dinner was made ready around 8:45 pm. The spread was quite elaborate: salad, pickles, soup, rice, yellow dal, bati and churma (local dish), cauliflower sabzi, veg. Noodles, gatte ki sabzi (local dish), Matar paneer, Kedar payasam, chicken curry, roti was served at the table with or without ghee. During our dinner conversation, the manager told us about the morning jeep safari and we agreed to it. At 6 am we drove to the sand dunes and enjoyed the sunrise. By 8 am was made ready. Breakfast spread: toast, butter, jam, banana, puri, aloo sabzi, poha, bhujiya, omelet (to order), tea/ coffee. The staff made our stay and a memorable one. I would highly recommend Winds Desert Camp.
Great stay with excellent service

Took a Swiss camp with air cooler. We were welcomed with a welcome drink as it was hot in afternoon around 3. Room was impressive with well designed tents and neat toilets. We were told to get ready around 4 to take camel safari as its part of the package. They took us near to sand dunes in cab and an awesome camel safari started. We came back to desert camp post sunset, welcomed with aarati and a hot tea with snacks freshened us up. Next was Rajasthani folk dance. There was a dedicated place to sit and enjoy this dance, it had old school seats on the floor. A fire was lit in the centre to keep us warm, as it started becoming colder. Dance was very enjoyable and its amazing that the culture of folklore dance is still maintained. Dinner had veg as well non veg buffet and it was good. Night stay was too good as we were away from all city buzz. Spoke with manager of desert camp and he organised a jeep safari. They took us near to sand dunes for jeep safari next day morning for sunrise view. It was quite a thrill ride. Breakfast buffet was good and it had all varieties to satisfy everyone. Overall, one of the best stays we had. As compared with other camps, desert camp is not near to sand dunes. Car drive of 15 to 20 mins would take you to sand dunes.
A bit expensive, but totally worth it

I went with two other friends on 24th feb. The camp is 30-40 km away from Jaisalmer city so you'll need some transport. They can provide the cab for some extra charge. The camp is not at Sam sand dunes but 3-4 km away from it, which is fine because they'll take you there for the activities. The tents were spotless and you'll be surprised how well maintained the washrooms are for a remote place like this. Running hot and cold water is available. For hot water, you just have to turn the geyser on. On arrival we were given welcome drinks and at 5 we went to Sam sand dunes for camel ride and the sunset. On return we had a traditional welcome and tea coffee and some snacks were ready. Later during the cultural performance, snacks were served. The dinner was good. We do not have any complaints. In the morning you have your breakfast and tea. The staff is very courteous and will help you with any requests. The best thing about this camp is its location. Its far from any other camp so it is really peaceful. You can see a ton of stars from there if you step away from the light for a while. Also it is right next to windmill. We decided to spend a bit extra on the camp and that was the best decision we made. I would like to return here with my family.
Wonderful experience

Even though Winds Desert Camp is far from the sand dunes, it is still a wonderful experience to stay here. The serenity of the place, the beauty, the romance of the desert--all of it can be experienced here. The tents are clean, spacious, with lovely decor. I loved the little lantern-style lamps that light the room at night and give it the most romantic, camping feel. The bathrooms are also spotlessly clean and spacious, with hot water available at all times--which was important for us since we went in January. Room heaters are also provided in the tents so even though it was biting cold outside, we had a warm and comfortable night. The cultural programme at night was enjoyable, although the bonfire was way too far from the seats and couldn't provide any warmth. But the dinner was good--you can taste traditional Rajasthani fare here like ker-sangri and Dal baati churma. We enjoyed it all, including the camel ride to the sand dunes to watch the sunset--which was included in our package. The only drawback is that the Winds Desert Camp is off the main road, unlike other camps, and not close to the sand dunes either. But the best part for me will always be the beauty and serenity of the place that makes you feel absolutely calm and blissful.
Very nice stay!

Location is awesome as it is in middle of desert. We needed transport from Railway station to the camp site which was arranged by Camp manager very promptly. The camp was very clean and cozy. Bathroom was also kept clean and nice. The bedding & furniture provided was tasteful and sufficient. Camel safari arranged by camp was good. Evening cultural program was a supplementary and nice way to end the day. Meals(Dinner & breakfast) were good as well and the staff was very much willing to make it as per any special needs of guests. Tea and snacks served during evening and morning were OK. Overall we were 3 families travelling together with 5 kids of about 4 years and our mobility was thus very limited. Our needs were very specific to our kids and the camp arranged it all for us. On next day they even arranged a visit to city for us with knowledgeable driver cum guide.
Desert stay in Jaisalmer

Our stay was very very pleasant in this camp. People are very welcoming and caring. Ac was working very well .Bathroom tiles were very very neat. Commode had muddy water and can be improved but in a desert there hygiene is very very high . They arranged for a desert jeep safari and delivery was very experienced.they also took care that people don’t demand more money for other extra rides . Dining area had a lizard near the window which is scary for me. But they take care of guests really well . Overall I luvd this camp as overall stay was pleasant . Came rides were arranged and we did not have think anything . Singing troupe had high quality singers . Cultural music and dance was excellent
Good location, friendly staff and great experience

I stayed here for a day in last week of November and it was a good overall experience. The staff is very polite and always up for anything you need. Camp is about 5KM from the SAM Dunes. Tents are spacious and well equipped. They offer camel safari and dune bashing on a private jeep (not part of the package). The charges for the safari are bit on the higher side but its that extra comfort and control you have that tips in resorts favor. Room cleanliness was not up-to the mark, we found some used tobacco packets under the blanket. The cultural event with the camp fire in the evening was refreshing. The folk songs and the dances were awesome. Dinner was good.
Execellent stay at wind deserts
sachin utekar
We stayed at Winds Desert camp Jaisalmer from 3rd Jan to 5th Jan. We reached 3rd early morning at 6:45 am at the camp and it was freezing cold. Mayank the camp administrator and supervisor was very helpful and kind and provided us early check-in. The entire staff of the camp was very helpful and caring within the camp and also during the desert safari. The jeep safari was thrilling and awesome while the camel safari and sunset on the desert were a real experience. The cultural program post desert safari was also an experience worth remembering. Since the camp has 20 to 22 tents, it is not crowded and more peaceful and serene.
Location, Cleanliness and Tent Condition
Ashish Yadav
We stayed in a tent here. The tent was nicely setup with good interiors. It had an AC, 24hrs hot water supply, power backup, daily essentials. Everything was in good condition. The food served was really tasty with less oils. They organised a camel safari, and great folk music evening. The staff was really humble. They woke up specially at 5 in the morning to prepare breakfast just for us, as we were to leave early for riding. Overall a great place to stay near Sam Sand Dunes.
An memorable experience

The staff of camp were very courteous and friendly. Made our stay a very memorable one. The food and entertainment were remarkable. The staff asked us for our preference for breakfast and the food was tailored to our tastes. The camel safari and the sand dune bashing arranged by the camp was spectacular. I would recommend this camp to guests visiting sam sand dunes.
Thoroughly enjoyed the Camp stay and Camel ride
Arunkumar Asokan

Good and clean camp

Decent location with good facilities. Clean room and accommodating staff. Food can be improved for dinner. Tents have room heaters and camel safari arranged was good as well. The location can be easily tracked.
Can give it a try
Aditya Desai
Nice location nice food great hospitality. Can give it a try. The only problem is that it might not be worth the money they charge and one can easily listen to what's going in adjacent tent. They have provided on almost all facilities that can be provided in the tent.
Comfortable stay, amazing location, tasty food and good cultural program
Ganesh Adiga R
Clean room, good location, but the room was really tiny with hot water issues. The desert camp is nicely located and little away from the crowded from the sam sand dunes. The rooms were really neat and comfortable. No issues with the food and service. Since we were travelling with the kid and was really cold out there in December, we opted for the heater for which they charged us extra for a single night, which I feel for exorbitant.
Courteous staff & good food
Shane Sequeira
Clean tent and bathroom, very well-organised. Staff was courteous. Food was excellent both breakfast and dinner... The traditional folk dance program was also really good. Desert safari was a nice first time experience. They should offer some discounts on the jeep dune rides by clubbing method. Awesome experience. They also take care of your car driver... Highly recommended even though its a bit steeper than other tents.
Food and hospitality

Camel Safari and Desert Sand dunes
SUDHANSHU MATHUR
Main attraction : Camel Safari as part of activities in the package Excellent place... Very nice and humble staff... Activities included in the package were very enjoyable.. You can actually see the sunrise and sunset from the place clearly. Clear air with starry night. Food is excellent be it traditional Rajasthani food or Indian cuisine breakfast. Tent is very clean with all the amenities. Its definitely value for money and your time.
Exceptional!

Had been to Jaiselmer many times in past and stayed at many camps, this one was to be an exceptionally good in terms of service and hospitality of the staffs (not only the front desk, also the stewards), very helpful and unmatched service level faced by far at Camp sites in past. The quality, variety and taste of the food was remarkable.
