Zostel Plus Wayanad

I think I had the best stay till date at Zostel Wayanad. Its because of the same reason that I extended my stay here which originally was for 2 days to preemptively 13 days. Preemptively because they had to shut down the property due to government order following coronavirus outbreak in Kerala. It is 7km from Meppadi, the views on the road are so breathtaking that you would want to get down every 5 minutes to take a picture. Coming to the point of the property maintainance they are so caring about each and everything that I never felt for once that I am staying in a hostel. The bedsheets are changed everyday, the mattresses(common room) are dried in sun every single day, the washrooms are cleaned everyday. Not just me, but the other people that have visited the place when I was there have also found themselves at home due to the meticulousness of the team here. They took well care of the hygiene of people during Coronavirus times. People who visit this place also abide by the rules which makes the stay even more enjoyable. Wildlife enthusiasts and birdwatchers, you don’t have to be very lucky to spot a Malabar Giant Squirrel, Malabar Grey Hornboll or a bunch of other rare birds species around this place, Orioles and Flameback woodpeckers are like crows here. Sunset and sunrise lovers, I have not seen a single person during my long stay here who have not enjoyed the sunset or sunrise from here. And chillers, you will have a nice two storied hut with mountains view, sound of birds chirping and great speakers for music. Every night there used to be a bonfire without disturbing anybody. Every night Prince(receptionist during the night) used to start the dance with his Prabhu Deva moves and everybody after that starts to dance around the bonfire. Yes, this happens every single night. I have seen nowhere so much engaging crew members. Another mentionable member is Mustafa(the caretaker of the property) who is an amazing cook, amazing bonfire lighter and extremely humble. Toji(receptionist during the day) is the guy who likes to stay silent but when he starts playing music, you would know that he is a chhupa rustam(hidden player). The manager Harris is the guy who not just manages everything extremely well but also engages into every kind of entertainment that is going around. The volunteer at my time of visit was Priya. She had been very helpful and an informative guide during my stay. The whole crew keep the vibe of the place so positive that even the most introvert person comes out to sing a song or dance around the bonfire. I hope that we all meet again and have a lovely stay again.

The Wayanad property of Zostel should be the most peaceful of all. If you are looking for a place to rewind yourself for a day or two this is where you should go. The hostel rooms are tidy and clean and bathrooms are kept clean as well. The staff is very friendly, and the environment around the hostel is phenomenal with sublime nature trails around the property. However, the food, I thought was costly. Since the hostel is located at a hill, way farther from the main town, you are left with no option but to eat at the hostel. The dinner costed us more, which I think was very costly given the menu and the number of food items. Other Zostels I had been to, do not charge much. Please take with you some maggi and easy-to make food by your own rather than depending upon the food that the hostel serves you. Overall, it was a best experience. And one of the best place I have seen.

Its a heaven for travel hobbits who want to experience the surreal. They are so warm towards guests and are helping hands for anything and everything. The food is amazing. Let them cook whatever in their daily menu. And i tell u its just awesome which doesn't burn a hole in your pocket. The place is just breathtaking so that u wouldn't want to leave the property for any activities but to just enjoy the calmness, tranquil atmosphere. And on the business end, everything is perfect. The bed, sanitation, wifi. U do get those facilities which actually matters for a traveler. Yeah. Just go and enjoy the bliss yourself.

Zostel wayanad is about 300km for people coming from bangalore. The property is on top of a hill, if you want to unwind yourself from busy city life, this is a place to be, the staff is young and know what they are doing. Food is good and the price is very nominal, beds and bathroom are very nearly maintained. There is a separate provision if you want to work and the internet speed is great. There is provision for car/bike parking. This place has amazing vibes and is good for all age groups, they have private rooms as well if you coming with family. Happy unwinding.

I am specifically pointing out 3 things which Zostel Wayanad can improve. 1- Cleanliness inside the room. There were ants, bugs & spiders at the time of check-in. This is a bad experience for any customer. 2- Canteen/Mess a) Over priced food b) Limited menu 3- More sitting points to be made. Every time someone or the other will have the place occupied with people smoking cigarettes/weed/hard drinks. This is pathetic for guests who are not smokers/drinkers. Zostel should really try solving this issue. Otherwise location & staff behaviour is what I liked most.

Property's location was excellent, stay between tea garden. I had never experienced this before and the view was more scenic from room and watch tower. I stayed during rainy season which gave the views more scenic with perfect combination of fog g and rains. Hostel was hygienic enough. But i dint liked the kitchen rules where you had to wash your plates and other vessels which u had used (eg- maggie vessel which i used for making maggie coz the staff dint had time. Common room and games were unlike other zostels.

Old estate charm! gorgeous room with fabulous view but the best was the staff. I particularly thank mr. Prince at the desk. What a gracious and knowledgeable hostess. Our room was good, the housekeeping staff was efficient, attentive. I have been to larger or newer (this one is on historic registry) but do not recall a better or accommodating staff. Prince, our sincere thanks for helping your "riders" guest a real hill station experience. We look fwd to returning. Thanks zostel for the wonderful experience.

I loved each and everything from place to food. Staff was really good and cooperative. Diwali celebration, I did not feel like I had missed the festival. I would love to visit again in sometime later.

If you are planning to travel to wayanad, this place is a must visit. It's cheap, beautiful, eye catching, has a spectacular view and worth every penny. The ride is so good and you get to see the high range nature beauty. They have places nearby where you can visit with your car and unrise point, waterfalls are nearby. Must visit!

Zostel wayanad is very good and i would suggest it to anyone who loves living in a remote area with surrounded greenery.

Lovely views from the property, great spots to chill

It was my first time at any of the Zostel. Location was the first thing which attracted me the Chembra peak. Though the start was not good as we had to wait a while to get our rooms due to new year hangover of staff. But in all it was a great experience with hostel mates from across the globe and India. Must stay!

The hosts were really helpful and the facilities, infrastructure and everything were amazing. The highlight was i was able to meet other travellers and make some friends.

The view is too cool. Food is simple but great. Must stay if visiting Wayanad.

Stay was cozy and relaxing. The place is situated near the chem-bra peak woods, which gives it an aesthetic touch. Going for a walk in the morning amid-st the lush y greens was peaceful. The only drawback is that the cafeteria there is overrated. I wouldn't even mind paying more if the food is good. But the food wasn't cooked well and the rates were too high!

This is the best place to stay in. It’s on a hilltop and except this hostel there’s nothing :) they arrange bonfire and they serve amazing food to people.

Cleanliness is the first thing that we noticed here, be it the sheets, room or the bathroom. It is super clean and hygienic. Second is the experience that you get here and moreover the friends & memories that you make lasts for lifetime. Staff here are awesome. Mostly mahesh jeet bhai, an-war bhai. Last not the least, the view is soooperrrrr amazzzziiiing! absolutely recommended and loved my time here with off road cycling, fun games, boon fires.
