Since its first flight in 2004, Jetstar has witnessed an upward graph in terms of network and fleet. Same year witnessed the maiden flight of Jetstar Asia (Singapore–Hong Kong). A year after offering flights to domestic passengers; Jetstar started its international operations (Christchurch, New Zealand). In 2006, it became the first Australian airline to offer passengers the facility to choose a seat upon booking. After acquiring stakes in 2007 in Vietnam's Pacific Airlines, it re-launched the airline under the brand name Jetstar Pacific in 2008. Commencement of affiliation with the oneworld alliance in 2011 has enabled travellers to include Jetstar in their oneworld itinerary, provided the tickets are purchased through Qantas, under a QF flight number. Moving forward with its expansion plans, Jetstar announced setting up of two new brands – Jetstar Japan and Jetstar Hong Kong. At present, it offers cheap flights to over 60 destinations across 16 nations and territories. Besides, it is the largest low cost airline in the Asia Pacific region in terms of revenue.

The impressive fleet of aircrafts of Jetstar airlines is one of the major contributors to its success. Jetstar Airways, Jetstar Asia and Jetstar Pacific boast of a fleet of Airbus A320, which has the widest cabin amongst single-aisle carriers. These flights can accommodate between 177 passengers (Australia and New Zealand) and 180 passengers (across Asia). Besides A320, the Airbus A321 is also a part of the Jetstar Airways’ fleet. This airbus has a higher seating capacity of around 220. Moreover, the long-haul international routes of Jetstar Airways are serviced by Airbus A330-200 that has a seating capacity of either 303 or 310 (segregated into Business and Economy).
