Woodway Estate Homestay

My family and I booked this homestay in August for a brief vacation as we did not get rooms in the major guest houses in Chikmagalur but unexpectedly and to our sheer delight this homestay turned out to be the miracle we were looking for especially coming from one of the most polluted and in your face cities Mumbai. This homestay rests on a huge estate and the building itself is quite large housing 5-6 rooms with attached bathrooms along with a massive center room and a deck type room covered with glass so one can take in the expansive view of the surrounding mountains and greenery while sipping on hot coffee and just lazing around . The rooms are spacious with huge windows facing different sides of the estate depending on which room one gets and are equipped with a queen sized bed a small cupboard and an electronic locker though ours was not in working order but that did not really get in the way. The bathrooms are also furnished with good quality fittings and the basic necessities such as hot water towels and soap shampoo Coming to the food it is totally and delectably Malnad style cooking at its best with fresh pure veggies you'll know when you taste it and I am still missing the food We had at least 2-3 lip smacking varied dishes vegetarian and non vegetarian depending every day for breakfast lunch and dinner and our only grouse was we could not stay longer. The staff are extremely courteous and alter the food quantity to your requirements though in our case they had to downsize quantity in terms of the carbs as our guts are totally ruined with the toxic food we eat in Mumbai and we have to limit quantity in terms of things to do there are indoor games though not in exactly pristine order but can do condition. There is also a well stacked small library in the television room for good reading measure too For the pool lovers unfortunately there is no pool but trust me that weather is not conducive for pools and since the owner Shree Dev and family are more eco conscious and avoid wastage of all sorts I guess a pool just does not fit the picture. There are also the 2 dogs Brutus and Caesar absolute sweethearts to enjoy with One can also go for a guided tour of Sridevi s coffee estate provided the season is right. In summary if you are thinking of visiting Chikmagalur do stay at Woodway for a truly home away from home experience and just unwind ofcourse do not expect guest house sort of on the call room service where bedsheets and towels are changed every day with room cleaning or that sort of a treatment but they do change soiled towels on request. The same goes with the idea of being at home and keeping things in proper order on the lines of a green initiative.

We have recently visited Woodway and I must say it was indeed an awesome stay. The location is wonderful some 10-15 km away from Chikmagalur which made us a little skeptical but it was the right decision to choose this place as the climate here is much better than the Woodway Estate Homestays/homestays located in the town as it is up top the hill. Nature seemed at its best at Woodway. The place is very well-maintained and I being a cleanliness freak could not have asked for more. The bungalow is huge with aesthetically designed rooms which are cosy and very comfortable. The estate is huge with beautiful garden and bonfire arrangements. We found Mr. Shreedev, the owner very helpful and friendly. The interaction starts right after your booking and he makes sure that the travel, the stay and visit to famous spots is all planned and comfortable. Food at Woodway was yum and suitable for people from all regions. Thanks to all the caretakers who took great care of our comfort and needs and a special thanks to Mr. Shreedev for making our visit to Chikmagalur a memorable one. Please keep up the good work sir. A small piece of information for the visitors to keep their electronic devices charged because there may be electricity issues and do make all important arrangements beforehand as Mobile network connectivity would be negligible here.

The staff of the guest house were good and friendly to our request. The guest house was located little far from the city and a shopping mall was nearby the guest house I didn't face any problem during the check in and check out procedure. The room provided to me was neat clean spacious and well maintained. The interior and exterior of the guest house were good I was able to see the view from my room. The amenities were in working condition hot and cold water facility was provided. The food provided to me was good and the quality of the food was also good. The guest house had also provided the activities I would recommend this guest house to others.

I am glad we made the choice to stay in Woodway for our holiday in Chikmagalur. The location and ambience is perfect for a relaxed break. Early morning walks in the estate along with dogs was a wonderful experience. The staff was very courteous and the food was also very nice. The estate owner, Shree Dev was very kind to take us on a tour of the coffee estate. He also suggested the places we should visit which helped us plan our trip better. Overall it was a memorable stay.

Sprawling well maintained coffee estate with the view of the famous Chikmagalur hills Nice accommodation in the estate house they had separate rooms outside for a library as well as for indoor games We used to have evening hot snacks around a bonfire which we loved The trek to the nearby Bande Kallu Gudda was exhilarating. Overall the experience was a delight as the host promised The staff taking care of us and pampered us with their attention.

This place is little away from the most popular tourist place in Chickmagalur ie, Mullayanagiri but the estate owner recommended couple of nearby places that were pretty good with absolutely no crowd, no shops. Homestay as such is neat nice property, easy to reach as well, good food particularly the tiffen items were superb.

Shreedev the property owner makes you feel at home by giving you personal attention. His knowledge on the place gives you excellent tips to plan your stay. Food is homely and edible. Staff is very hospitable and serve you well. The property is spic and span and is located amid natures best wilderness. Value for money if you are a couple or a family.

Beautiful, well-maintained coffee estate with a great view of the hills. Very well-maintained and tasteful interiors. The evening bonfire with family and new found friends was fun. The early morning trek to the nearby Bande Kal with Caesar (the ever excited dog of the owners) was exhilarating. Overall, a delightful experience.

Perfect location amidst hills and greenery. Excellent service provided by staff. Homely Malnad food. What else would one ask for a perfect vacation? It was indeed a great vacation. Thanks to the hosts and staff. We will surely return with extended family and friends.

The staff response was very good I don't have any suggestion for this guest house. The experience of the guest house was nice.

This was hands down the best experience I have ever had during any vacation. From the beautiful bungalow to the corteous staff to the great food - everything was beyond my expectations. Highly recommended.
